Winning
This long road trip heads to Toronto. But first we have a day off to suckle from the sweet teat of victory. Tastes nice, right?
Buster did more than just take down his second 1.0 of the year. He showed us he’s still a man. A man who can hit the ball over the fence. Sure it took 10 months to get ‘er done but he did it and that’s what counts.
Now, back to my teat….
One day after all the bombs were hit in Sac that Zum was talking about, Beede threw 5 shutout innings. He’s given up 4 earned runs in 17+ innings so far.
Whither Mac? he’s hitting .341 and on a recent tear. At some point, would it hurt to bring him up and see if he’s at least more watchable than the LH Parra?
It’s kinda funny in a bad way, but outside of Pillar (who is still looking up at Mendoza line) I can’t think of any position player Z brought in that has done anything of note, including Solarte.
Duggar scored a run and contributed to the game ending relay with Panik (who sucks)? No corresponding fwar? Maybe its been mentioned but shouldn’t defense be factored in somehow? Feels like this metric needs refining or at least some clarity.
Here’s the raw formula: Bomb>sb>base hit>defensive play
Too complicated. Hard to follow
Parra probably isnt around after mid summer. What are they paying him, 1 mill or so? Have to eat what’s left of that, but that’s nothing. Can they move the Pen mounds before bringing back the Oaf?…
Panik is danger of never getting a big contract in his baseball career. An eventual big contract used to seem like a sure thing for him.
Big contract? Panik (who sucks) has made close to $9M in his career thus far – I’m not feeling too bad for him. Without significant improvement at the plate in the next 6 months he’ll be lucky to be on an MLB roster next year imo.
Individually, Ray-Ray had a much better Giant career…
Buster says yes.
Back in the late 80s I got to see a double bill of the Four Tops and Fats Domino while cruising down the Mississippi on the riverboat President. I got to see some great shows on that boat, I was bummed when they moved it out of New Orleans.
Now that sounds like a cool boat ride.
It was a lot of fun, Mac. Saw some pretty amazing shows over the years on it. This show was back when Fats could still belly bounce his piano across the stage, while playing it. Great stuff.
Closest I got to that was Chuck Berry with Little Richard at the Circle Star. Great show.
Just read a great piece by baseball prospectus outlining how the ball has changed (smoother so less drag). HR’s up huge again vs last year. Among other tidbits..The International league adopted MLB balls for the 1st time and HRs up over 50%. Thats crazy.
