A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Back To Baseball

Ok, THIS ONE they should be able to get in. Not with this moment as any indication, it’s pouring like a motherfucker right now. My daughter’s flight back to Costa Rica already got canceled. Props to @virginamerica for quickly getting her on another flight tomorrow….

Anyway, I’m cautiously optimistic about the game today. Stratton is proving to have a reliable major league arm and I think the Giants are going to do better against Hill this time around. Shedding the mental weight of the season’s opening series, they should be able to track and mash that curve ball a little better tonight…..

Anyone jazzed about The Masters? It’s shaping up to be an epic weekend. Several of golfs biggest names are poised near the top to battle and it’s going to be fun to watch them target that pussy snake-in-the-grass Patrick Reed (somehow currently winning)….

Rivalries really are cool. Sure the Astros are a cool team, but the real fun for everyone was watching them take down LA.
I graduated from Jose State over 40 yrs ago but I still get chuckle out when Fresno St loses.

Last season I coached HS ball our gym was being remodeled and we couldn’t play or practice there. One of the ADs used to help schedule practices, occasionally at our hated rivals. One night we (varsity and Jvs worth of kids) were waiting to use Main Gym there and the Dance Team walks in. We talked to their AD also a b-ball coach and he told us we could use the small gym or leave.
so when we kicked their ass, twice, at their place during league I pointed to scoreboard and thanked him for the extra motivation and that we’d beat them anywhere.

Loo thx for link end of last thread on Beede start and minors guys.

Duggar, in small sample size, has struck out 4 times in his first 2 games. He’s not a power hitter (and LH beside) and needs to make contact to utilize his speed. Striking out a lot, vs. AAA pitchers, would be a red flag to me he needs to make adjustment to do anything vs. ML pitching.

Another Giant prospect, C.J. Hinojosa, who is the team’s No. 17-ranked prospect, suspended for 50 games (steroids). Get better drugs a la Bonds or stay away from them. Just my take, but this kid’s career is over before it started.

Rough night for the Yanks: Lost in 14 innings to the O’s on a grand slam by Pedro Alvarez, then place Sabathia (hip) and Drury (migraines) on the 10-day DL.

10 days for a migraine? Mine are over in a few hours.

      • Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on April 7, 2018 at 9:51 am

From the Daily News: Meanwhile, there is a lot more uncertainty and seriousness with Drury’s bout of migraines and blurry vision. The Yankees infielder said on Saturday he has experienced migraines for “a long time” and admitted he has been battling these symptoms since spring training. Drury had gone hitless in his last 10 at bats and did not play Thursday before being pulled out of the game in the sixth inning Friday.

“My vision is very blurry and it’s baseball, I need to have my eyes to be able to play,” he said. “Last few games I feel like I haven’t been close to what I have been at physically to play this game and help the team win games.”

Amazed he played one inning (one at bat) with blurry vision. Is he crazy?

Patrick Reed is a scumbag who should of been tossed off his college team at Georgia.
Teammates not only caught him cheating on the golf course, but also in the locker room allegedly stealing a watch,a putter, and $400 in cash which of course he denied saying he hustled a professor on a round the day before.Teammates asked the professor about that and he said I haven’t played with him in over a month..The Guy is pondscum..

    • sandog's avatar sandog said, on April 7, 2018 at 11:16 am

He did get tossed off the team at Georgia. And barely hung on at his next school–that he led to 2 NCAA titles. He certainly makes an easy villain with his track record of behavior. I watched most of his round yesterday as he was playing with Charley Hoffman from San Diego. Also in the group was Adam Hadwin—young Canadian who impressed me with his game and demeanor.
Contrarian that I am, I’m warming up to Reed a bit and wouldn’t mind seeing him win as opposed to one of the golden boys like Spieth or McElroy.

Exactly what pisses me off about Belt.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on April 7, 2018 at 6:02 pm

Yeah, he needs to be more aggressive late in games when he could potentially hit a game-winning HR. He needs to think situationally.

    Gift strike three vs. Craw.

  39. willedav's avatar willedav said, on April 7, 2018 at 6:00 pm

And there’s the thing that bugs me about Belt. Yes it’s borderline strike. But with the shift on he has all that room on left side…and the pitcher helps him out by pitching away from his D. That ball was up so if he taps it down the line auto double. Dude pls just try it instead of trusting your eye and the ump.

      • willedav's avatar willedav said, on April 7, 2018 at 6:29 pm

Sure, it ain’t easy. but pitcher is doing him a favor by throwing up and out over the plate when IF is all pulled around the opposite direction. He learns to take advantage of that, maybe they shift less often or not as fully.

      • James's avatar James said, on April 7, 2018 at 6:39 pm

My disappointment with that AB was the first fastball down the middle he fouled back. The Giants have no interest in having Belt try to hit “situationally.” His game is a high OBP and a fair number of extra base hits. That’s what he’s ok at.
