First One In The Bank

If you can put aside the fact that a single A non-prospect handcuffed us for 5 innings, it’s nice to revel a little in the first win of the season. Scores like 3-2 are how we did it in the old days. Sadly, we won’t be able to do this enough times to avoid last place (guaranteed).

The Padres offense isn’t very good. If the Giants had to face a team like LA or Seattle, who have 26 combined homeruns this season (we have 1), we’d be getting waxed by 5+runs a game.

But hey, put one on the board.

We’re facing another pitcher I’ve never heard of today. “Chris Paddack”. At least we get to see how the team fares against a right hander.

    It would be nice to see the fabulous Flurry freak brothers (Joe and Reed) contribute more than Ks to the box scores.

    Adam Jones (the guy Z didn’t sign) hit his 2nd HR yesterday, in losing effort for AZ. Night before AZ roughed up newly acquired Joe Kelly and eventually beat LA in 13.
    Strick to the IL (lat strain, uh right) after blowing save while giving up 3 run bomb to Red Sox and taking L Friday night. The more things change…

    Auburn’s Okeke did tear ACL, that’s too bad. Great games yesterday.

    It’s almost on cue with this team.Belt gets on should of been at 2nd on a bouncer in the dirt, doesn’t read the play good, gets thrown out and Craw K’s on cue, that’s your SF Giants in a nutshell..

    A rainy dark heavy humid Monday morning in Hanoi, as always my morning read on the Flap with a cup of joe before heading out to the university. Funny thing: I said a couple days ago I don’t really even care about wins/losses this season, just want to see *progress* and a little entertainment. I usually read the Flap comments before checking the scores on MLB; this thread, couldn’t even tell from the comments if the G’s won or lost. Maybe it doesn’t matter so much on the Flap either. I guess I’ll always know what happened at a glance as long as Zum keeps putting Clint up after a win….

    5 runs in 4 games. Awesome. Dodgers hit 8 homers on opening day. We have none. 1st contest of the year: How many games in to the 2019 season will SF be when we hit our 8th HR?

    Progress is hard to say Paul. smardz actually threw 5 shutout innings and Giants led briefly but pen and errors gave it away. they’ve hardly scored and have 1 bomb in 4 games vs. Padres, while LA has been pounding ball vs. AZ.
    Pomeranz gets first start vs. Dodgers kid prospect Urias, then bum vs. Ryu.

      Yeah, I’m not really expecting or looking for progress game by game, it’s more long term over the course of the whole season with Z’s constant forecast of flurries…. we’ll see.
