Being the Buzzkill

I’m not sure if I’ve been hypnotized into staid indifference with all of these Warrior wins but beating the bejezus out of the Dodgers yesterday didn’t stir the same “knowing dude head nod” reaction inside of me that it would have in years past. Is winning really getting this easy? That’s a game we would have lost in years past and not only did we win but we bent those art dealin’ chumps over the dugout out and doubled them up.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited about the win. But there’s a part of me that misses the faults and the failures of pre-2010 Giant teams. I’m tired of seeing every other person I pass on the street decked out in fresh Giants gear. And I liked it when no one believed in us. Wins are sweeter and better savored when the doubters are exposed.

Which was more exciting, Mike Ivie’s grand slam or Hunter’s from yesterday?

New heroes every game. Tonight its Brown and Crawdaddy + the bullies. 3 runs on two hits in a 10 inning game may not be a major league record, but we’ll sure the hell take it. Feeling sleepy at the beginning of the game, i crapped out for about 2.5 hours. Got back down to the puter for the last out in the bottom of the 9th and caught up on some e.m.’s while LA was at bat. By the time i got back to SFGate coverage it was another W. and two new heroes for the young season. Gotta say that was some nice timing, all quite serendipitously.
As i noted after yesterday’s contest, the primary difference between the two teams is between the bullpens. Though SF found it impossible to truly solve a mere Stripling, Cain mostly returned to form and the Bullies were airtight,. Love it.

Damn. Got to say Roberts screwed the pooch there. Like Matt Williams in the playoffs a couple years ago, you leave the Strippler in for just one more batter. If he walks Brown, or even gives up a bomb, you tip your cap. Even if he walks Brown, he wouldn’t get the loss if he walks him and we take the lead later in the 8th. He wasn’t close to being gassed. Oh well!
