A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Flap State of Mind

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 22, 2016

The Flap takeover of New York seems to be in full effect. There are reports of a ferry being ridden (harbor police might use the word “commandeered”). I’m not sure if Chia Blade made it out of the Bronx safely but I’ll assume they did and there was some “motoring” involved with the exit.

It appears to be hot as fuck in New York today. I hope that doesn’t ruin the experience for the non-New Yorkers.

Bum v Tanakasan tonight. It should noted that we’ve really only been close to winning one game since the break re-start and that was the Casilla balk-implosion. So it is past time for a W. I’m calling for Flap Nation to storm the gates of Yankee Stadium and don’t stop till you get the WIN……

This game is pissing me off…..>>Anyway, the pics out of Yankee stadium are hitting my phone fast and furious. As I’ve said, it’s kind of a pain in the ass for me to post pics. But I have gone out of my way to post this one. Maybe it will give us some luck. From left to right we have San Dawg, Chi, Mr. DJ LOO, and MacDog:

Well he didn’t build this house Zumie..
They should of just upgraded the old joint imo. Where all the true legends played from Ruth,Gehrig,Berra,Mr.Coffee,Mantle and so on. This new stadium has no appeal…

Major quibble: if Buster Posey is your best hitter (arguably) why would you want him sweatin’ it out behind the plate all game? Seriously, it’s fucking 900 degrees out there and Bochy’s plan is to beat down our best hitter with a shitload of heat and humidity. And the let him bat? Bad idea, Buster should have been the DH and Brown should have gotten sacrificed behind the plate….

  5. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on July 22, 2016 at 2:51 pm

Yeah no shit BF, I would DH Posey the whole series..

  6. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on July 22, 2016 at 2:58 pm

Yeah, it’s a shame they tore down the original Yankee stadium. Shit, say what you will about the diffs between NY and Chi town, they would never even consider tearing down Wrigley.

Sacrilege on the part of the Steinbrenners.

I hope these Road Flappers have some supplies, you always need supplies.

I would suggest tequila, rum, IPAs, OJ and a ham. All of those items go well with most occasions and really well with a baseball game.
Bring home a winner, Cha Chia Blade, Dogs and Loo.

Current mlb trade rumor story has Brewers checking out and interest in Mejia. Who here would trade him straight up for their closer Jeffress? I definitely would. Even with Mejia as starter potential, I think I would do this deal and get him to close in a heartbeat. Would the Brewers do that deal??

The Brewers also have a lefty in Will Smith that I would want in a deal. What would the Giants need to do to land the two??? Discuss..

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 22, 2016 at 4:11 pm

Go for it, Giants. Trade a handful of prospects for the two of them.

Great camera angle above homeplate shows Blanco got a tiny slice of homeplate.

  20. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 22, 2016 at 5:09 pm

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 22, 2016 at 5:13 pm

How can that happen, though? Kelly gave the stop sign and Blanco just ran through it? Then bench him, and put Williamson in.

  22. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 22, 2016 at 5:12 pm

The Giants have had a number of stupid baserunning mistakes this season. I don’t get why that’s happening.

We miss Flannery is what it is, I guess. I had never fully appreciated him as much as I should have,

      • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on July 22, 2016 at 5:22 pm

I agree Zum. If I remember rightly, one of the posters here (I really don’t remember who it was) thought anyone could be a 3B coach, whereas some of us felt losing Flan was bigger than losing the Panda.
It does seem to be a pretty tough job, to me anyway.

Still, I thought he was safe so I’m not sure it was a bad move to send him.

  24. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on July 22, 2016 at 5:20 pm

I could be mistaken – I often am – seems like the pattern that has emerged is the Giants overall (pitchers, hitters, defense) struggled to focus in early innings. As the game wears on they begin too loosen up but tis often a case of too, little too late. Even the BP sufers this afflication .. with the exception of Casillia who just sucks all the time.

Span with 2 hits tonite including line drive double off Betances…2 knocks and a walk yesterday, on base twice game before and still hasn’t scored a run.
Like him or not, sounds like he’s doing his job.

No way Posey was sitting out after a day off with Bum pitching. If need be he can DH, but leave him in there.
He grew up in Georgia and played college ball in Florida. I think he’s used to playing in this weather; no reason to baby cake the guy.

Plus he’s played hella lot more on the field than Iron Man Pence last couple years.

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John said, on July 22, 2016 at 6:38 pm

Pagan has higher BA (right now) and OPS, but Span actually has higher OB, key for lead off right?
Bochy has left him in there, so in his not so humble opinion he’s the best option.

I’d really like to see more of Parker–getting more walks his OB is way up there. maybe he’s starting to figure some things out.
