A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Death By Lefty

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on March 30, 2019

There isn’t much to say about the start to this season. Utterly predictable. The Padres are now straight up trolling us by starting someone today named “Nick Margevicius”. He’s never started above A ball but he’s left handed and it now seems teams will just roll out any left handers they have anywhere in their system to beat us.

Only 160 more of these….

All you can eat Conner Joe:

If this isn’t a joke please someone light me on fire. If we cant beat a Single A pitcher today then this team and what ownership/management rolled out this season is even more of a joke.

But maybe this is great strategy for the Pads against the Flodgers…

And I caught the top of the 9th last night, if that performance by the home plate umpire does not convince everyone it is time for a robo-ump on balls and strikes, then I am also ready to be lit on fire…

Lauer&Luchessi weren’t even on this Pads team last year, and their whole staff is supposedly the weak link with this team. But yeah does it matter anymore who faces the Giants, they all pitch like Cy Young as we’re lucky to scratch out 5-6 meaniless hits never in a row with a DP throwing to kill any chance of a big inning, sound normal?

Similar to what snarkk said, the “wilderness” was predicted a couple of seasons ago. Get used to it. This is what I’m taking from it . . . The G-Men are about 3 seasons away from having our own Tatis, Lauer, and Paddack come up from the minor league system; signing a young stud like Machado; and, being the youngest team in MLB (currently we are the oldest and the Padres are the youngest).

    Nope, I’m not sweating this.

      Yep, blade.
      No magic bullet available.
This organization was in shambles when ZMan took over. Can’t get fixed overnight.
It’s going to be a rough ride for a few years.
But hey, any fan that can remember back to the 70s, and some of the 80s years, knows the wilderness drill.
Gotta look for the occasional nugget of good baseball to get through it. Thing was, in those days the Stoneham drunken ownership and lack of revenue and bad ballpark could take the blame. Not so with the last two and next couple of years of gray. The entire organization just dropped the ball and lost focus. Hopefully, won’t be as bad and as long as 2004-2008 darkness…

The Dubs string of domination looks like it is coming to a close. They may win another trophy in June. But, the team will look a lot different next season, most likely. It will be interesting to see how Lacob handles the challenges of keeping an organization on top or near top after a historic run of championship level play. I think he will be more successful than the Giants at keeping the level of play very high. I heard on KNBR yesterday that the new Chase Center already has something like $2 billion worth of non-basketball bookings over the next several years after it opens…

I don’t know, Snarkk. The last few Warrior drafts have been underwhelming at best. Steph and Klay and Dray will be in for another 5 years, but the youngsters are not following. evans,Jones, Bell and Looney aren’t pressing anyone for playing time.

I think I may have figured out one level of Farhan’s madness. He knows ownership wants to keep Bum because of fans and attendance concerns.

So how does Farhan sow the seeds of cutting ties with Bum, having an awful team of historic proportions may force ownership to conclude they have no alternative to tear it all down…

The shooting in the UVA-Purdue game is crazy right now…but at least the Giants scored…

smith closes them out making the young Pads hitters look silly and overmatched. Pads are “legit” for 3rd place if they’re lucky. Really young team, with lot to learn. They always have top prospects, lot of whom lately haven’t cut it. this is why Kinsler is here and maybe why they overpaid for Myers (who doesn’t hit everyone else like SF) and Hosmer who no one else offered a multi year contract.

  37. willedav's avatar willedav said, on March 30, 2019 at 9:01 pm

      Talking about the Padres.

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on March 30, 2019 at 10:02 pm

Sure, but they were as bad as SF last year. Hey, they’re playing all their young guys and giving them a shot–some might be OK but their past guys haven’t much worked out. Their O was just as bad as SF last year too. Pirela Margot Asuaje all wound up sucking and they dumped the Villanueva guy at 3b, Freddy Galvis too. The Urias kid they were high on didn’t hit last year or in spring and is back in AAA.
The Tatis kid has never hit pitching above AA ball. Lot of tools, but K’d a ton at AA.
Like the Giants, Pads could just as easily finish last again, with Machado.

The Padres owe Hosmer $20 mil this year and another 3 after that. He was worse than Belt last year (!) in Belt’s worst season and makes $5 mil more than Belt does.
Myers is bargain this year but owed $22 mil for the next 3 seasons. He played 83 games last year total and hit 11 HRs for a team that lost 96 games.

  42. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on March 30, 2019 at 10:31 pm
