Red Socked in the 7th
Our idiot Liar in Chief decided to chime in on baseball last night:

Look, fans always want to have it both ways. And if Trump is saying it you know it’s a fools take. But when a guy has pitched 10 innings in 4 weeks you don’t just leave him out there until it all falls apart. Cora took a ton of shit for leaving Rodriguez in TOO LONG. And Roberts literally just watched that blow up in his face. Hill had thrown more than 100 pitches 3 times all season. They had a commanding lead. To top it off, Hill literally told Roberts he was nearly done. And while the bullpen was gassed from the night before, if you had told Roberts before the game he was going to get Hill into the 7th inning he would have thanked God and confidently gone to his bullpen. Now, you can argue with his bullpen choices I guess, but that’s lame. The bullpen is there for a reason. You have to use it and these guys either perform or they don’t. That’s not totally on the manager.
Ugh, defending Roberts just took a lot out of me. Time to wrap this thread up (as well as the series later tonight).
My favorite image from last night:

Fuck LA. #4lyfe
If the new Giants GM goes chasing after this MOFO with a Brinks truck, tack on another 2-3 years to the existing wilderness years . . . blowing bubbles and playing dirty again (stepping on Pearce’s heel). Man, I hate this clown.
https://twitter.com/barstoolsports/status/1056397733278482434
total clown. He looks like one, too. Go braid your hair again, bitch.
Good post regarding the President . . . We have 3 psychos terrorizing synagogues, Kroger grocery stores, and prominent people who’d been criticized by the President, yet numb nuts finds time – I guess between his golf and Kanye West meetings – to criticize a baseball manager. What a tool.
I don’t think the Giants were ever getting in on this dope.
There’s no position for him to play with Longoria and Crawford’s contracts blocking him…
Agreed
Lasorda with the just shoot me now signal.

I think anyone giving Dave Roberts and the Fodgers shit is priceless…a President is not supposed to watch a World Series game now on a Saturday night around 10 pm???
We had an American journalist get his head chopped off and Obama went off and immediately played golf…so a little perspective and balance does everyone some good. If Trump had done the same, he would have been rightly criticized but if he had, the media would have obsessed over it for 3 weeks. Obama had done so and there were mass media crickets then. Again, straight facts.
I missed the Moreland homer live as I had given up on the Sox. The pitch that Madson threw may have been the worst pitch (85 mph change up with a 4 run lead and 2 on) I have ever seen in a World Series game…
I didn’t say shit about a president watching a baseball game. That being said, you’re right about Obama playing golf after that incident. He shouldn’t have done it and he was called on it and said he was wrong to have done so. That being said, this current President is the most despicable person in the world . . . Go ahead, try to argue that. lqtm.
Thems the straight facts. Gracias Blade
That’s your opinion. Your hypocrisy is stunning, Blade. lqtm
I have no idea about hypocrisy LJ. Go ahead defend Trump as a human being??? I am wrong though, that Crown Prince in Saudi Arabia is more despicable than Trump, i.e., I have no proof that Trump has murdered someone or put a “contract” on any innocent people.
‘Nuff said on my part.
That title at least goes to that ambulance chaser Avenatti…but if people are looking at numbers, Trump is at his highest approval number so far. People overlook that for all his faults, he still connects with middle America and southerners. You carry those demographics, you hold Congress and we are likely picking up Senate seats.
I can vote for MBS as well and a simple assassination takes care of that issue…
Trump has played more golf than Phil Mickelson. And he called neo-Nazis fine fellows. For all the criticism Trump gets, he deserves. And then some. He was worried about his hair on a day a synagogue was shot up and 11 people died.
Enough cannot be said about the voter suppression going on in the south, and all over the country. But whatever it takes, amirite?
Funny how an anti-semite can be so pro-Israel. All about the weapons.
Does that mean he is anti-his son in law???
Why are you surprised, GH?
And before I get chastized by Flav for bringing in the politics, Fuck the Fodgers…and that is all the politics I will bring today…and fyi I am headed home to Bay Tuesday for 8 days!!!
I thought Nixon was the worst president in my lifetime. Wrong. Not even close. Drumpf is intentionally trying to divide this country, to split us apart. For his own personal gain, and perhaps other reasons yet to be known. He has no ideology, except promote himself. Always it’s about him. Putin could not have done better at degrading this country had he a puppet in the Oval Office. Hmmm…
Bin Laden played Bush like a fiddle and Putin is doing much the same with Trump.
My main man in action:
Much as I disliked Nixon, I thought Bush was worse. Nixon brought about relations with China and started the EPA, FFS. Bush started the needless war in Iraq. If he had kept up the war in Afghanistan, that war would have been over 9 years ago. Instead, it drags on.
This guy wasn’t too popular back here…
Btw, I don’t see how the doghairs don’t get a new manager after this series is done. You can’t keep a manager who has lost two straight WS…
Texas kept Ron Washington, for better or worse.
Can’t believe I beat MacDog to that one!
6 years ago today Sergio Romo freezes Caberá with a 2-2 count fastball as “THE SF GIANTS” Sweep the Detroit Tigers 4 games to ZERO!!
Take notes Freakin Dodgers that’s how you close out a game and Series, something you chumps will never accomplish!!!
Yeah, Machado ain’t our guy…..Harper is.
Bring back the Posey/Belt/Panik/Craw/Longo infield and sign Harper and a couple of other low budget free agent pitchers and outfielders while you’re at it and call it an off season.
We don’t need some hotshot analytics GM to pull that off. Someone who can work with Boras and knows how to find value on the free agent market can handle that;
Bring in the visionary GM once we clear the decks of these contracts in a few years and he has some room to operate.
Wreck-It Ralph couldn’t tear down this roster with all these contracts.
Hey Dawg, our Chiefs are lookin’ good, but a friend whose football knowledge I really respect said Snacks Harrison would’ve been the perfect addition – the run stuffer that the Chiefs haven’t had since Dan Saleaumua. Thinks it was a huge mistake not getting him. Made me very upset…
Seahawks 176 rushing yards, Snacks didn’t seem to help the Lions much today.
Thanks, Mac.
I feel better already!
I wish they still had Dontari Poe….
Eovaldi’s performance the other night will probably make him a very sought after FA.
Sometimes, it just takes one memorable act to land you a big contract.
Ask Aaron Rowand…
i apologize for the Trump tweet. That won’t happen here again. Now, let’s get back to doing what we do best: hate the Dodgers TOGETHER
Please admit you loved this song, Flavor…
Someone needs to Rick roll Trump.
I cannot
I’m pretty sure Lonnie Johnson dedicated this song to the Dodgers. “Another Night to Cry”. I know it would be better if he mentioned baseball, but damn man, that there is Sonny Boy Williamson doing the introduction.
This is incredible.
wow thx man. Great tune nice band too, loved the piano player.
Intro by SBW, awesome.
Where’s Rice Miller’s bowler hat? Still it’s good to see him. And Lonnie Johnson is so very smooth.
You ever hear that story Robbie Robertson tells about him and Levon Helm meeting Sonny Boy W down in Arkansas, near the end of Sonny Boy’s life? Helluva tale. Video’s on the web.
I will check that out, xoot. I’m a huge Levon fan.
That is a very powerful story. Thanks, Xoot.
I’ve been reading historian Jon Meacham’s new book “The Soul of America.”
It’s a very moving book. Lincoln asked the nation to act “according to the better angels of our nature.” He spoke to the good in people.
One of the things I most dislike about Trump is that he does the opposite. He tries to bring out the worst characteristics in people, and often succeeds in doing that.
Great book; I highly recommend it..
Zum, not defending T, but what happened in America after Lincoln didn’t have a lot to do with “the good in people.”
America has always been like this, from first settlers interactions with indigenous people already here, through those that came here or were brought here not of their own volition, from other countries too.
Stuff I read today is just “chickens coming home to roost” and people being more open about the hate they really feel.
I totally see your point, Willie; but this is a big criticism that conservatives have about liberals: that we spend the vast majority of our focus on the negative about America. And it hurts us politically. A lot of Americans feel they’re always getting hammered by liberals about things. Nothing’s ever good enough for us.
We need to fight injustice in our nation, for sure, but also find a way to celebrate all the good in the nation. There’s a healthy balance in there somewhere.
And this is where good presidential leadership can be a big help.
Don’t hold your breath.
I just finished cultural critic/historian H. Bruce Franklin’s latest book, Crash Course. (“Only the late great Howard Zinn comes close . . . .” raves one blurb.) Good read, especially if you’ve ever had a glimpse of the militaristic side of the american “soul.”
Just my take Flavor, you have ZERO reason to apologize. We’ve discussed other diverse and controversial subjects here, so I have no problem discussing this or other subjects I have interest in and/or impacts me.
Anyway, I appreciate the thread opening. Thank you!
Freese plays firstbase and bats leadoff tonight. The Dodgers never really solved their leadoff spot this season. Taylor regressed this season. He and Pederson are incredibly streaky.
Roberts is a platoon maniac, so Juice-box sits.
The Niners and Cardinals are combining to set football back about 60 years.
I could see Kershaw coming up big tonight, then blowing Game 7 out of the pen…
Huge moment for Kershaw’s legacy tonight.
Could happen, although personally, I don’t see it. Fascinating though that Price’s legacy is ascending and wont be impacted as much by this game if the Sox lose. Kershaw? If he implodes, his legacy will be trashed. If he wins, he’s a hero.
Loo,
My daughter who works for I heart radio in SF, had a I heart 80’s concert in San Jose last year, actually it was pretty good the bands were lol New kids on the block(Donnie Walberg) UB-40,Eddie Money,Starship,Night Ranger( most excellent) and believe it are not Rick Astley closed the show, and he was really good !!
When I first heard his voice on the radio back in the 80’s I thought he was black guy with a down right deep voice, until I saw him on mtv and I was stunned to see this white dude with red hair strutting his stuff on stage..
Excellent Kat. The Astley song was a huge hit, but one one of those that people are embarrassed to admit they liked. I do believe Flavor, though – I didn’t care for it either, but it’s grown on me as just a memory of a long time ago…
I never liked the song, so I don’t have any embarrassment. 🙂
There was a lot of bad music in the 80s, but a lot of great music. Rick Astley wasn’t good.
LOL Niners.
the ending in that Niner game….man. Wow.
Epically stupid ending to that Niner game, BTW. Then again, the Packers just gave their game away vs the Rams by running the kickoff outof the end zone and then fumbling on the 20.
It doesn’t do any good to talk politics with anyone. Nobody ever changes their mind. Nobody listens, they just spout off shit. And that’s both sides. I have gotten pretty good at not getting sucked into political discussions in my 3D world….
This week I’ll be mailing in my ballot, doing my little part to try to end the political career of Congressman Jeff Denham.

There was some controversy over whether he should be allowed to call himself a farmer in his ads. He rents out a piece of property farmed by somebody else.
This photo clearly shows that Denham is a farmer.
Fun couple, by the way.
lol, i love watching it all implode…
Zoom you should appreciate this
https://twitter.com/HistoryInPix/status/1055945176286457856
Cool! Thanks!
OK, nice way to start the game.
lolololololol!!!!!!! Wahoo!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the elimination game mr Kershaw
Man, I am loving this! BOOM!
there’s been a lot of handwringing around here about *what if the Dodgers finally win again* etc….For me, it’s never been an issue. Watching the lose when it counts is extremely gratifying. Not as good as if the Giants were winning one of these (again) but still quite enjoyable. Predictable and enjoyable……
Nor for me (I was actually expecting a sweep. I think you were too). Didn’t happen, but before this series started, I just didn’t think the 92 win Dodgers could hang with the Sox, who won 108.
By the by, you said something about Roberts getting his marching orders from the front office – either at the beginning of this series or during the series with the Brew Crew. I was going to question it at the time, but I didn’t know enough about Roberts, nor his relationship with players and the Front Office. Guess what? You were right, as I confirmed it today . . . an LA Times columnist said this:
“But here’s the thing for everyone calling for Roberts to be fired immediately. Roberts gets a lot of his marching orders from the front office. A lot of “Here’s what should be done in this scenario, and in this scenario …” A new manager is not going to change things that much. So please direct some of your anger to Andrew Friedman and Farhan Zaidi.
They can all share the blame for the Game 4 loss. Maybe their computers can tell them what percentage blame each person should receive.”
“Clayton Kershaw ain’t what he used to be…ain’t what he used to be…”
But exactly the same in his whole playoff career…
if Freese is going oppo the ball could be jumping tonight.
Price just blew a snot rocket, things are gonna get serious.
Devers.
Freese at leadoff works out for Roberts.
Don’t walk this guy, hit him.
A K is even better.
Bochy just would not bat Belt leadoff, no matter what.
Machado clubs the catcher in the head.
i wonder what they did with the body….
Now my buddy Rep. Jeff Denham is getting attacked on the Flap!!! 🙂
For what it is worth, he is one of the most decent people I have been around my 25 years in DC. Outside of the VP, he is probably the one Member of Congress I have known the best. We played pickup basketball with him since he first got to Congress. He is a pro-immigration Repub and can’t tell how down to earth he is. Congress and I believe IMO his district is much better off with him serving.
I know he has had an agriculture business since graduating from Cal Poly before running for Congress. And by the way, Denham is a huge Giant and Niner fan…
none of these guys are your buddies until Stix walks free! #freeStix!!!!
In my opinion, he’s a classic back-bencher; a bland mediocre party hack. A rubber-stamp vote for whatever Trump wants. He loves being a Congressman, it’s a nice lifestyle. There’s no reason he should be endlessly re-elected. The District can do better.
He gets a lot of outside money support, though.
Only Denham I know was the bad kid in “To Sir With Love”…

Juice-box did get the start. Early reports of the lineup were wrong.
The Constitution should have put in term limits. Term limits for President did eventually get added, but members of Congress having ridiculously long careers in Congress is just wrong. But it won’t get fixed. Congress isn’t going to term-limit itself.
lifetime supreme court nominations are just ridiculous….
Bochy should have a term limit…
Well it probably seemed rational back when most people died by 60
I don’t know who Jeff Denham is and I don’t really care. Zum doesn’t want him representing him, GH likes to play pickup basketball with him. Easy solution Zum votes him out of office, GH plays more BBall with him, win, win right?
Come on Boston, tack on some more runs.
🙂
Xoot, the Federal prison that Stix is at – do they allow the inmates to watch “live” television, e.g., World Series? I know they have TVs, at least in the minimum security facilities, but am uncertain about what they are allowed to watch? For example, I think they can only watch PG rated movies and below (no R rated).
I know nothing about prisons. (I’ve been very lucky.)
Now you’ve got me thinking about books and movies with prison tv scenes. Not prison but close — remember the World Series scene in One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest. Great in both the book and the movie, one of Jack Nicholson’s great moments
“Koufax kicks. He delivers. It’s up the middle! It’s a base hit! Richardson is rounding first. He’s going for second. The ball’s into deep right center. Davis cuts the ball off! Here comes the throw. He throws it to second! He slides! He’s in there! He’s safe! It’s a double.! Richardson’s on second base!
Koufax is in big fucking trouble! Big trouble, baby! All right. Tresh is the next batter. Tresh looks in. Koufax… Koufax gets a sign from Roseboro. He kicks once. He pumps. He fires. It’s a strike! Koufax’s curve ball is snapping off like a fucking firecracker! All right, here he comes with the next pitch. Tresh swings. It’s a long fly ball to deep left center! It’s going! It’s gone! Let’s hear it! One way!”
“Somebody get me a fucking wiener before I die”
Yep. Great movie – one of his best (although my favorite is probably one where he wasn’t the star, A Few Good Men).
🙂 🙂 🙂
Pearce the dodger killer, who had great reg season, is 35 yrs old…just another example that not every player over 30 will fall apart and suck.
Price is throwing harder than Opie so far.
Yeah Buck, ride a bicycle . . . Get hit by a car or die eventually of pollution.
Opie doing pretty well since first, and I haven’t seen a fastball over 91.
Yep, gotta get his pitch count up.
Well that pitch got up!
ha ha until now.
Betts really had 0 HRs or rbis up til then in Series?
Mookie!
Bye bye legacy. lqtm
lol
Gone.
Bombs away!
Roberts’ pen shuffling around now I bet.
I wasn’t really noticing Kershaw’s MPH until Willie posted about it.
90 MPH fastball on the Martinez HR.
That a boy Kershaw! lol
If Kershaw opts out of his contract, we can slot him in as our number 3 or 4. lol
Just digging all the bombs off Opie!!
Who’s never gonna be Bum!!
So Buck and company stop stroking his dick for years!!
Boston Baby!!!
Oh Rooster 🐔 paging Rooster 🐔 yeah bacik in your coop till next year lol…
WTF is ROberts doing? Why is Kershaw still in this game?
he’s literally throwing batting practice this inning, he has nothing….
he’s got a fucking Zito fastball right now, lol
It’a amazing how much Kershaw has lost off his stuff in the last year and a half or so. Right nows, he just isn’t the same pitcher he was.
there must be something wrong with Sale. He could and should finish this game if he’s able
Puig has their last hit, in 2nd? How many has Price set down in a row?
Much maligned Price has had a good series, good ps generally iirc
ah the dodger b A Rizzo says 14 in a row retired by Price.
Awesome!
45 pitches for Price in his last 5 innings
And another…
has a team ever just been so embarrassed by getting their ass kicked that they just quit before the game ended? Is there a mercy rule in the world series we don’t know about?
Bombs 💣 away!!
Wrapping it up in style!
The Price is right for “The MVP”
Remember when Rooster churned out that bullshit last week about people who don’t know baseball think it’s a wasted year if they don’t beat the Sox? I wonder how proud he is right now of this shit show. I wonder if he feels great about all they accomplished in 2018. LQTM
I’m a bit foggy on this, are the Sox playing the Buffalo Dodgers or is it the Los Angeles Bills?
On average, since 1997, the Dodgers payroll has been $92.58 million per year.
On average, since 1997, the Padres payroll has been $48.60 million per year.
In that time frame, the Dodgers and the Padres have the same number of World Series titles. It’s just that the Dodgers had to pay $879.6 million more over the 20-year span to attain the same level of success.
I’m just kidding . . . The Dodgers have had a ton of success since 1988, often being at the top of the National League and even achieving some rare feats along the way:
23 winning seasons
10 division titles (5 straight since 2013)
2 Wild Card berths (1996, 2006)
7 Rookie of the Year winners (Eric Karros, Mike Piazza, Raúl Mondesí, Hideo Nomo, Todd Hollandsworth, Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger)
4 Cy Young Awards (Eric Gagne, Clayton Kershaw x3)
1 MVP (Clayton Kershaw)
1 Pitching Triple Crown (Clayton Kershaw)
1 Manager of the Year (Dave Roberts)
.513 record in the 1990’s
.532 record in the 2000’s
.557 record in the 2010’s
23 seasons of over 3,000,000 in attendance
6 no-hitters (Fernando Valenzuela, Kevin Gross, Ramón Martínez, Hideo Nomo, Josh Beckett, Clayton Kershaw)
1 player hit 4 home runs in one game (Shawn Green)
2 players hit for the cycle (Orlando Hudson, Cody Bellinger)
5 players toss 4 strikeouts in a single inning (Darren Dreifort, Brad Penny, Zack Greinke, Kenley Jansen, Sergio Santos)
30 game hit streak (Andre Ethier)
2 immaculate innings (Todd Worrell, Kenley Jansen)
3 30-30 club seasons (Raúl Mondesí x2, Matt Kemp)
4 years of having the highest payroll (2014-2017)
Great thing they never let any of the amazing achievements and endless talent go to waste. Can’t think of a single thing that would make this list even better. Not one goddamn thing. lqtm
It’s amazing how the Red Sox were willing to eat so much of Sandoval’s and Hanley’s contracts. They’re very committed to winning.
ah that was perfectly set up. 3 breaking balls and then the high hard one at 99 right through Bellinger.
Kelly is like a hired gunslinger. He just blew the Dudgers away. The heaters to Pederson and Bellinger were NASTY. Fuck, what an arm. Why did the Cards ever let that guy go.
David Price had his Barry Zito playoff series…showed up when it was most needed as Zito did in 2012….
Well, we do agree on THAT. 🙂
