A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Supporting Suckers

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 10, 2017

Really nowhere to go with the remote last night. Giants got leveled by one of the worst teams in the league 13-1 (btw, nice job stepping up in your *revenge* game Smarge, idiot). Cardinal got toyed with by Darnold– he got whatever he wanted whenever he wanted it. Stanford looked like a high school team.

Thankfully, I have the NFL to take me away from all of this. Furiously building line ups at fanduel and draftkings, it’s gonna be a wild ride today.

Bumgarner vs someone I’ve never heard of if baseball is more your speed on Sundays.

Kontos took the L for Pirates last night as Cards won 8th out of last 10. Came in bottom 8 tie game, gave up leadoff double 2 ground outs now 0-6. Not going to be missed.

Not a great night for Pac 12 either. Utah beat BYU by 6 points, Wazzu had to go triple OT to beat Boise St., Oregon State got waxed by Minnesota at home, and AZ and ASU lost at home to Houston and SD St (Cards next opponent). Cal did get a W, but gave up 43o passing yards and 570 over all to FCS Weber St. not good.

Gotta admit, no baseball yesterday and not watching any today either. Dodgers series starts here Monday.

Go Bears ! Leading the Pac 12 charge…

Bumgarner sits in favor of lefty DH Parker. When was the last time a team’s 1B hit 9th?
I have a feeling this insult will put Ryder Jones on a tear…

      Or in tears.

Last I heard yesterday before turning off that mess, Pence and Panda were a combined 2 for 66 or some such. WTF? Why are these dudes even playing during September? Radio said the plan was to play Slater “every other day”? Why not every day? WTF? Why is Bumgarner even active at this point? WTF? This front office has managed this season like it has a collective concussion. At least they finally decided to get Melancon off the mound and to his surgery. Bruce Jenkins this morning called that situation “ridiculous”. That goes for this whole season…

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 10, 2017 at 10:26 am

Exactly. or next year for that matter. I’d waive Pence in a heartbeat—great guy but he’s done. Time to use the kids see who can stick/what you have to acquire next year. CF biggest hole to fill and Evans can’t dumpster dive with Gorkys.

D co-ordinator for Titans is just turned 80 yrs old Dick LeBeau. I remember him as all pro corner for Lions in ’60s who had all L- secondary. Yale Lary (great punter) Gary Lowe and Dick Night Train Lane.

  5. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 10, 2017 at 1:03 pm

    Another pitiful performance going on.
Bum shelled. Why they have him going out there is beyond me. Shut him down.
If the Doghairs lose to this POS Giants team this week, then the LA fans better be worried…

The Dodgers will be thinking the Giants are the cure for what ails them.

Also a 4-game series at Philly next week.

      • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 10, 2017 at 1:14 pm

Good point. Plus 6 total left with the Giants.
10 games the Dodgers are looking forward to on their remaining schedule.

  7. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 10, 2017 at 1:13 pm

    White Sox are doggy doo.
And they are ripping the Giants for 2 straight games.
    18 games left including today.
Assuming this ends in a loss, SF will need 11 more losses out of 17 to hit 100.
    Very possible, if not likely.
Baer should cut season ticket prices for next year after this debacle…

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 10, 2017 at 1:17 pm

Especially since the team’s performance is not going to be hugely different next season.
The hope is they draft well with the high draft picks.

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 10, 2017 at 1:22 pm

I want to see a stud, athletic, power hitting RHOF drafted for the first pick.
        No phucking pitcher…

  8. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 10, 2017 at 1:25 pm

Why is Span starting? Gorkys? Where the F is Slater? That guy should be playing every day. Jones should be playing 3b or the OF and Posey at 1B, with Hundley catching. There is no reason Posey should be catching much the rest of the season, just so he can break a finger or get a concussion back there…

    Answer to Loo’s 9:55:

None other than Joey Gallo has hit 9th as a first baseman numerous times this season, the last on July 30 (not sure if this is the last time in all of MLB).

Tomlinson gets a hit. He’s better than some of the guys playing ahead of him.

I still marvel at all the crap that comes out of Hershiser’s mouth. He is the true descendant of Lasorda. The puffery and arrogance, and gobbly-gook. It’s always a reminder of why we hate the Dodgers.

  12. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 10, 2017 at 2:08 pm

Last night Hershiser said the Dodgers aren’t playing for anything right now. That’s completely untrue. Besides the NL home field advantage still in play, I don’t think the Dodgers think it’s OK to stagger into the playoffs.

This two week Dodger fall off the cliff streak is pretty amusing, for SF fans.
Thing is, it looks a lot like the Giants have played all season…

  20. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 10, 2017 at 6:17 pm

It’s going to be a little sad the lineup the Giants throw out there against the Dodgers.
    Something like:
    Span
    Panik
    Posey
    Crawford
    Pence
    Parker
    Sandoval
    Jones
    Stratton
It would be nice to give the Dodgers their 11th straight loss.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 10, 2017 at 6:23 pm

I hope the fans are rockin’ the place and the Giants give an inspired performance.
      Hey, I can hope!

I can’t decide how I feel about this upcoming series. On one hand I’d like them to win for obvious reasons. But that would make it harder for them to lose 100 games, something I think they really need to get stuck in their ear hole. Both teams playing like 100 loss teams, I suppose anything could happen.

The family is bugging me about going to a game. This has to be the quietest season in a long time per the kids wanting to go to the yard. Only one game so far this year.

I suppose going to the Dogs would be the way to go. Just like the good old bad old days . . .

Or almost one-third of the Giants’ win total.

  24. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 10, 2017 at 8:14 pm

Pablo now 1 for 47. Sheezus, I think I might even do that by accident just by swinging at every damn pitch I can actually see in 47 straight PAs. Or, trying to bunt in 47 PAs and forcing somebody to make a play on maybe 1/4 of ’em I actually got the ball in play.
Ya think, maybe the Red Sox were right…

Bochy’s smile was so big after the 3-run HR, Pablo really is a special player, he’s done so much for us, look at how happy everyone in the dugout is for Pablo, this game is more than about numbers.
