A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Taking Care of Business

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 19, 2019

When the Blazer fans started over-celebrating Meyers Leonard 3’s, that’s when I started getting pissed off. Up till that point I was pretty composed, just happy to be in Portland with my main man Chris, enjoying the #saladday. So I got a little loud. And the knowing dude head nods were snapping up and down at a crisp rate on the way out of the Moda Center.

Giants won, I hit the pick 4 at the Preakness, Dubs rolled….days don’t get much better than that.

Awesome Flav, tremendous game/great photo. It’s raining really hard here in south bay right now…probably wasn’t a good day to be running Bay to Breakers for anyone.

Altherr DFA’d with hope he doesn’t get picked up, and heads to Sac. Not sure that’s going to happen. Zman already has made more moves in 6 months that Sabes did in a decade? I love all the moves. It’s more fun than watching / listening to the games…

Last night was fun, Giants started to hit and score some. Posey has BA up to .260 Panik to .250. Belt has OPS up to .846, .350/.496.
Belt has hit 5 of 7 bombs and 7 of 10 doubles on road. Hope he can stay healthy and keep this up.
Revolving door is OK, let’s see if Vogt and Austin can keep hitting. Otherwise the door has mostly been shown pretty quickly to everyone else because they haven’t hit.
Giants today get Corbin and then will see AZ in rematch back in SF next weekend.

Iggy’s MRI on calf pain came back negative.
The dude is awesome on D, but always seems one play away from some kind of mystery injury.
He’ll probably not play next game as precaution. Would be good if Dubs could sweep, but Dubs can afford to lose the next one.
Usually you don’t want too long a layoff before next round of post season, but Dubs seem like they could use more time off for KD and even Boogie to maybe be ready for next round. Hopefully Toronto takes at least one from the Bucks…

I think the finals schedule is set no matter what.

Looks like we got the don’t-need-to-worry-about-winning-this-series lineup going today.

Sharks laying their typical crucial game in a series at home egg…I have a Blazers fan friend and not that he was talking trash but even to suggest Blazers would win a game was laughable. So hysterical watching the Blazers play absolutely no defense. How did they get past the Nuggets???

  10. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on May 19, 2019 at 1:48 pm

Nice to wrap it up in 4, but it’s ok if they give them a crumb, and the Dubs wrap it up at home for the fans..
Portland sucks anyway you look at it,Lillard has to work so hard (GS thinking going in make him frustrated)and nobody else can step up to make plays..

Blazers scored 33 points entire second half. 13 point 3rdQ, at home? Their vaunted backcourt is getting their asses handed to them.

Too bad he’s the best story so far, and there isn’t a better team around him…

I’d start the auction right now, heading into June, for Will Smith.
Don’t wait for that arm to go squirrelly. For a shut down closer, get a top OF prospect and a single A pitcher. Get in ahead of people going after Kimbrel after the draft…

Smith with the manly save there striking out the side

Last 2 save opportunities for Smith,6 up 6 down 6 K’s yeah doesn’t get any better than that!!

  34. willedav's avatar willedav said, on May 19, 2019 at 5:20 pm

2 out of 3 from AZ. According to B/R they were 2nd in league for runs scored BA, first in slugging and 3rd OPS.
and got 3 hits all day off Giants pitching.
mm trade anyone else in pen including watson but Smith stays. I understand the narrative but he’s unlikely to bring back anyone with immediate benefit to the club. and without him they become that much more unwatchable.
btw there is column today in F/G on giants prospects. Other than Bart and couple pitchers, doesn’t appear to be high level ML prospects imminent. I’m hoping the Miller kid proves them wrong.

  35. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on May 19, 2019 at 7:59 pm

I’ll say one thing. I didn’t think we’d be only 4.5 out of the WC race come the end of May. Without that horrible start, we’d be around .500 and a couple out. Which pisses me off because of Connor Joe and Reed. Parra as well. A left-handed guy when Jones was available?

Guess I should get over it, but if we started out with say A Jones instead of Joe, would that have won us a couple games? Sure.

    • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on May 20, 2019 at 5:34 am

      I agree with ya Unca.
At this point last year we were 1 game under .500, right now we’re 5 games below .500. A couple of decent OFers at the start of the season and this team might have been looking like AZ does right now in the standings.
