Distrust of the Process
This is all you need to know about how dysfunctional the 49ers are:
Niners’ interest in Tom Cable was real. Owner Denise DeBartolo York interviewed him on the phone today for an hour…
First of all, Jed tells everyone HE is the owner. It’s true, he declares it out loud at press conferences.
Secondly…..
What could that chick possibly add to the interview process? She talked with him for AN HOUR?
Thankfully, Cable saved everyone the trouble of abject fan mutiny and took himself out of the running for the gig.
Tom Cable said no thanks.
….a first-of-its-kind rejection.
Saw highlights of game btw New Mexico and Colo St last Saturday that involved a fight after a NM post player set a backcourt screen on a G that didn’t see it and got blasted. Then after the game was a shouting match btw Colo St player and NM assistants waiting for rest of team before they board bus. The player can be heard threatening a coach (You lucky/I whip etc) while coach says “I’m right here/learn how to lose.”
Colo St. coach holds the kid back and then yells at NM guys. This is on cbssports site.
Sounds like HS stuff from back in the day where team bus was often targeted.
Funniest high school thing I ever saw was when Serra and Bellarmne played a CCS finals game down in Santa Clara. Rowdy game, the whole deal. Serra ended up losing 53-52 behind riinger Gerald Simien, our 6’10’ center.
Driving home on 280 a carload of Bellarmine guys start yelling shit and swerving at us. We are all yelling laughing and flipping the bird. After a few minutes of this, a guy in the back seat of their car throws a beer bottle at our car. Unfortunately the window wasn’t rolled down and he shattered the window.
Needless to say the laughing and shit was amplified by 10. They all start yelling at the guy in the back seat as we drove away laughing.
WilleD, did you see this? Hilarious.
Stupid as the Niners are, they would be in good shape if they get Wolf and Shanahan.
They have a decent o and d line a decent run game and solid dbs.
Get a QB, a pass rusher and a WR and they are better than AZ. And close to Seattlemfor that matter. Parity lives and breathes in the NFL.
they don’t have a single GREAT player on either side of the ball. No difference makers.
Agreed.
Spot on unca.
They don’t need great players. Their lines are good. The most important thing to build from. Bowman? We’ll see. The defense was poorly coached.
Offense is a huge concern. QB mainly. We’ll see what happens. Shanahans a good coach. They get him, they at least have someone with a clue.
You’re welcome to Andy Reid and Alex Smith as far as I’m concerned.
22-4 in their last 26 regular season games and for what?
Well, I think they need a significant upgrade in the WR department, too. And I beg to differ…I DO think you need “difference makers” in addition to “good players.” You are much more plugged-in with the Niners than me…I hope you are right in that they have a decent base of talent. Sure as fuck has not shown in winning any football games the past couple of years.
They didn’t win under Singletary either. Same team better coaches.
This team doesn’t have near the talent, but they can improve pretty quick with a good draft.
Dallas was in the same situation last year. A shitty season with a lousy QB and they went 4-12. They have better lines though. They add Dak and Elliott and they are 13-3.
They need a QB a pass rusher and a WR. With the cap space they have they should be able to get some players.
And a good draft would help immensely. What was Dallas’ record last year?
13-3 and they weren’t trying in their 3rd loss.
4-12 in 2015 – I figured out that’s what you probably meant…
they need more than one receiver. At the beginning of the season I was dumbfounded at how they could start a season with such a shit receiving core. One would be a start but that ain’t gonna get it done.
Is that all?
Well at least they drafted a punter high and we have a 40year old FG kicker so that’s a start!
I don’t understand the “pardoning” of McCovey for a 20 year old offense that he was already punished for.
What does it mean? I’ll never forgive Obama for turning his back on Stix…
lol, I think it just comes off his record. Doesn’t really *do* anything. I’m still hopeful that GH storms the oval office and gets shit DONE the first chance he gets. He may be Stix last chance.
It’s important for Stretch to have a clean record in case he interviews for any other jobs requiring you to stuff your face with free food in your private suite at the ballpark…
I’m really hoping that the whole Tom Cable thing is along the lines of Paul’s last post of last night.
If they prince dork and paraag stay out of the way on football decisions made by presumably Shanahan and whoever the gm is. If they do that, I may be back to supporting them again.
But if it’s true that Denise is interviewing people, then we may be screwed far worse than I could have ever imagined.
My sentiments exactly, brother. Jed and Paraag need to keep out of the football decision making. Hire a GOOD GM and coach and let them do their fucking jobs. Fuck, I hate the Dorks. SMH…
Cable declined. As did Trent Kirchner (Seattle personnel exec). Scott Fitterer (co-director of player personnel with Seattle) also declined.
Monday, Josh McDaniels of the Pats also removed his name.
Per the “Sacramento Bee” today, “Every other candidate who has been interviewedhas bowed out of the hunt or found a head-coaching job elsewhere.”
Bottom line – almost all of the desirable talent for a GM or coach has basically told the Niners to go fuck themselves. My guess is that dealing with the Yorks is a prime reason for this hiatus.
Our franchise is SO FUCKED UP…it makes it a real challenge to remain a fan of the team. Sigh….
On a brighter note…
Only 26 daze until pitchers and catchers report…
I did hear something on KNBR yesterday someone said that the other candidates removed themselves from consideration because they knew the niners had their guys and they didn’t want to be seen as passed over for the job by the likes of the 49ers.
I hope that is the case
One can hope. But the way the Yorks have run this once proud franchise into the ground, I am suspicious if that was the case.
As am I, just trying to help optimistic. Although they haven’t given me much reason for that
Jed said that Jimmy Raye has to be included as OC under Kyle Shanahan are the deals off the table..
Oh fuck…we’re double dog screwed…
As long as it’s not Jimmy three and out Ray Jr.
So if we land Shanahan and he has Redskins ties from his past, what do you guys think it would take besides the #1 pick and a lot more to try a get Kirk Cousins? Are is just a pipe dream?
Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines and Ivan Rodriguez elected to baseball Hall of Fame.
So, two players who likely used steroids made it into the Hall of Fame this year, Pudge and Bagwell. And Raines, who only used cocaine.
Jayson Stark tweet: Turns out Roger Clemens & Barry Bonds didn’t make as dramatic a jump as we expected. Clemens went from 45.2 pct to 54.1, Bonds from 44.3 to 53.8. So both would need close to 100 more votes to get elected. Still, they were both around 36 pct 2 years ago. They have 5 years left on the ballot. And only Gil Hodges got this close with this many years left and didn’t get into the Hall
It’s become so stupid, I don’t pay it no nevermind…
here’s the thing, even if Bonds gets in, so what? A bunch of disheveled journalists with crumbs all over their faces let him in? Public perception will still always be what it is. I don’t give a fuck what people think about Barry. He is the greatest home run hitter to ever play and letting him in or keeping him out of the HOF won’t sway me on that……
Agree 100%.
Curt Flood would’ve been 78 today if he hadn’t died 20 years ago this Friday.
Every baseball millionaire owes him big time – yet there isn’t even a plaque,
or a signpost or a statue of him anywhere as far as I know.
Wonder how many of today’s players even heard of him.
The guy was also a hell of a CF despite the infamous misplay in the ’68 WS…
Kent with only a 14% vote is a freaking joke.
all time HR leader for 2nd basemen gets 14%. I see. Hmmmmm….
But Mazeroski’s in for one friggin’ homer and good defense…
Before January 20th . . .
After January 20th . . .
Sad.
I always thought Pottersville seemed like a lot more fun place.
Valley of the Dolls, now that’s a zip code…
I’d live anywhere with Violet Bick…
The HOF vote makes perfect sense in the nonsensical willy nilly world of the baseball HOF. Yeah, enough writers somehow know Bagwell and Pudge never used ‘roids or didn’t use them too much, and Raines’ admitted use of coke, even during games, doesn’t matter. I’m fine with those dudes in, but it doesn’t really matter anymore. Gil Hodges not in, and Mazeroski being in, now that is just total horse manure. As for Kent, he’s got offensive numbers way beyond those of Joe Morgan, the HOF gatekeeper. I don’t think anyone could reasonably think Kent used PEDs, but maybe he’s absorbed a Bonds-associated stink somehow with these idiot writers. I wouldn’t doubt it…
Flav,I did see that vid of the Siena coach shaking hands with nobody, pretty funny. There was a brawl in 4th Q, as one of the Siena guys punched a Rider player. Both coaches were on the floor with their players, exchanging pleasantries. 4 Ts assessed overall 2 players and both coaches.
The guys doing the highlights said there was mutual agreement for no handshakes postgame. You can see the Rider guys and coaches just walk right off the floor after game ends.
Kent should be in just being the all time 2nd basemen HR hitter and just overall solid production, it really is a joke how these voters hold grudges, and because Kent was another red ass like Bonds with the media, now he’s doomed at that low pct he received to ever get in now.Truly sad 😭
Btw how pissed off do you think Trevor Hoffman is tonight with 74% needing 75% to get in?
Here’s Bruce Jenkins’ take on his HOF votes:
“Call me a lunatic, but I vote for the Hall of Fame as consistently as anyone in America. I voted for Barry Bonds and other PED legends from the beginning. I don’t waver on votes. I don’t “wait a while.” And I don’t stop voting for someone. No ambiguity, no character judgments. It’s all about the best players of their time. This is a museum, not a courtroom, and all the rogues should have their misdeeds clearly stated on their Cooperstown plaques.”
He’s got Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, Pudge, ManRam, Schilling, the whole rogues gallery. Love it. I disagree with Jenkins a lot, but not on this score.
Killion only voted for 5, left 5 spots blank, her usual idiocy. Real baseball writers loathe the limit of 10 votes, she can’t muster enough players worthy beyond 5.
Compare those two extremes of Jenkins and whatshername, and it shows why the baseball HOF voting is beyond broken…

where have all the barefoot kickers gone?
And the half-footed ones:
Yeah, my fave was Steve Miss-a-Mile (Mike-Meyer)
Fun fact Loo . . . In real life, Gloria Grahame’s (Violet Bick) fourth and final marriage was to actor Anthony “Tony” Ray, the son of her second husband Nicholas Ray and his first wife Jean Evans; Anthony Ray was her former stepson. Their relationship reportedly began when Tony Ray was 13 years old and Grahame was still married to his father (which effectively ended the marriage when Nicholas Ray caught the two in bed together). The two reconnected in 1958 and married in Tijuana, Mexico in May, 1960. The couple would go on to have two children: Anthony, Jr. (born 1963) and James (born 1965).
Skank-Whore…
Nice pic. But can she play LF and pull the ball to left with power….
Surely you are joking, Chuck. The only 2 guys I wanted out of this were McVay and Shanahan.
Cable? Fuck to the no way in hell. McDaniels? Double fuck to the no. I was kinda interested in Anthony Lynn, but Shanahan has the best offensive mind out there.
Hilarious traveling call on Westbrook. Everyone must see it.

That was the strangest thing I’eve seen. I’ve never seen a basketball player forget to dribble.
I’m surprised he got called though.
Atl’s head coach Dan Quinn has already said Shanahan is going to the 49ers.
Chuck..Until his signature is on the dotted line nothings a done deal with the pathetic organization..
Adam Gase was all in as well actually respecting Jed& Parasite Pradaag if you can believe that, but once he realized Baakle had the final say and dipshit wanted Tomsula as the coach, he wisely bailed out!
Yeah maybe now with dickwad Trent gone a better scenario should hopefully come out of this and they land Shanahan, but it’s not written in stone yet.,
If they somehow fuck this up i’ll throw in the towel.
Better hide your favorite towels…
