A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Sucking Shit

Another benefit to being in Sun Valley in a log cabin next to a river: no cell service, limited internet and no tv. So I wasn’t able to watch that bullshit from last night or receive any angry texts. The box score looks grim. And I’m going to post this now in case I lose my internet again.

Shit if we tack on a few more I might consider bringing in Gerrain from the DL..Not!!

As for Buster … that’s all I’m talkin’ ’bout, what we all just saw there with the bomb … Of course, he is NOT an Arenado, and nobody is clutch all the time … but … when we are witnessing what we are currently witnessing: consistently strong, if not, great pitching and watching a BP lead the league in pissing away victories, someone has to step up and help this offense put some runs on the board to protect leads and take advantage of opportunities … If not Buster, then who?

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:40 pm

Buster was already stepping up, IMO.

      • bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:46 pm

I agree Zum .. He has been picking up his offensive game … and defensively he has been stellar all year.

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:40 pm

      Ruben Tejada??

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:42 pm

Uh, that would be Crawford who leads the team with 54, followed by Belt with 45. Panic and Pence follow Posey in 4th and 5th with 36 each. When I look at the aggregate results for the team to date, Posey is a non-starter as far as issues. We can agree to disagree.

And wtf…look, Posey just stole a bag too, making him 5 for 5 this year.

  5. sandog's avatar sandog said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:38 pm

Bochy is big on giving bullpen guys a chance to get back on track after a rough outing or two. Part of that “long game” approach that Zum talks about–and I totally agree with. I think he’ll bring someone in, and I’m fine with that.

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:43 pm

I think he will too. I expect Casilla. But if Cueto said he was good, I am putting him out there to start the 9th.

Posey’s SB just guaranteed a DFS payoff for me. Small victories.

    • sandog's avatar sandog said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:43 pm

I do think Goodman really knows his stuff and has a nice smooth delivery.
      Congrats on the win!

      • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:44 pm

Absolutely. Sherpas are lucky to have him.

Man that Buster is one swift dude. Five SBs.

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:45 pm

      .

  8. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:44 pm

Buster stole a base to put himself in scoring position, and then Tejada struck out swinging like Babe Ruth.

  9. chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:45 pm

Well shit. Bochy did what I thought he would not. Let’s go Johnny C!

  12. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:47 pm

Well, this is one way to solve the bullpen problem.

    • bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:55 pm

I’ve been saying exactly this for a week but as usual here, it gets shot down.

  13. chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:47 pm

    Cueto-nificent!

  14. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:48 pm

    Oh yeah here’s Johnny!!
    Fantastic performance my man!!!

  15. chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:49 pm

Beginning of the 7th I was saying to myself, how damned sweet would it be to give the bullpen the night off. Boom! Just what the doctor ordered!

  16. chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:49 pm

Damn. Cueto 18 starts resulting in 16 Giant wins.

  17. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:50 pm

The Giants have two aces. That is so cool.

  18. Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:50 pm

Johnny C. says, I don’t need no stinking bullpen.
    Good win.

  19. sandog's avatar sandog said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:50 pm

Well….I guess even Boch, the bullpen-whisperer himself, has his limit when it comes to our bullpen!
Man, 13-1 for Cueto with 4 CG’s. Unreal.

  20. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:50 pm

If I was in the bullpen, I would be embarrassed that I could not throw 20 pitches in an inning to get 3 batters out but my start can throw 118 pitch complete game for a win!!

  21. bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:53 pm

Well there you go … Just as I suggested … Get these starters to pitch complete games … Shut outs would be best …VOILA! Bullpen issues solved!

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:57 pm

Keep dreaming my man. I mean it is nice to mix in a CG, but any team that has any hope to go deep, and win it all will have to have a good bullpen. It’s a must. I agree with the theory by many here that Sabean and Evans will be tearning up the phone lines during the break, and we will see a couple of new faces in the BP sooner rather than later. If that does not happen…I will be very surprised.

  22. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:54 pm

Cueto thru his interpereter is saying I would grab on to Amy’s chi chi’s if she had any…

  23. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:55 pm

The Anti-Bullpen. Man, I hope Cueto gets a start at either the Yanks or Philly.

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:59 pm

Yeah, I cannot wait to see how the rotation is going to shake-out while Blade and I are in Boston and NY.

  24. Carstie Clausen's avatar Carstie Clausen said, on July 6, 2016 at 9:58 pm

Where would this team be at without our stopper, Johnny Cueto? He should get the start in the AS game, but Bochy should insist he pitches only one inning. We could so use a 20 game winner. He keeps this up and the ownership group will just about hafta clean out the SF Federal Reserve Bank on accounta the flexible contract that Cueto and his agent so wisely insisted on for his signature.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 6, 2016 at 10:00 pm

I think the starter is expected to pitch two innings.

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 10:00 pm

Stix – Cueto is almost 31. What kind of deal would you propose (length, $ per year, and options)?

  25. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 6, 2016 at 10:03 pm

It’s nice to get the division lead back up to 6 games.

    • chipower9's avatar chipower9 said, on July 6, 2016 at 10:04 pm

Would love to see it creep to eight at the break.

      • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 6, 2016 at 10:07 pm

Yeah, it was at 8 before that friggin’ A’s series.

I know…given the injuries they have had, it is amazing they hung tough with half the Rivercats on the 25. Cannot wait to see this team at full-strength. Pence, Panik, Duffy…

Tell me … has sarcasm gone out of fashion lately?

3 separate times in the last week I post the tongue-in-cheek suggestion that complete game shutouts are the answer to our bullpen issues and each time the response is that I’m being serious. One time, I even fessed to being sarcastic … hmmm .. Weird!

Seager is going to be in the homerun hitting contest. That’s messed up a few hitters in the past. Pederson, for example.

Great game tonite. Johnny was dealing even though he looked like he was getting squeezed. From dead center… My daughter caught a ball thrown by Angel and gave it to a little kid. Lots of lng flies caught by the Rockies. Blackmon caught tons of shit from the bleachers. Too funny. H turned around a few times looking for he source.

Funny thing is I got the double cheeseburger with the longneck Bud at Reds. the usual. My son said you don’t drink Bud. I said well it’s longnecks. . $10 now nstead of $3… Snt there a scene n Dirt Harry outside Reds?

Red’s is great. You can’t beat beer and grease, they go together. When the Dubs were dickering to put their new palace on that pier, I read where they promised to put a new Reds inside the building…
