Early peek at the weather, not sure this game goes smoothly.

SF probably needs a win to stay out of the cellar.
Good day for Bum to build more trade value.

Snarkk is right, GS picking up Bogut was great move. Btw Iguodala Bogut and Looney they are better off without Cousins. Love Bogut passing and screening out of high post and Looney is suddenly knocking down midrange jumpshots.
Warriors announcer Fitz said he’s turned into Bob Love, in jest. Love and Chet Walker were bookend forwards on great Bulls teams that battled Warriors. Walker had a great auto bio about his early days in rough area Midwest city, good read. He’s also one of only 2 guys I ever saw fake Nate Thurmond off his feet.
Would the other guy be Elgin Baylor?
Giants on base woes continue, one walk vs. 11 Ks yesterday. Top 4 in the order 1-14 with one walk by Duggar, who promptly got picked off when he left first early and was thrown out at 2b. He has to be more patient at the plate, get on base and be table setter, regardless of who is behind him. 3 HRs are nice but make more contact.
Longo with nice game yesterday. Had the first hit off Corbin, ringing double that one hopped wall in CF, later had rbi single in 9th inning rally and couple nice plays at 3b. Saw a blogger complain Longo looks disinterested and doesn’t want to be here, but disagree.
The evil M was brought in with 2 guys on late game (instead of being the one taken out) and got out of inning cleanly with 2 Ks and ground out. Seems to be finally healthy and ERA is still at 0.00. He’s not gonna close but he’s not melting down and costing Giants games; just one part of successful pen so far.
That audio at the end of the thread yesterday regarding Joe West was great. Lo Duca’s a funny dude “yeah fuck you, Joe” lulz.
Interesting segment with Krukow on the drive in. In light of Bochy and Belt ejections yesterday he touched on umps and that they’re graded on every game. Unless I am mistaken, umpires work in traveling crews and are together game to game in different cities and whatnot. Short of implementing technology, MLB could easily improve ball and strike calls by having specialization within the crews. Only the top two that grade out get to call games at the plate. Maybe it creates an incentive. Who knows?
Kruk also dropped the management approved kiss of death on Posey “not sure if he’s seeing the ball. Can’t hide someone in the clean up spot”. Sounds like Posey gets dropped in the order soon.
according to Hank posey still isn’t all the way recovered, sometimes feels achy and can’t get full hip action. Posey himself said some days feels better than others with swing then loses it. fwiw Hundley is hitting .100 with A’s, not any better than Kratz. Maybe Garcia gets longer look soon.
That’s thoughtful idea on plate umps—leave that position to the best, only.
The club probably would have been better served by having Posey get a quick rehab assignment to build some confidence at the plate.
No way in hell should Posey be batting 3rd instead of Pillar.
Fun fact: the Giants currently have a better record than the Red Sox.
As does everyone but the Marlins, Zum…
The funniest page of the Mueller report is page 30. The entire page is blacked out. The whole page is just a giant black rectangle.
There are dozens and dozens of totally black redacted pages in the Russia interference volume. I haven’t looked at the obstruction volume yet. Amazingly, a word search of volume one shows no hits whatsoever for Mercer or Cambridge (with or without Analytica). In 2016 and 2017, the Mercers owned Brieitbart and controlled CA, they promoted Bannon and Flynn in the Trump campaign and White House, and they coordinated with the Russian hackers. Maybe everything about the Mercers is blacked out because of ongoing legal action. If not, wtf?
I have no recollection of how the Giants lost Bill Mueller which I just looked up.
I would’ve wrongly guessed as a FA and also didn’t know that he retired as a Dodger.
If you know who they traded him to and for what without looking it up that’s pretty good…
Traded for David Bell?
Nope, to the Cubs for Tim Worrell…
Shocking that under oath Sarah Sanders admitted that in press conferences she just made S up. Based on nothing. Then last night she goes on Hannity for rehab—it’s the dems and press fault for focusing on her self-admitted lies. It’s like saying never mind Giants are in the cellar — the fans shouldn’t expect so much…
Shocking? No. They all lie and obfuscate. The new normal. What is so fucked up is that little will change because of this report. I don’t see the republicans altering their opinion of Trump. If Turnip ever leaves office (never a sure thing at this point), The dems are going to go batshit crazy with regulations and such. Not that that’s a bad thing, but i sense an overreaction on their part.
I obfuscated 3 times this week…
I just think this is a slow moving coup. Like Trump will declare the next election invalid if he loses. Or he will win because of active participation of Russian hacking into our voting booths.
If Trump is ousted, and the Dems get the Senate back, the electoral college is going away.
a dem controlled govt needs to increase SCOTUS to 11 or 13. The current number puts too much institutional stress on one vacancy. 9 is not a magic number, not constitutionally mandated. Congress has changed the number a handful of times in history…
FDR tried to do that and failed. Hard to see it happening in this era.
Not a bad idea.
From Kevin Roth: SFG @ PIT – Bottom line is that I just think it’s too wet. It’s not the heaviest rain in the world, so maybe they play it wet, but in my eye it’s heavy enough that you can’t play through this. A late start and play is also on the table, but it’s not fully dry until around 10pm. It’s too risky for me, I’m out.
Yeah, that was his earlier Tweet, but he just said this . . .
Regardless, I agree with you – no idea how they get this game in with the hourly showing zero let up until 9PM . . .
https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/pittsburgh-pa/15219/hourly-weather-forecast/1310
Yep.
Ahmed Fareed is now broadcasting rugby. Who knew?
Fleming says earliest possible start time is 45 minutes from now…
If I heard right…
Duggar: 28K / 3BB
Should have traded Bum last week. lqtm
Ouch.
“Good day for Bum to build more trade value.” Uuuummmmmm….
Some teams need a good playoff pitcher.

hey, they haven’t been pounding him. Stupid dinky shit and what else can we really root for this year? Building trade value is the prudent thing to try to do.
I guess when you can’t score, you take stupid chances on the base paths out of desperation…
Agree. No idea what Craw was thinking???
It was like Pickett’s charge in the Battle of Gettysburg.
WTF? What makes that worse is that Melky gets the DP.
Watching Yanks, no more Kate Smith rendition of God Bless America during 7th-inning stretch, replaced by organ version, which probably sounds better anyway.
Because they discovered that she sang some racially insensitive show tunes 700 years ago or something…
it’s a stupid fucking song to keep playing. Organ music, Kate Whore or whoever, what is the point of playing that song during a fucking baseball game?
There is no point.
Completely agree.
If you want to be patriotic, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post…
There’s that, too.
sounds like Raiderland is running smoothly as usual…..
Wouldn’t be surprised if Giants lead MLB in check-swing Ks. Is that a stat?
This could contend for the dullest Giants game I’ve ever seen.
Assuming you’ve awakened from yesterday’s thriller…
You’ve missed all their previous games this season?
lulz to both of you.
Very nice play by Parra.
My bad . . . The Pirates announcers initially said that was Pillar, then Parra . . . and now, Duggar. lol
Speaking of misguided hyper-patriotism, in this song from an episode of American Dad, Stan teaches his son about Ollie North, a hero of Stan’s.
Whoa, what a collision.
I wonder if Bum would take 4/100 right now from the Giants.
With an opt out after 2…
He might. The free agent market is much dicier than it used to be.
Loo, I know you love Bum, but I don’t see anyone handing him 4/$100 million . . . Maybe Evans, if he was still here.
If deGrom needs surgery, it might really be the end of the 9 figure multi-year contract for pitchers…
I forgot the column I read (who wrote it), but Bum was being compared to an older, but better Dallas Keuchel. If I find the column I will post it.
Can’t trade Bum, he’s the team’s best hitter. ……
lulz . . . true.
Bum’s right about where CC was when the Yanks signed him in 2009…
Kuip again loudly knoshing and spitting his way through the post-game wrap.
Really annoyingly unprofessional.
I’m getting to the point of just about being done with Kruk and Kuip.
I read somewhere that Miller may be in his last season…
I’m happy with my radio only decision this year…
Trouble is, whenever I hear the radio guys for another team, they pretty much always suck, even compared to a downhill headed Kruk and Kuip…
I’ve never heard or seen an explanation of how insurance works as far as paying injured players.
Who’s paying Cueto right now? The Giants or Aetna? I don’t think the Mets are paying Cespedes right now and I’m pretty sure they were off the hook for much of David Wright’s salary in recent years…
between Degrom and sale..what a disaster signing these guys long term. Offer Bum 3 years $ 60 mil. No more. Keep the fans sort of interested. All our dead money drops off in 2021 anyway. But a whole new team:)
re: trade value, 5 clean innings after the bad one. Flems said he just couldn’t put hitters away in first after getting ahead of them and eventually the Cervellis of the world got better of him.
wotus sending Craw wasn’t good. and Loo is right, Duggar has ton of Ks, few walks though he was on base twice. Panik (at .193 now) with 0-4 3 Ks behind him didn’t help. Posey 2 hits and rbi.
giants seem to be able to turn any yard into Snoracle. Can rarely handle more than couple innings myself.
Bum walked one and K’d 7 and from what little I heard/saw wasn’t getting pounded all over the yard. Given what’s gone on around lot of teams pitching staffs, still movable if that’s the way Z wanted to play it. I give him credit for gutting out 6 innings and ignoring fact his team did zip at the plate to support him. Still think he is role model for younger guys.
Warning: if our gloating tool is gonna continue to snipe away at our team, expect some return fire.
Roooster (who actually has plenty of good stuff to contribute here) has never directly answered the question of why he annually disappears along with his beloved Bums. If he would stick around and take his medicine, then the sniping would be tolerable…
Loo– saw this insurance comment, thought of you
Interesting. I had no idea. I wonder how much insurance paid on Scutaro’s last two seasons.
guessing 75%
Thanks, Flavor. Makes me wonder about Cueto and if everyone is insured or only guys making crazy money – whatever that is considered today.
Kuip: “Panik can’t catch a break.”
Yeah, because he’s trying to hit balls through the shift. You either have to go bigger launch angle these days or use the whole field.
Ironically, for the guy that never strikes out, he got K’d 3 times last night. Regarding Kuip’s comment, he’s either a moron or being directed by management to take it easy on this team.
Bottom line? Stop the facade Bochy, Kruk, Kuiper, etc., of either stating that things will magically turn around or in the case of Bochy, continually putting Posey in the 3rd or 4th slot of the lineup or Duggar in the lead off spot. Sheesh, if any Flapper was the manager – we would be experimenting with different lineups and say, “screw hurt feelings.”
IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN 2.5 SEASONS OF SHITTY BASEBALL. Smell the coffee and wake up.
It seems like just about every MLB team has some good young talent except the Giants.
D-Rod is an exception. And Duggar has moments.
The Panama Canal was modeled after the hole in Duggar’s swing…
Wow. Better than Mitchell’s
I never quite understand why barehanded catches by pro players are considered that special. Sure, it takes talent and coordination. But, fans in the stands with beers and babies in their hands — do it …
on a dead run? While trying to avoid an oncoming wall or fellow outfielder? Nah, they’re sick.
Agree, Snarkk. I’m even more impressed by the beer cup catches in the stands.
Not easy to do…
And we lose…
Still better than the Red Sox!
does that do anything 4 ya?
Not really. It’s a fun fact that blows away like dust in the wind.
And we can’t talk much about Joey Bart for two months.
The Giants players head to the team bus after today’s game.

Being spared 4 innings of Giants baseball is almost a relief.
Sacramento Channel 31 is broadcasting the River Cats game tonight.
Andrew Suarez starting pitcher.
And Suarez promptly gives up 2 HRs in the first inning. Sometimes you just kind of have to laugh a bit.
Gerber HR.
A Jarret Parker sighting. He’s playing for the Salt Lake Bees, the Angels affiliate.
Parker raps a double, and later scores.
While my memory ain’t what it used to be, I seem to remember Parker’s first starting opportunity for the G’s was rather successful, like maybe a couple of hits, an OF assist, some nice plays. That made me hopeful for the guy. In the end of course, Dirt was right… “Parker (who sucks)….” … 🙂
He had a game against the A’s where he hit 2 or 3 HRs. He had some moments, but only moments.
Zach Green HR.
441 feet.
Henry Ramos HR.
Mac the Oaf RBI double.
Bring ’em up! ……………. Wonder if either of the baby Giants teams in Sacto or San Jose could beat the parent club….
It’s fun to watch actual hitting.
Chuck this was probably your wheelhouse, eh?
https://twitter.com/1970sNFL/status/1119799985674047488
He actually came from the Saints. He was about all they had early on…
Looks like he buckled his chinstrap as a 49er.
Unless I’m mixing him up with someone he always played with it hanging down…
I was wrong. The guy who played with the unbuckled chin strap was the outstanding Eagle WR Ben Hawkins as you can see about 4:00 in…
Think he just passed away, someone here was a big Hardman fan, right? Getting punched in the dick here by his own teammate, bummer play all the way around for good ol’ Kilmer.
https://twitter.com/1970sNFL/status/1119800907380789249
Loo other guy I saw who shot faked Nate Thurmond off his feet was Connie Hawkins.
Damn, I shoulda got that!
Suarez leaves the game in the 6th; he pulled something in one of his legs.
As mentioned earlier, it probably would be more fun to watch River Cats game than SF Giants current edition. Like to see comcast in Bay Area make one of either Sacto or San Jose games available.
Aramis Garcia HR.
I don’t know who the play by play guy is. He’s doing all right. Bill Lasky is doing a good job as analyst.
Henry Ramos another HR.
449 feet.
Mac the Oaf HR.
Sac wins 9-6.
Bochy’s gotta go. It’s overdue. Farewell tour my left nut. It doesn’t diminish his accomplishments. This is how baseball has always been. He should step aside since they’ll never fire him…
Agreed. Shoulda happened a couple years ago. The AllStar break could be the perfect time, why drag it out all year…
He’s not going to retire mid-season and leave millions on the table.
Augh!
His managing has gotten pretty lazy. The other day leaving the lefty in to face Arenado a third time, with 2 runners on, was just giving the game away. Arenado 3-run jack and the game was over.
