Exciting Times (For Some)
While the Giants have been left for dead for what looks like many years of wandering in the wilderness, the rest of the baseball world is humming along at an exciting rate. We get not one but TWO epic Game 163’s to determine the NL Central and West division crowns.
I see the Dodgers and Brewers both winning but I want to see Milwaukee’s pitching plan first before going all in on them. If I were them I’d go bullpen game, they have the arms to do it. Starting Chacin doesn’t feel like they’d be firing their best bullet…..

I also like to see the Stros quietly destroy the AL…
I’d much rather see the Brew Crew win it all than the Cubs, but I think the Cubs have a better chance of eliminating the Dodgers, so I’m pulling for them to win the division.
Gotta give credit to Bud Selig’s administration for this Wild Card format. It was a fantastic idea—right down to the identical starting times for all games on the last day.

How Boch survives this I don’t know. Losing 197 games in 2 years is pretty fricking awful. Yeah he plays what he has, but he didn’t need to blow smoke up Pence’s ass all year, or keep throwing Cueto/Smargle out there when both were hurt, not getting Duggar and Slater going faster, and trotting Melonhead out there when he was scuffling badly. Strickland has been a piece of shit who has overstayed his welcome, on and on.
The format certainly makes for a pretty cool set of games in the next couple days. Can’t believe the O’s lost 115 games.
As a Giants fan, things could be a lot worse. 5 playoff appearances since the Orioles last WS win, 1983. , and it was won by Joe Altobelli, he of the improbable Giants 1978 division run. I assumed it was Earl Weaver back then for the O’s.

Now that the Giants season has ended I sort of feel relieved – like passing a watermelon.
Echoing what snarkk said – Giants brass need to begin the rebuild ASAP and MUST have a GM in place before the annual General Managers Meeting in early November.

I also like 2 females, Kim Ng and Jean Afterman. I hope both of them are considered too. What I don’t want to see – are retreads like Mike Rizzo. Baer said something about the next GM being “next gen.” To me that describes someone as being relatively young and knows analytics.
I can see Ng or Afterman getting the gig. Deservedly so as both are qualified. Plus Baer can’t resist the pr angle.
I don’t think I have ever seen a Giants team just lay down against the Dodgers, like they did this last weekend. What happened to playing with pride.
Kev, I don’t think they laid down, especially for the Dodgers. All of our players play with pride. Frankly, our team sucks and just doesn’t have the “horsepower” to stay with a team like the Dodgers. I think all of the players were disgusted with the score yesterday, but again – their skills aren’t nearly good enough to keep up with an elite team like the Bums. Their record of 5-20 for the month of September is the worst in franchise history. That says everything about this team.

You were supposed to buy 5 or 6 albums at full price to fulfill the obligation. But they also sent a letter every two weeks or so with the name of a featured album, and you had the send a card back in a week or so to say you DIDN’T want the featured album, or they would automatically send it to you, with the bill. A lot of people put letters like that in a stack, and procrastinate, and then here comes that album in the mail with the bill. I don’t think you were allowed to send the featured album back. I’m guessing there probably was a clause that said the “featured” albums didn’t count towards your completion of the obligation.

Agree John . . . I’ll be rooting for them and my “closet” favorite, Cleveland, to win it all. I wont be disappointed if the Astros win it either.

At one point Dodgers had 5 starters and had brought up Beuhler because of injuries. At one point LA had 5/6 of them on the DL at the same time. They also had Turner hurt a lot. I hate to say this but they have more talent and more depth. If Bochy and Sabean can’t see this they are delusional.
Nobody in charge ever bad mouths their players – at least individually.
