A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Engage Operation EYB

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 5, 2016

I loved last night’s game. Even the strikeouts. As the game wore on it became a game to watch within the game. Good thing I wasn’t playing a drinking game. All those k’s would have sent me to the ER. And who doesn’t enjoy a walk off? There are critics of the wild card format but I’m not one of them. An instant Game 7 to kick off the post season? That is fantastic. And if the WC teams or the fans grouse about only getting one game here’s an idea: win your damn division.

My A’s fan buddy, The Boney One, texted me at 4:32am today looking for my prediction on the game tonight. I just texted back “excitement” and left it at that. It’s the bare minimum of what we all get today and into tonight.

Even if they lose, I’m pretty content just getting to this game. How did the worst team in baseball make the post season? Think about that. And it’s not even arguable, with stats or your own eyeballs, that we weren’t the worst team in all of mlb in the second half of the season.

But here we are. I’m down with a crazy 3 week run. I don’t expect it but I also didn’t expect the 2014 flag and that’s flying like a boss right now.

So whatever, no expectations. But I’m confident because of who’s taking the hill. Excitement is definitely in the air. On the east side of the Dumbarton Bridge there are salt ponds. Savy locals know when it’s time to roll up the window. I hope NY fans know what’s up but there’s only so much they can do to withstand the EYB that’s wafting towards Citi Field right now. It’s coming and it’s even and it’s bullshit and so far (engage knowing dude head nod) no one has been able to stop it……

Representing……

Eduardo Núñez isn’t on the Giants roster. Cueto and Samardzija both on there, just in case. As expected, no Nathan, Peavy or Cain.

Awesome. In my opinion this goes straight to the POTD Best of.

    Fucking A brother! Great thread!

I dig the one game play-in! NO BALLS – NO BLUE CHIPS!

If you do not have Champion Blood, you do not belong here!

Texted Loo this morning. Fuck, wish I was hanging with that cat today!

    Yes…excitement!

    Just Win…

That third paragraph…”Even if they lose I’m pretty content…” sums it up, but all that bad baseball would come back to me if they lost right away. Having to go 7-3 last 10 and sweep LA (who obviously didn’t give an F) just to get second WC spot would rankle. Those last games vs. LA could have been for the division.

Strength of SPs plus D makes it still doable and Giants have found ways to win with unlikely heroes before.

There was a Dexter Fowler story on yahoo from Chicago Trib about how Epstein managed to sign him in preseason when everyone thought he was going elsewhere. And of course he wound up having a great year as Cubs offense was off the charts.
But blogger comment was, “It don’t mean a thing without the ring.”

Wilco great story about watching Texas SC game in the parking lot. This weekend is battle with Oklahoma and I noticed that has highest over/under on board at 73+, even higher than Cal at 71.

Yeah, the fact that they got in erases all the shit from the months of July, August, and September.

Mainly because they are IN. They won those early games, and it turns out they needed every one of them.

    •RHP Johnny Cueto
    •RHP George Kontos
    •RHP Derek Law
    •LHP Javier Lopez
    •LHP Steven Okert
    •RHP Sergio Romo
    •RHP Jeff Samardzija
    •LHP Will Smith
    •RHP Hunter Strickland
    •C Trevor Brown
    •C Buster Posey
    •IF Ehire Adrianza
    •1B Brandon Belt
    •SS Brandon Crawford
    •3B Conor Gillaspie
    •2B Joe Panik
    •IF Kelby Tomlinson
    •OF Gregor Blanco
    •OF Gorkys Hernandez
    •OF Angel Pagan
    •OF Jarrett Parker
    •OF Hunter Pence
    •OF Denard Span

Interesting that Parker made the cut (pop off the bench).

Lefties are Lopez, Smith, and Okert (no Osich). I like that move, as Okert has been way more consistent down the stretch than Osich. I have said it quite often…I see Osich as being the potential lefty-specialist next year (dude is lights-out against lefties).
