September Snooze
Kinda grasping at straws right now to find anything interesting about Giants games these days much less something interesting to write about. You guys are good at filling up the comment section with trivia, music videos, fav hamburger joints, etc….I’ll check back in when my haul from AMPM arrives or before if something more interesting than that happens. Unlikely.
Up to 4 wins in September. Maybe our contest will get interesting.
Let’s go 8!!! There’s a Flappy on the line!!!
…and that Pence/Posey homers after the ASB 4.5 over/under is becoming mighty interesting as well!
Errrr, maybe not. I think last night made 3, but it might actually be only 2. Pence did crush that though and I was there to see it. Maybe the last homer of his career?
what was the crowd like? Yes, that was his last homerun. And Loo thanks for reminding me about the Sept win total contest. There IS a Flappy on the line.
4…wins for month and in last 5 games.
4 hits for Shaw last 2 nights
4 shutout innings from pen after unfortunate HR Holland gave up that Shaw might have caught.
There was also some fan interference drama in A’s game, where Piscotty got messed with on foul ball. Batter later singled and as inning went on Angels hit a grand slam and won 9-7
Four is also my absolute fav Miles Davis cut, done with quintet Coltrane R Garland P Chambers Philly Joe Jones; tune was written by Eddie Cleanhead Vinson.
4 is also direct opposite of lucky number 8 to Chinese.
I used to use numbers for out of bounds plays–run 1 vs. zone D 2 vs. man yada yada. Sometimes I’d tell the kids in a time out no matter what number I call out just run play 1. But in Asian league, I learned 4 was a no no.
Doesn’t 4 mean death? Or 4 sounds like death?
On my China New Star take-out menu #4 is the pepper steak with onion combination plate.
Yes, it’s death…
After Pence first couple ABs with the bomb and double, cbs site shows twitter stuff highlights. One of the comments made was “suck on it haters.”
Then of course with sacks loaded he hits patented dribbler that pitcher throws home for the force. I mean how many dribblers to the IF over last couple years? His OPS is still .569 or something and D very suspect.
I’d say no to Sando too but I have feeling IF bochy is back he gets an invite to ST. Aren’t Sox still paying him next year, or not? Really tho, salary is irrelevant he is just isn’t very good anymore.
Like Flav says he is just fill in replacement level at this point. And this is part of Giants problem vs. D Bax or LA. Those teams can bring good hitters with power off the bench/platoon while Giants have Sando and D’Arnauds of the world.
Yes, the Panda has one more year at a cost of $ 500,000 to SF…
Crowd was predictably on the small side. Still a good chunk of Giants fans, but not as loud or large as usual.
It’s nice Pence homered.
It masks for one minute the near worthless $18 million season he’s had otherwise. If they give him the Willie Mac award, IMO that will sully the importance of the award…
I think Gorks has it sewn up…
Ilm leaning toward Hundo.
I was too, till someone (Mac?) said he won it last year…

Who knew?
I don’t get why homeplate umps allow Turner to saunter back to the ump after every close strike call, and plead his case. It’s bull-crud.Who else is allowed to do that? After EVERY close strike call. Why is Turner granted this special privilege? Seriously, is it a case of white privilege? Would they allow a person of color to walk back to the ump and dispute every close strike call?
I would love for an ump to tell him to get his scraggly beard-face back to the plate and stop walking back to the ump. And throw him out if he does it again.
I thought umps were hyper-sensitive about being “shown up.” They allow Turner to show them up during practically every AB.
I’d go with DRod are Holland
I don’t think Holland gets it after his “Asian” impersonation on the MLB network a few weeks back. I doubt that sits well with ownership and will likely result in his name being thrown out of the hat.
I just read this article about discord between Belichick and Brady. This sort of supports what I and other Flappers have been saying about Tom Brady versus other great QBs . . .
“Brady started worrying for his job almost immediately after Belichick cited his age and contract status — and the coach’s desire to be “early rather than late at that position” — when the Patriots drafted Garoppolo in 2014. One New England assistant said the general feeling among staff members around that time wasn’t that Belichick’s system could make Super Bowl quarterbacks out of all 32 NFL starters. “But if you gave us any of the top 15, we could do it,” the assistant said. “I don’t think the coaches view Tom as special as everyone else in football does. Mr. Kraft thinks Tom is the greatest gift ever, but the coaches don’t.”

Yeah, they said the same thing about Montana. That he was merely the product of a great system. And it bears out that a lot of guys like Elvis Grbac, Guy Benjamin, Steve Bono. etc. look good enough; like Matt Cassell, Bryan Hoyer, and Jimmy G.
We’ll xee how Jimmy works out, but most of the rest were dud-ohs, ti use one of my kids words.
My Willie Mac vote would be for Pablo. He hit 9 HRs 40 RBIs in his bench role filling in at 3B, 1B, 2B and he pitched a perfect inning. Also, as the emergency catcher allowed the Giants to use Hundley as a PHer. Gotta be the Panda.
Yeah why not Bozo, He’s also the #1 runner to the buffet spread..
Hell, Kat, he probably even cooked the spread..
I could see Posey winning the Willie Mac for playing on an injured hip this season, and for his work in the community.
Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft
My dark horse Willie Mac winner is Will Smith.
He’ll be a deadline deal next July.
farther you get away from the ball the more shit you talk, lol
I watched the 95 parade down Market St. from an office building and, at least in memory, I think Deion tried to steal that show too.
too funny Just posted that on my blog.
Hah! Strat with the 3 run double!
And now strat can’t buy an out
ooooops
Spin Rate won’t be in the running for the Willie Mac award, that’s for sure.
Stratt can stick around as a #5 or whatever. As long as he doesn’t have any more kids. Still laughing out loud at Krukow who just this week called him “one of the best arms in the national league”
Stratton exhausted from running the triple ?…
Kruk is bending over backwards to blame the shitty inning on the double.
We just need to focus . . .
Big favorite!
Somehow I knew that!
My best friend at the time was a great whistler…
Love the comments on this song. One guy says they play this song like the tour bus is double parked. Th4e guitar playing is pretty nuts. as for the singer . . .
Shit where has Hanson been?
my dad was a historic whistler. I whistle like a pussy. It’s one of my hidden shames…..
It’s a lost art. I’m terrible at it, too…
I can whistle good, but I never got it down how you roll your tongue 👅 in your throat to vibrate names to come out funny..Shit am I making any sense??
no
My sister can hit about 100 db. Annoying af.
wow nice shot from the new 1b.
I think I still have half a bottle like that laying somewhere in back of the bottom of the bathroom sink’s vanity. But, I’m not gonna look because I’ll probably start a muscle spasm in my back stretching around back there…
There’s nothing quite like it…
Whistling is a kind of curse of our species.
There are ships in the navy that post “no whistling” signs to remind oblivious whistlers not to torment their shipmates.
What multiple academy award winning movie begins with a whistle?
Hint: It shaped my life forever…
Bridge on the river Kwai? Was going to say the Andy Griffith show, but you said academy awards and I also told myself, “Andy Griffith and shaping Loo’s life???? Nah . . . “
Cool hand luke?
Not a bad guess, Chuck. I still wear a church key around my neck like CHL…
wow
Black is Strickland-esque.
If it’s Bridge Over The River Kwai, I’m curious how that would shape a viewer’s life.
Speaking of Blanco (said no one ever) . . . How about him for the Mac award?
Giants game result and waiting breathlessly for the answer to Loo’s life shaping movie. My life is boring. 🙂
I’m so glad I watched that game. jeezus
Thinking of Clint’s absence and thought Loo’s life could have also been shaped by a “Fistful of Dollars.”
Zazie dans le metro starts with a great whistle, but somehow I doubt that’s the movie under investigation.
Great under appreciated Louis Malle film.
Queneau’s novel’s excellent.
Hampton Sides’ well-written book “Ghost Soldiers” is an epic telling of the Bataan Deathmarch and of sadistic treatment of U.S. POWs by the Japanese soldiers on the march and in POW camps. It’s amazing anyone survived.
Great book. It’s about a daring rescue mission.

The answer is West Side Story.
My mother took me to see it when i was about 5 – just to get out of the heat for awhile because back then an air conditioned theatre was about the only place to get relief. I walked out of there wanting to be a Puerto Rican gang member. I think it had a lot to do with me connecting with the Giants and their many Latino players…
Also fell in love with Rita Moreno…
oh yeah, now i remember that whistle
Agree about Rita Moreno. Natalie was pretty. Rita Moreno was just plain smokin’….
I could watch this all night…

my god the espn announcers love the dodgers. you’d think puig’s pinch hit home run just won the world series.
Bochy never gets pointed questions from the media after a loss. Pretty comfortable questions. It’s a west coast media thing. Everyone’s comfortable.
Everybody’s laughing
Everybody’s happy
Ah, side 2 of Abby Road. Wonderful awesomeness.
Good job, Zum!
Pretty nice cover version from these folks:
Dodgers are going to win their 6th NL West title in a row. The Giants won a World Series during that streak. That’s awesomely funny and cool.
Besides Rita Moreno, very early memories of Ann Margret in Bye Bye Birdie. I remember seeing that with my whole family at the drive-in theater. Family film. Sitting there in the back seat, watching her on the screen might be my first recollection of a hard-on.
For some reason I saw Viva Maria when I was a teenager (speaking of Louis Malle). Hilariously good Central American revolutionary satire starring Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau. I was stunned.
Hopefully it was yours, Paul…
Speaking of cover versions, pretty darned cool cover of “Picture Book” from a band while traveling in a tour bus:
Dbacks sucking so T Luvello put in Sept call ups in the line up. They kicked ass on Cole Hamels. What a concept. take out the stars if they are sucking!!!
