After last night’s rousing thrashing of the A’s I had renewed confidence to check the standings for the first time in nearly a month. Big mistake. 35 games back. WOW! It’s too bad baseball isn’t like NBA or NFL where you can tank and get a stud draft pick that can help immediately. Instead of tank, the Giants just laugh all the way to the bank.
MLB wins for a single season, as you probably know, is Seattle with 116 in 2001. With the Art Dealers at 75-31 that record is definitely in play for them. I hope they get there. Fun Fact: The Mariners didn’t make it to the World Series in 2001.
Matty Moore Wednesday. Now that all the pressure is completely off him he might make a serious run the rest of the season. If that happens, I declare him to be Mike Leake….
A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball 
It just remains really hard to justify spending three hours watching this team, especially on week nights, when I get up at 4:45 in the morning. I did see Belt’s bomb last night to make it like 7-2, and cashed-in my chips at that time.
I am at the point of no expectations and definite lack of interest. Just get this year over with and hope like hell the front office can make some moves during the off-season towards making this team competitive, again.
xoot sent me an email with the latest government brief in Stix’s case. Sounds like the feds are pushing for an enhanced sentence that could be in excess of 10 years. Stix’s lawyers will file a response brief in about two weeks. Doesn’t look good for our guy.

Got a return letter from Stix and he said he was looking at 10 years on just one of the 3 charges. Totally stinks. He had a pretty good screed about the government, but he has a lot to say about the Giants, in fact he pretty much covers the same topics we cover in that he didn’t think there would be much trade activity by the team, and that this is turning into a shit year.
He said he would really like to see minor league stats of the Giants farm teams. I was going to throw something together for him tomorrow.

Is Melancon coming back any time soon? Houston’s front office is getting scorched for not getting more arms at the deadline. Even Keuchel spoke out about it. The Astros could save some face with the fans and most importantly the clubhouse by working out a deal for Melancon. Even if he pitched like shit down here at least Luhnow (Astros GM) could come out of hiding.
