Back To Baseball
Ok, THIS ONE they should be able to get in. Not with this moment as any indication, it’s pouring like a motherfucker right now. My daughter’s flight back to Costa Rica already got canceled. Props to @virginamerica for quickly getting her on another flight tomorrow….
Anyway, I’m cautiously optimistic about the game today. Stratton is proving to have a reliable major league arm and I think the Giants are going to do better against Hill this time around. Shedding the mental weight of the season’s opening series, they should be able to track and mash that curve ball a little better tonight…..
Anyone jazzed about The Masters? It’s shaping up to be an epic weekend. Several of golfs biggest names are poised near the top to battle and it’s going to be fun to watch them target that pussy snake-in-the-grass Patrick Reed (somehow currently winning)….
Rivalries really are cool. Sure the Astros are a cool team, but the real fun for everyone was watching them take down LA.
I graduated from Jose State over 40 yrs ago but I still get chuckle out when Fresno St loses.
Last season I coached HS ball our gym was being remodeled and we couldn’t play or practice there. One of the ADs used to help schedule practices, occasionally at our hated rivals. One night we (varsity and Jvs worth of kids) were waiting to use Main Gym there and the Dance Team walks in. We talked to their AD also a b-ball coach and he told us we could use the small gym or leave.
so when we kicked their ass, twice, at their place during league I pointed to scoreboard and thanked him for the extra motivation and that we’d beat them anywhere.
Loo thx for link end of last thread on Beede start and minors guys.
Duggar, in small sample size, has struck out 4 times in his first 2 games. He’s not a power hitter (and LH beside) and needs to make contact to utilize his speed. Striking out a lot, vs. AAA pitchers, would be a red flag to me he needs to make adjustment to do anything vs. ML pitching.
for those who are interested….

McGregor is such a douchebag ..
Another Giant prospect, C.J. Hinojosa, who is the team’s No. 17-ranked prospect, suspended for 50 games (steroids). Get better drugs a la Bonds or stay away from them. Just my take, but this kid’s career is over before it started.
Rough night for the Yanks: Lost in 14 innings to the O’s on a grand slam by Pedro Alvarez, then place Sabathia (hip) and Drury (migraines) on the 10-day DL.
10 days for a migraine? Mine are over in a few hours.
From the Daily News: Meanwhile, there is a lot more uncertainty and seriousness with Drury’s bout of migraines and blurry vision. The Yankees infielder said on Saturday he has experienced migraines for “a long time” and admitted he has been battling these symptoms since spring training. Drury had gone hitless in his last 10 at bats and did not play Thursday before being pulled out of the game in the sixth inning Friday.
“My vision is very blurry and it’s baseball, I need to have my eyes to be able to play,” he said. “Last few games I feel like I haven’t been close to what I have been at physically to play this game and help the team win games.”
“My vision is very blurry and it’s baseball, I need to have my eyes to be able to play,” he said. “Last few games I feel like I haven’t been close to what I have been at physically to play this game and help the team win games.”
Amazed he played one inning (one at bat) with blurry vision. Is he crazy?
Patrick Reed is a scumbag who should of been tossed off his college team at Georgia.
Teammates not only caught him cheating on the golf course, but also in the locker room allegedly stealing a watch,a putter, and $400 in cash which of course he denied saying he hustled a professor on a round the day before.Teammates asked the professor about that and he said I haven’t played with him in over a month..The Guy is pondscum..
He did get tossed off the team at Georgia. And barely hung on at his next school–that he led to 2 NCAA titles. He certainly makes an easy villain with his track record of behavior. I watched most of his round yesterday as he was playing with Charley Hoffman from San Diego. Also in the group was Adam Hadwin—young Canadian who impressed me with his game and demeanor.
Contrarian that I am, I’m warming up to Reed a bit and wouldn’t mind seeing him win as opposed to one of the golden boys like Spieth or McElroy.
Whoa, two eagles for Reed on the back nine.
Blue sky!
“Sun is shinin’ in the sky
There ain’t a cloud in sight
It’s stopped rainin’ everybody’s in a play
And don’t you know
It’s a beautiful new day, hey hey
Runnin’ down the avenue
See how the sun shines brightly in the city
On the streets where once was pity
Mister blue sky is living here today, hey hey
Mister blue sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long (so long)”
A large traveling group of Dodger fans is in the bleachers.

Good start.
Longoria killed the rally, though.
Great time for a hit-and-run with a guy who’s batting .050 and has struck out once every 3 ABs.
Great point.
But with a speedster like Posey in 1B . . . .
Pretty nice day at the park. Great boos for Puig
The 3-1 Hill threw Belt was a lot better than the one Stratton threw Utley.
Jackson isn’t hitting jack.
That 1958 Giant motorcade looks an awful lot like Dallas in 1963…
Great strikeout of Bellinger. Stratton exploited the holes in his swing. It’s such an exaggerated uppercut swing.
Bombster!
nice to get to this fuck finally….
Pence does not look all that steady in LF.
2 run lead, and Stratton goes full nibble for some reason.
Oshit.
Stratton pitched himself right out this game with his nibbling.
Bellinger has already HR-ed vs. Osich.
Whatever happened to that lefty we got from the Twins? Is he done?
Smith? He’s not back yet.
When he is, he can’t be any worse than Osich.
He’s gotta be getting close, he was hurt in ST over a year ago.
Why does Bochy keep going to that guy?
WTF
We saw this kind of bullpen a lot last year.
Big hit from Belt. Let’s see if the bullpen can hold the lead.
Spoiler alert: no.
Didn’t take long to find out.
Anybody but Utley.
Atta kid Austin.
Alright there it is, my bugaboo about Panik.
Jackson doubles to lead off inning, Panik pops out to CF and fails to advance him. Arrggh simple ground out to right side moves him over.
You’re the first one I thought of after that flyout.
Dyson had two good appearances to start the year but that was awful. He threw a batting practice change up to Utley. Embarrassing.
Watson wasn’t as sharp today, but he got through it.
nice comeback inning from Watson to K Grandal there.
But…he’s thrown 24 pitches so likely unavailable for tmw. Does that mean Oshit is only LHP option in pen?
The Giants sure do strike out a lot this season so far.
Exactly what pisses me off about Belt.
Yeah, he needs to be more aggressive late in games when he could potentially hit a game-winning HR. He needs to think situationally.
Gift strike three vs. Craw.
And there’s the thing that bugs me about Belt. Yes it’s borderline strike. But with the shift on he has all that room on left side…and the pitcher helps him out by pitching away from his D. That ball was up so if he taps it down the line auto double. Dude pls just try it instead of trusting your eye and the ump.
Great point.
If he could bunt like Brett Butler, have bat control like Pete Rose, and hit for power like Joey Gallo, everybody would love Brandon!
Sure, it ain’t easy. but pitcher is doing him a favor by throwing up and out over the plate when IF is all pulled around the opposite direction. He learns to take advantage of that, maybe they shift less often or not as fully.
My disappointment with that AB was the first fastball down the middle he fouled back. The Giants have no interest in having Belt try to hit “situationally.” His game is a high OBP and a fair number of extra base hits. That’s what he’s ok at.
Nice play by Craw, but the dude needs to find his stick.
Got away with a hanger there, Hunter.
Good throw to second by pence
Strick still inspires very little confidence
At-em ball from Bellinger. Nice break.
All of a sudden this ump loves the pitch off the plate.
Can someone at least go down swinging?
Craw and Pablo seem to have caught Belt disease. Ironically, Belt’s strike 3 looking was the only one over the plate.
Extra innings . . . it’s not August, and the game didn’t start at 7. Cool.
Fuck…
Jeez, if you had the Marlins and 17 runs today, you still lost money.
Shaw-gwaa is it?
From Sulphur, LA no less.
No frickin’ luck . . . Last week, that dude was Brenly at 3rd base.
Speaking of Will Smith, it sounds like he’s almost back. Oshit may be headed back to Sac Town.
The new guys strike out a lot.
like Moronto a lot. Goes after guys. Movement. Strike thrower. More of him please.
I like him, too. Signed with the Giants in 2010 as an intl FA.
I would’ve been a lot more worried there with Kershaw up.
Moronta’s one of my favorites too. Insane K/IP ratio in the minors.
If he had walked the pitcher, he should go the visiting locker room at the end of the game
Jansen’s at 90 mph.
We get to Jansen this inning. Velocity is again down.
The way Longo was swinging you’d of thought he was throwing 100.
Zero confidence in Longo (or Wrongo as Mac said). Dude had worst season ever last year, so that tells me a lot. What really makes this look bad in the early going is that he gets paid forever (or it seems that way). Only hope is that he is learning the National League and will do better going forward.
Wrongo.
Pence, Craw and Longo look really lost. I’m not sure Pence has it at all anymore. Crawford too.
The bullpen gets a chance to shine some more.
Moronta is the new Juan Machi.
You mean Jean.
Glad you’re not TF, Blade.
lol . . . Well, I could have pointed out that Jean’s fastball never even sniffed 94, much less 96-99 a la Moronta.
Yeah, I remembered Machi’s FB velocity, if not the reminder that it wasn’t just the Spanish and Brits.
Wait, I think he did hit 94 on occasion — just didn’t top it much. Just for the record.
Moronta looks a lot bigger than his listed 6′ 175 lbs.
LJ, that was his signing weight. He’s about 230 now.
Signing weight. LOL
Moronta doesn’t get much help from this ump.
whoosh! Moronta blows it right by Seager at 97 to retire side.
This dude has some nasty stuff.
Taylor swings with a big uppercut. The league should be able to expose that this year.
I think, in general, teams are getting a little better at pitching to the big launch angles.
Agree. I think some were onto that last year.
Here ya go LJ . . . https://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/9/26/16352468/hard-throwing-reyes-moronta-looks-for-spot-in-giants-pen
I’ve seen some stuff on him, Blade, but had not read that piece. Thanks.
🙂
Thanks Blade. He’s been great so far, hope he can keep it up. That 2-seamer is nasty.
Gomez. This could be scary.
Pitching pretty good. Our Hitting is so painful to watch. Watching Longoria pull his head as he swings as hard as he can when we just need a single. I thought this guy was a “professional hitter”!!!! Freaking awful
Good points . . . Yes, he seems out of balance/flailing almost.
Yeah, he couldn’t make contact on a struggling Jansen.
Giants seem to hit more ground ball outs when they aren’t striking out. iirc column on F/G recently showed how trend of those has gone way down last couple years vs. fly ball outs.
Crap . . . I see a pfffttt coming.
Giants brought this shit on themselves by not being able to bring home runners repeatedly. Frustrating that now we’re in the 14th with this jerkoff pitching
That and the four BBs by Stratton. Those hurt, too.
yup. Longo sucks dongo . . .
