All In On Dick
I can’t be a hypocrite. I can’t like Yaz who is turning 29 in August and not at least give Dick!Dick!Dick! a chance. So I’m on board and happy to be there. That guy has infused some much needed energy into this last place season….
Beede, however, continues to be terrible. 25 walks in 32 innings is a man sans control. I’d like to see someone else get a chance.
That was a pretty decent team win last night…Boch now needs jus 41 wins for 2000 and if they go 45-42 for the remainder then he will retire at .500 as a Giant manager…likely with the first but unlikely with the latter…
You just won’t let the 2000 wins thing go. I admire the passion.
If he just wins 40 he can…
I know it has to be Boch’s mind…would like him to go out not necessarily on a high note but at least a career achievement.
Beede has shown lot of promise last few starts. Nibbles way too much trying to be Greg Maddux, but not near level of hard contact allowed by Smrdz or few others lately. And last night D around him sucked.
I agree. We need to keep sending those sweet black shoes out there every 5 days and see if he can continue to improve.
Giants did good job of picking up after Beede too, fine group effort Gott the W Smith the save.. They’ve scored 24 runs last 3 games too, with some bombs…good to see.
LA is steamrolling the division. They are on pace for 110 wins, and playing almost .800 ball (33-9) at home.
Our 2 dogs deserve a combo POTD for their Yaz/Yes collaboration last night…
Using the nibbling as a comparison to Maddux is silly. Maddux did that because he was intentionally hitting those spots. Beede has no command. He sucks. He can take his black shoes back to Sacramento or whatever B movie set his lady is on right now
Willie McCovey and Frank Robinson not worth mentioning during annual Yankee OTD role call of the dead.
Disrespectful, scumbag organization.
Hope the Dodgers sweep them in the WS.
Yes I do!
Much more important to have a moment of silence for some retired groundskeeper’s 126 year old dead mother-in-law…
I hate nibblers and at times Beede was really hard to watch last night, unable to put guys away after he got 2 strikes on them. But that hate for trying to be too fine extended to Rueter and Vogs, 2 guys who had lot of success for Giants I didn’t care for. That’s all it is to me– he is trying to be perfect. He has out pitches to get hitters out at ML level.
Giants have won each of last 3 Beede starts, not bad for a team 10 games under .500. And unlike dang near anyone else he whupped ass on LA, including 3 guys who tortured us, Bellinger Kike and Taylor.
Like Mars B said, “It’s gotta be the shoes.”
solid retort.
Needed only 11 pitches to get the 1st 2 batters out then had to throw 23 more to get the 3rd out, that’s the frustrating part of a young pitcher mostly getting out of the first unscathed.D like mentioned by Willie didn’t help him get out the inning by butchering the double steal by Posey’s lousy throw that would of kept it to 2 runs instead of 3. I like overall what I’m seeing out of Beede, just keep feeding him starts, and find a replacement for Pomegranate, they should go back to Rodriguez, are give this hotshot Mendez a look after a few more starts at AAA..
In his post game Boch said Dick’s been a real shot in the arm and helps relax the guys who’ve been struggling. Sounds like they’re going to keep rolling him out there and keep riding Dick until he doesn’t produce.
Just wondering why this team always need a shot in the arm from a new player coming in?The other 8 just can’t play consience ball anymore? It’s kinda like when Pagan use to be out of the LU and their was no spark anymore..
Because they are stale as month old bread…
Performance anxiety?
1. Joe Panik (L) 2B
2. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
3. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
4. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
5. Stephen Vogt (L) C
6. Kevin Pillar (R) CF
7. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
8. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
9. Shaun Anderson (R) P
The Dick machine is actually older then Lil Yaz by 3 months as we hopefully roll out these 29 year olds the rest of the year.Gotta root hard now for Yaz man,he’s born on my birthday Aug 23 that’s great karma…
6 1/2 back in the WC.
Here is something I had no idea about going into yday…Rockies are a wild card team…had no clue…
Yankees getting smoked (6-0) by the Astros. Bum would sure help in this game.
Make that 8-0 Astros on a grandslam and another 2 run massive bomb!
Agree with Loo, Yanks should of never disrespected Willie McCovey&Frank Robinson in their OTG!Bad Karma..
Make that 9-0 on another bomb!Screw the Yanks!
How about that Alvarez kid? I was watching that, he has 7 bombs in 12 games unreal. Dodgers gave him away too for reliever Josh Fields ha.
After what they did today as explained up above, my hatred for them has boiled over, They were my 2nd favorite team for the 30 years spanning the careers of 2 of my favorite players, Roy White & Don Mattingly.
Once D2X hung ’em up, I had no feeling for them and couldn’t stand Jeter. Now, I would even root against Bum who I pray winds up elsewhere…
Nice grab by Pillar. He’s 9-23 on road trip with bomb the other night, scored 8 runs in 6 games. Been a good spark himself.
Belt is on a 1-21 streak, with a few walks and some Ks. This is another guy that could use a change of scenery.
Hopefully someplace far…
yes. He’s hit most of his HRs on the road, but this road trip, with chance to produce, has been awful.
He is lifeless.
A uniformed corpse…
Gold!!
And he promptly drills a double…
He has avmoment a here and there, but by and large he’s zero fun to watch.
A buddy works for Chase so we were right behind Giants dugout for last night. best seats I’ve ever sat in. On tv a bunch of times, as the wife recorded the game after she turned it on just in time to see me standing / cheering for Dick’s double. between innings i yelled bochy’s name. Nothing. On the 3rd time he looked over. I gave him a thumbs up and said Thank you! He smiled and gave me a quick salute. Kinda cool.
wow very cool. How many fans they getting there?
FWAR BOMB!
Another bomb! gets Anderson off hook too.
Beede and Anderson look promising. Anderson more, with less stuff, and a stronger mental constitution at the moment. Beede’s issue is he can’t spot his fastball. KNBR the other day said he had a 20% strike call rate on his fastballs. That sucks. He’s got an above average hook, a developing change. So, key to his success or failure is getting the fastball under control…
How much does that involve the pitching coach?
He’s had control issues since going pro. Not sure pitching coaches can be blamed at this late point, IMO certainly not Young or Herges, they haven’t had him much. BTW, where is Righetti? Wasn’t he supposedly kicked upstairs as a valued “special assistant” or something? Maybe he should “specially assist”, but I doubt he is even in the building anymore…
I mean, the Mets just hired some 82 year old senile grandpa so I’m guessing the pitching coach doesn’t make too much of a difference.
Giants have reportedly offered pitching coach position to this man:
Boy, that was some luckyass stuff right there for the Giants. Those couple of plays look like how THEY might usually not score from 3rd with 0 outs. Anyway, after that kind of escape, you’ve got to take advantage and win the game…
Pads, who gave up 3 runs in bottom of 9th to Pirates to tie game up, score 3 in11th and then give up 4 to lose it 11-10. Walk off walk with sacks loaded. clutch hit by Melk in rally.
Pads have lost 2 less games than Giants all year and if SF beats AZ, same for them too.
Nice job by Moronta who should generate plenty of TD interest…
It’s like Belt’s power has turned into warning track power.
I think the beard makes him look older and slower…
Melancon. Like a root canal…
without Novacaine…
By Dr. Mengela.
Pads Pitt game..Lame ass umpire. Bases loaded 3-2 pitch right down the middle and top of strike zone. MLB guys groaning at the lame no call. bad way to end a fantastic game
SOOO frustrating that we walk so many.
Melonbust.
Shocking, he had nada…
Great shot of Wilson. I really dislike how it looks like our guys are so accepting of losing. When was the last time it looked like any of these guys were pissed of??
Dodgers, 3 games in a row won by a walk off HR, by 3 different rookies. If the Dodgers can’t win the World Series this year, that’s actually pretty funny.
The Dodgers have completely cracked the code on how to win in the regular season during the juice-ball era. Everything they’re teaching their hitters is working. The playoffs can be different, I get it; but they’ve got the regular season completely figured out.
Our hope is Zaidi can bring that to the Giants.
Nobody was happier when we signed Melancon. Now I can’t stand to see him. I keep thinking that he is going to turn it around. I’m through thinking that. NO MORE big bucks for a reliever. They can be good for 1-2-3 years and then get hurt and never come back. If we can’t dump him we should send him to the minors to work on his control. 2020 a new year and if same DFA him.
What did we sign Dyson or Smith for? I’m sure for a faction of Melancon. Shades of Benito S.
OSF
Melonbust is what he is.
They have to factor into the “Plan” that he’s untradeable, or close to it, so that $ is sunk, gone. Off season, they should trade him for a bag o’ balls, eat 90% of his last year $, or just cut him. One of the worst signings in the Sabes era. He was crap from the get go, the very first save attempt in reg season vs. Dbacks in Phoenix. We’ll never know, but I think he was damaged goods, and he knew it. But, the SF medicos waived him thru. Very frustrating that $62 million wasted on a guy who couldn’t pitch essentially the first two seasons, now can’t be trusted in a leverage situation. He’s suitable for mop up 7th inning duty when whether he gets anybody out is meaningless; anytime else is a crapshoot, at best…
On this day of Juice-ball:
Alonso breaks the Mets’ SEASON record for HRs by a rookie.
The Yankees set a franchise record by homering in 26 straight games.
Dodgers break the record they set yesterday for walk-off HRs in a row by different rookies.
i missed the game, was in the city all day entertaining Katie and her friends. I’m assuming our guys at least had some *good at bats* eh?
A very winnable game. Lil Yaz and the Dick weren’t big factors today.
The AB that sticks with me is Belt flying out to the warning track. It’s puzzling. HR power is fizzling away from him.
Of course it’s likely not sustainable, but let’s just imagine for a moment that Yaz and Dick at age 29 have not peaked yet and could piece together a few good years. Yaz seems to have some tools, although he looks a little scrawny, might need some muscling up. Legally, of course. Dick, who knows. Giants are not just going to clean house and suddenly field a team of all 24 year olds, so *if* Yaz/Dick at 29 are fillers for a few years for the rebuild while younger players are gradually added to replace the oldsters, it’s at least some progress from relying on early to mid-30s cast away veterans…
look what happened to our *diamond in last year’s rough*—-D-Rod. We were so excited to find this guy nobody wanted. Well, there’s often a reason nobody wants you. In baseball, in life, everywhere. These longshots come in now and again, I guess. It happened more often back in the day before scouting and analytics really reved up. It’s hard to sneak a diamond in the rough past anyone anymore.
Yes, that’s why I was just imagining for a moment… “Imagine there’s no Longo…. it isn’t hard to do….”…
Pom Pom tomorrow. He’s never gonna go away is he
this Micky Calloway stuff—not sure if I’ve seen a guy trying to get fired as much as this guy.
When Bochy doesn’t start Dickerson in the LU, will the Giants then be “Dickless”?…
Double lulz
Andres Torres is pretty bad as a studio commentator.
