Today I Woke Up Sad
because of this……

I stared at this trying to figure out why one game got canceled and all the rest were postponed. I spent more time wondering about this than I should have. Anyone know why?

mm June seems to be talking point, depending on how long of make up ST is deemed necessary. Also might be adjustment upward of roster limit for a time tbd. Players seem open to at least one DH a week. Wonder though if those are the dreaded day night separate admission ones. A June start could mean 100 games and prorated service time obviously bigger issue for players.
Im going to try and be optimistic and say begin an expected spring training schedule my mid-April and first games May 1. Have the season start in warm weather places for the first couple of weeks. 154 games possible?
Too optimistic, GH. One positive test and everyone goes back home…
Awesome shirt man very impressive
Loo’s right. What people seem to not understand is that even if Trump opens up the country around Easter, (which isn’t going to happen), most companies are not going to immediately send their employees back to work because our President felt it was a beautiful day to do so.
I would be shocked if baseball starts back up before June 1st and that’s being overly optimistic.
Be more awesome if it was a 49er shirt! Just kidding Loo. 50 years is long enough misery for any team are fan to have to go through..
I am Mr. Optimistic
Agree Loo,
Way too many players, coaches, reporters hanging around for this virus to still latch on too.
Did like the idea ( sure the players might not)of getting as many games in with a lot of doubleheader’s being 7 inning games especially on weekend games..
I too got hung up on canceled vs. postponed. First thing I noticed.
Update: Evelyn said she definitely feels better today. Not sure about her roommate.
Good to hear that Pawlie,Stay Safe, Stay in, hydrate, for her and everyone as much as possible…
that’s good I think in lot of cases medication remedies of today more powerful and successful than say years ago. Hope roommate has appropriate medical attention and recovers as well.
Trump is still an imbecilic threat to humanity, a dangerous cretin. Why couldn’t he and his family get it?
Trump’s like Teflon even Coronavirus doesn’t stick to him..
Teflon Don Part 2?
Nothing is going to stop him Pawlie….and his approval number are tied with his best numbers…
East coasters, saw story on yahoo re: small town residents of Catskills and Long Island raising havoc about NYC residents leaving city for vacation/second homes. Particular concerns being potential spread of virus and impact on shopping/hospitals in more isolated towns.
Doom news story or fact based?
Btw saw similar things said about Jersey shore and NC Outer Banks, tourist/escapees not welcome.
Yeah, it’s definitely true about the ritzy Hamptons way out on Long Island…
Same thing in the UK for Londoners heading to their rural second homes…
The OBX closed the beaches to visitors awhile back, last week I think (my time lines are a bit fucked up these days). Non primary resident home owners were banned more recently. Apparently, many of their priority passes were being given out for rental homes. So now they check IDs at the checkpoints, but only the driver, so some rental agencies have sent out vans to pick up visitors to bring them in.
BTW, the reason for the ban here is because we have a year round residency, for all of Date county, at something like 50,000 people. So our one hospital is pretty limited to the point where even in the winter many patients with something major are transported out of here. Our summer population can grow to 500,000, so if folks with two weeks of “vacation” decided to spend it here in those numbers, residents and visitors would both be majorly fucked.
Have seen similar stories about islands in Maine and places like Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard. Go home! say the locals. Who could blame them? The “intruders” ‘ retort is: this is our home, too; we pay taxes, blah blah. Go home.
No doubt Pawlie. I’m sure the us versus them attitude is everywhere and for various reasons. I’ve also seen the back and forth comments that you mention in our local rag. Given our limited resources though, I am glad they are trying to keep visitors out.
If what they are talking about concerning a second wave of the virus in early fall is true, then I doubt we see any baseball this year. That goes for football also.
I think the MLB season will likely be cancelled. I think the NBA season is over, too. Next up is whether there will be a 2020 NFL season. Maybe.
The NBA may try to cobble together a playoff tournament somehow. Maybe have all the teams stay in South Dakota or something. To me, it seems like what’s the point, at that point?
At what point does a very shortened season become an illegitimate championship in its own right?
The U.S. will soon become the nation with the most reported cases of coronavirus. Who knows if China is accurately reporting anymore. Russia has reported one death. Does anyone really believe that number?
Correction- Russia has reported three deaths. Still pretty questionable.
The U.S. passed a milestone of sorts. Over 1,000 deaths now.
Looking good Mr. loo.
Love the shot of Loo! Looking good my man (even if you are rocking that Chef’s gear).
Awesome pic, Loo. NY is getting nailed, but they are also getting tested. What is unreal is there are states that JUST yesterday enacted stay-in-place directives.
And Trump a while ago gave all the power for dealing with the virus to the state and local governments so don’t expect to see anything happen in the next 6 weeks.
He can lick all the doorknobs he wants, but NY, WA, and CA are remaining in SIP for the next 6 weeks at least.
What is an unexpected plus in all this is the air quality is amazing. If everybody just worked from home anyway, shit would be like this all the time. Gonna drive up to Grizzly peak later today.
I am sure Illinois is in that group, too. The governors of these states will tell trump to piss up a rope in relation to opening things up, too soon.
Chuck we dont have stay in place orders at all in Virginia. And Maryland and DC dont either.
But only non-essential services are operating but still purchased a used car for son, Home Depot, Walmart yday and planning on flying home next week…MSNBC reported this morning that 96% of the NY deaths were for those with pre-existing conditions. We just need a nice heat wave. Where the f is global warming???
I did hear that 96% of infected people are only experiencing “mild” symptoms…
I heard last night, this on NBC’s national newscast, that 15% of cases require hospitalization.
Well, if the predictions are true that this thing will peak in NY in three weeks, hopefully we can flatten this thing out sooner rather than later. I am optimistic that there will be a baseball season…albeit a shortened-one.
One thing that I think we (the United States) must be cautious about, is that we don’t lower our guard too soon. There have been numerous stories of how Hong Kong took a relaxed stance when numbers started to flatten-out, and they experiences a second spike.
But, overall, I am always an optimist, and remain so, even in these trying times.
Take care of yourselves and your families, Flappers. Be safe and stay healthy.
Almost time to head out and terrorize the neighborhood a little…
looking forward to the update. What else do we have to do today? My daughter texts me late at night telling me what to get on my 6am trips to safeway. Today’s text was just: “try to find sugar”. Goddamn right I brought home the sugar. Some bacon, too.
Magg’s checkin’ in
I don’t buy that, Flavor.
It’s just so much quieter now that you’re more aware of it.
I used to live on one of the busiest streets in Brooklyn (Ocean Parkway), a few blocks from Coney Island Hospital. The ambulances were constant. After awhile you don’t even notice…
she’s probably listening for it, too. Good take from you, thanks
Gotta be a full service Flapper at this time!
“MSNBC reported this morning that 96% of the NY deaths were for those with pre-existing conditions”
Not sure what to make of this comment. I haven’t heard that number anywhere. I’ll look for it.
Regardless, there are people with pre-existing conditions all over the U.S., of all ages. The healthier people in the U.S. have an obligation not to spread the virus to them, or to the elderly.
I’m not a fan of the theory of some of the GOP of “kill grandma to save the economy.”
There have also been reported cases of people who had NO preexisting conditions, who have been hospitalized, and require a ventilator. Some of these folks are NOT elderly, either.
If Katie makes another batch of snickerdoodle cookies I don’t think I can handle it. My body is snickerdoodle’d to the brim.
We’re all going to look like Big Ben in that video he posted a few days ago. He looked like he hadn’t eaten a vegetable or seen a razor in an eternity.
It’s an abomination that airline travel is still going on. It seems like every case of Corona that I have heard of from a personal standpoint (friend of a coworker or friend of a friend) is somehow connected to airline travel.
That’s one of my biggest questions about sports returning in 2020. All the issues regarding airplanes, airports, and hotels.
So much time in confined spaces together, plus interactions with various support workers.
no different than having 26 guys in a locker room though, is it? Teams fly charters too so limited contact with others. IF things get sorted out (and I’m more optimistic on flattening out of certain areas) I think it’s possible seasons start in ST sites and maybe without fans on a test run. AZ so far has been pretty safe.
Fun fact:
The number of confirmed cases in the country (at the moment) is almost exactly equivalent to the capacity of Candlestick Park…
And….the number is now 74,000, so you gotta pick a different stadium.
Giants TV station is showing the Sanchez no-hitter tonight, at 8 PM Pacific Time.
Time to trot out the old reliable trivia question:
Do you remember the first name of Sanchez’ dad who was attending his first ML game that night?
🙂
I’m going with his first name being Mister.
Goddamn I knew this one. It’s not Guiseppe but it’s something like that.
Guillermo
Still pissed I was just a few days away from my hip replacement surgery when all this craziness went down and I turned into a non essential person with no elective surgery option!!
Shit I could of been home recovering with a new hip in place, instead of quarantined without it in more pain!!! And WTF can athletes get they’re TJ surgery’s in( they’re out for the season anyway if they’re is one)ahead of regular people scheduled months before???
yeah feel bad for you Kat. My next door neighbor who is older than I am and long retired is in same boat and had her hip surgery pushed back a month. She has other health problems so she only can take Tylenol for pain.
The way it was presented per Beede is surgery was done in Texas where less restriction plus it was done in private clinic that has zero to do with virus. Mention was made too that in his case it does affect salary and future earnings longer he would be out. So I think Mrs. deB would be fully supportive hubby gets at least his UCL fixed ASAP.
Flav I saw where school closure around here is extended in May. Already seen some posts from parents about how tough teacher’s jobs (all day with kids) are and how underpaid they are for what they do.
I know HS kids who play baseball or softball and they are shutdown too right how. Gonna be a scramble for HS seniors trying to play at next level.
Our b-ball youth group had to cancel awards banquet that would have had over 100 in gym this Saturday. the one thing I would have stressed to all our guys was to get your buddies together and go outside (off your phones and video games) and just play. As a kid that’s we did, unorganized and random. Or 4 or more of us would meet somewhere and just play.
Which ain’t gonna happen now!
They’re supposedly gonna start taking down dozens of public BB hoops here because kids are ignoring the distancing advisory.
There’s definitely a NY Knicks joke in there somewhere…
MLB Network is replaying a Giants game today! At 3 PM Pacific Time.
The Network is showing various retro opening day games all day.
This one is Giants vs. D-Backs, 2017. Mad Bum hit one or two HRs that day. The Giants lost that game, though. Melancon choked his first save chance as a Giant.
Melancon set the tone for his Giants era.
I remember that game. That was the season in a nutshell right there.
I walked to the Solvay post office about a mile away, just to get out and to mail Evelyn the framed photo of her and Tony Danza. More on that in a sec. Lovely spring day. On the way, on impulse I stopped at Eva’s Polish Kitchen and ordered two takeout golubkis. Yummy. The post office had yellow tape on the floor to mark off physical distancing. (WHO says that’s the preferred term; rightly so.) One clerk; one other customer. I kept forgetting the yellow tape on the floor instructing me to step back from the counter. I quickly rectified that. (A clerk at the main Syracuse postal facility has tested positive.) Left. Walking to the post office, and back, I swerved widely out of proximity of the few other pedestrians I encountered. Picked up the golubkis. Went home. Ate. Daughter just called. She said she is definitely better, tho’ her voice started weakening and crackling from the tonsils so we kept it short. First time I have heard her voice in quite a few days, her throat has been so sore. Roommate Michael, on something like day 9 of the projected 14, is also somewhat better. Neither of them got tested. No tests were available. This is America. She is certain Michael has it because his symptoms have tracked as others have. And there is no other way she could have gotten strep except by his proximity. Oh well. Excelsior. That’s New York State’s motto.
Two weeks since i stopped riding BART, and 2 weeks since my wife flew back from Hawaii, with a possibly infected flight attendant. Getting no word from the goddamn airline which flights she worked, but their statement said they are ‘concerned about the well-being of the crew that worked with her and have contacted them.’
Nothing about the fucking passengers. No symptoms though, so I think we are good.
that is good no symptoms; but she herself could be an unknowing carrier, right?
One of us would have it.
My daughter was at famous Elaine’s (2001??; has since closed; when I took my daughter there for her 11th birthday I met and talked to Pete Hamill; his book A Drinking Life is excellent; lots and lots of Brooklyn, Loo) with another ballet dancer and my daughter’s aunt, a former sister-in-law, a NYC resident. The two ballet dancers were under age for drinking; under 21. Somehow they met Tony Danza there and more or less went bar-hopping with him; Danza and the three ladies. He had a driver. My mother was always thrilled with the story. She prized that photo of my daughter with Danza. I’m still going through Mom’s things. I found the picture and sent it to Coronavirusland.
Coronavirusland Lol 😂 Pawlie!!
I’m thinking of making a batch up of quarantini’s shaken not stirred since I’m in IDM ( intensive drinking mode)🍸🍸🤪
Hold me closer, Tony Danza . . .
Taking down hoops is wrong. What they’re gonna grow back like when you get your hair cut?
There’s a small K-6 religious school at end of my block with hoops up. Sun’s out I should go over there.
Somewhere I have vids of Steve Nash solo drills–take 3 dribbles from under basket using correct hand per your direction pivot turn face hoop shoot. Make 3 in a row move to different spot use whole floor. On a miss you have to finish a layup. Take x amount of shots plus FTs.
I don’t know. In New York State clusters of people congregating in public parks, including at public basketball courts, has been a signifiant issue of exposure and spreading.
here too Pawlie. Now some parks announcing strict closures after exactly what you mentioned happened over weekend–parents shut inside all week decide it’s time to go outside for hike yada yada.
Loo’s trivia
I think his old man’s name was Sigfredo are something close to that??
Yes! I bet that’s it. Now I remember I guessed something similar, Segundo or something, the last time so my guess of Guiseppe was horrible. I’m getting worse at answering this particular trivia question and that’s unacceptable!

Something I will never forget from In the Time of Coronavirus: signs in windows, on doors. My thing is to take a walk. I have self-quarantined. A walk is a big deal. I’m 71. I don’t have a mask and wouldn’t wear one for a walk. Signs at the elementary school, library, bank, beauty shop, post office, barbershop, restaurant, gas station, dollar store, thrift shop, restaurant, shoe repair, real estate, car repair, restaurant, bar.
should have said: signs announcing closing. I did not tally how many times “inconvenience” was misspelled.
A laundromat I walked by for decades had a big sign in the window that said: SLEF-SEVICE.
Drove me nuts…
Regarding the virus, it’s just a question of how seriously we take it as a nation. South Korea took it incredibly seriously, and flattened the curve. Italy took kind of a halfway attitude toward it, and we see the consequences.
Last week Trump declared himself a “war president,” and then a week later he’s basically surrendering.
(Although if New York City was in a “red state” he would care a lot more about what’s happening there.)
Right. Italians have a slang term — I wish I remembered it — that means, get around the system, sneak by, get by, do it your way, ignore the bureacracy. Early in their lockdown, the prime minister, Conte is the name, I believe, implored Italians not to resort to that tried and true practice. It took a while to sink in. I do understand it. It’s a natural impulse. I’m writing a book about my trip to Tuscany in November. You cannot help but notice how social Italians are. I was going to go back for a month in March or April. Maybe. Loved it so much. I came away thinking how much more civilized they are because of their social norms. They’re taking it seriously now. The dead are burying the dead.
Yeah, unfortunately Italians’ affectionate culture is a worst-case scenario for the spread of a virus.
Pretty bummed on opening day being cancelled. Good thing about the shelter in place has been playing catch an hour or more a day with my youngest. We’re working on pop ups this week.
A friend recommended Tiger King on Netflix. The trailer is….let’s just say it looks like some weird shit.
I thought it was ok, it was definitely better than The Platform, do not watch that. Without giving anything away, Joe convinces 2 dudes to be married to him at the same time….and neither of them are gay. So I’ll let you chew on that for a bit and if you’re still interested, sure, go for it. Not a waste of time at all.
It’s fairly short and sweet so there’s that.
so open-minded of you
Mighta been me. We are watching it. What a crazy-ass dude. Chi-Chuck, he’s in your old neck of the woods. Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Have you been there?
The world of privately owned big cats/zoos is a freak show of the highest order.
Willie, I’m afraid you are wildly optimistic. Until they come up with a vaccine this is going to be close to new normal. Social distancing is the ONLY method currently available to prevent it. You may be OK with skipping games but hope to see it on TV sometime this year. What will happen when a player (shortstop or left tackle) gets it? Next man up? I don ‘t think so. Most/all team members will be quarantined and locker room disinfected. How to schedule a season around events like that. Won’t happen. Trump can go on TV, tell the world to go back to work, and the blue states will tell him to go to hell. The red states may comply (like Florida)and wind up like Florida is heading to in South Beach. This thing may cool in the summer, BUT likely will come back in the Fall. That’s what Dr. Fouchi said on NPR today.
About half the posts on the Flap today mentioned hopes or pessimism about the season and the virus’ effect. Congratulations!! I follow a TB Bucs blog and those clowns act like they never heard that the NCAA’s were cancelled, the Olympics delayed a year, the NBA closed, etc. and can hardly wait until Tom Brady throws passes in September. Delusional.
I lived next to Clearwater for 25 years. It’s a beautiful, beautiful state, but lord are there a bunch of stupid people there. Not all but a bunch.
Stay careful and safe, Flappers.
OSF
Brady’s #1 concern is the health of his wife and children. Football comes in at a distant second place.
Right around this time, Belt would’ve been slouching back to the dugout after taking a called strike 3 vs. Opie. Man, I never thought I’d miss that so much.
So true.
Great play by play, Mac.
I have to admit, the idea of no sports the rest of the year, is beyond depressing. I honestly am having a hard time comprehending that thought but sadly its a distinct possibility.
OSF said it very well. What a logistical nightmare.
“What will happen when a player (shortstop or left tackle) gets it? Next man up? I don ‘t think so. Most/all team members will be quarantined and locker room disinfected. How to schedule a season around events like that. Won’t happen.”
OSF brings up a very good point. One guy gets it, the whole teams gets quarantined. I hadn’t thought of that.
It really is a great point and not once have I heard that mentioned anywhere else.
That is the exact reason the NBA did what it did when Gobert tested positive. And, frankly, why the Bay Area got ahead of this pretty well.
I’m flat amazed there are states that haven’t put out SIP orders yet. What is the bet that they are red states?
Like I said, 2.5 weeks ago on Tuesday the 10th, Bart was a little less crowded. By Thursday the 12th Bart was 3/4 empty. Thursday morning rush hour commute. The Bay Area ordered their SIP on Monday the 16th.
If the SIP order came down now instead of 2 weeks ago, there’d be 50x cases in CA now. Not that anyone can get tested here.
Yes, by the Bay Area jumping on SIP weeks ago, we have a seen a relatively low rate of infection. I work at a hospital in Oakland and it’s been pretty slow around here. Since the SIP was announced, we’ve canceled all non-urgent appointments and have really aggressively discharged inpatients that didn’t have to be here. It’s slowly starting to pick up though, and we’re expecting a surge of patients within the next week or so. It’s a very nervous time because there’s so much we don’t know. We received a briefing from one of the ER doctors last week and it was bone chilling. This virus transmits very efficiently and people walk around contagious for at least a few days but sometimes weeks before they show symptoms. The vast majority of people do recover, but when people get bad they go downhill quickly and there isn’t much that can be done for them when they get like that. Dead within days. Thank you so much for all of you Flappers who are observing physical distancing. We appreciate it more than you know.
LOFL
So let me get this right, if they’re is 6ft social distancing and hypothetically they let the baseball season start, if they’re is 24 seats per aisle wouldn’t that come out to 6 fans per row?
WHO says ‘physical distancing’ is the proper term. Makes more sense. How about sociophysical distancing? Naw. I’ve been socially distancing people for years, by thought, word, and deed.
Yeah I have 2ex wives I do a good job of distancing myself from…
Don’t ban me for typing this: I’m not sure I’ll sports at all. Certainly fine with it right now. Totally.
*miss
Oh btw is this a east coast thing, I’ve never heard of a goulbkis Pawlie mentioned?I feel pretty ignorant right now!
stuffed cabbage, or cabbage rolls, holubkis in Ukrainian. a Polish thing. Spelling varies. I have two ex wifes too, we’re all on good terms
Anybody know how to check in on Paul In Asia?
Loo, you have a passport? Flights are cheap.
you couldn’t get me into an airport, much less an airplane, for under $100,000.
One great thing about this shit. It’s got the Flap hummin’ like the old days. Twin would be on fire right now if he was still around.
Made me laugh. he certainly would. Wonder what he would have thought about Trump?
OSF
Steph Curry chatted with Dr. Anthony Fauci on Instagram. It’s going — wait for it — viral.
this is very interesting to watch and a great example of how easy it is to pass this shit everywhere nearly immediately.
If you had to bet 10 grand at even money on MLB completely canceling the season which way would you go?
Helpful hint: Francesa thinks there will be a season…
My money’s on no baseball after my post about USA taking the lead on Coronavirus Contamination!
I would bet no baseball this season.
Wonder if Stix might get an early release under these circumstances…
Stix might get an early release from life in general, man. I’m guessing this shit starts eating up the prisons soon…..
Before I heard OSF’s theory I was sure there’d be a season starting this Summer. Now, I’m not so sure. I wouldn’t bet.
Now what I WILL be betting on is this insane card that Gulfstream’s put together this Saturday. Wowza!
Publish your selections!
ok, I will! I’m only playing races 9-14 for what that’s worth
United States 🇺🇸 just passed China 🇨🇳 and Italy 🇮🇹 for the most positive Coronavirus people infected with over 82,400, China at 81,700,and Italy with 80,000 plus.
As of today, the Giants are tied for 1st.
And last…
Lol.
Curly Neal died. That’s bums me out. When we were kids me and my friends used to always joke around we were him, dribbling like a fool at the top of someone’s driveway, laughing as soon as the ball inevitably bounced away.
Same here. Loved the Globetrotters.
Surprised me that he was only 77.
Figured him to be pushing 90…
Scroll up above the Sports Center video for a great post by Sarge…
Thanks Loo
Great job by you, Sarge. and wish you the best out on the front lines.
I didn’t want your words to get lost in the shuffle up above…
checking in on how everyone is spending their time at home these days…..
It will be especially tough for Dodger fans. Kershaw and Jansen get another year older. Turner is pretty old, too.
Plus who knows how players across MLB will do in 2021 after losing an entire season. This would be unprecedented. In ‘94 they at least got to play half a season. I guess some comparisons could be drawn to players who got drafted and served in the military in the past.
The powers that be might plan a season but I doubt it gets off the ground. Course all that’s out the window once a vaccine is found, Then pretty much business as usual. I think just about every country has got their people working on it right now. whoever gets there first is gonna end up very wealthy
I would vote yes this season happens, mid June/July would be my best guess. I think like Unc said earlier there are encouraging signs where proactive things have been done especially under Newsom’s guidance here in Californa. Once test kits become more available you have the advantage of being able to isolate the vulnerable and better treat those who have “it.” the fact that the NBA did isolate and even those who did test positive have recovered are both good signs to me.
so is fact that Korea is perhaps a month away from starting its baseball season. I think our scientists and doctors are looking for ways to shape the outbreak. and hopefully for all of us, to succeed.
I wonder if Twin knew Newsom from his days in wine restaurant and catering business; don’t remember Twin’s timeline for that. Newsom was fortunate enough to be under wing of Gordon Getty and got rolling in Napa Valley ’90s. Seems like type of guy Twin would be disdainful of…though he felt that way about lot of us and others who have come and gone from old splash days, lol.
Lol. TF has some pretty choice words for me every once in a while. I used to love the splash, that was fun for me.

Hard to imagine baseball in NY after watching the first few minutes of Tucker Carlson…
138 posts and counting. It’s like all of our biological baseball clocks knew it was Opening Day.
The “malevolent imbecile” live on Hannity soon.
I can’t help but respect a great nickname…
re Loo’s 3:41
F/G had column from yesterday how confident are you about this season, bunch of poll questions
fwiw games yes or no was yes 72% no 28%
how many games played 2nd most voted answer was “0” 20%
as for when games start “never” was third most voted 20%
sfsarge,
sincere gratitude for your (and your compatriots’) heroic, courageous, and invaluable service. Doctors are revising their wills. In some places, they are hoarding (wrong word) medicines so they can be healthy enough to treat others. People around the world stand on balconies and clap in gratitude for people like you (you all must’ve seen them singing arias in Italy?), as do we here at The Flap. Listen to the sound of it echo.
Eloquently stated PK. Thank you so much.
As a contingency, a local hospital is preparing, or preparing to prepare, hospital beds at Manley Field House, where SU hoops played before the Carrier Dome (new roof going up) was built. NYS is mandating that hospitals be ready to double capacity. Stunning challenge. I have a friend who is a respiratory therapist (out with the old-fashioned flu), and she said the hospital where she works has been eerily quiet and calm.
Twinfan would be sharing epicurean-delight recipes — and calling The Imbecile in Chief a fuckwad.
I can’t remember if anyone mentioned this. Jimmy Wynn, the Toy Cannon, passed away today.
What???
That’s horrendous!
Everyone loved the Toy Cannon…
his arm, right?
oh shoot that’s too bad what a cool player
@wilcoe didn’t know this–Troy Tulowitzki and Huston Street are both on UT baseball coaching staff. 14-3 until games cancelled
Damm, I was a huge Jimmy “ToyCannon”Wynn fan!
Especially when he wore the Colt 45 jersey, one of the bad ass jerseys of alltime!
RIP Jimmy Wynn, one hella of a great player!
I think his nickname was for having HR pop for a relatively small outfielder.
A drone filmed a quiet and deserted-looking San Francisco.
Jesusgod. Chilling but majestic. Science fiction has been superseded by reality.
Yes.
I read the novel Earth Abides many years ago. A virus wipes out most of humanity.
Written by George Stewart who also wrote a very good book about the Donner Party.
I’ve heard some people mention Stephen King’s The Stand, but I never read that.
Roger McGuinn and Marty Stuart. Dylan’s You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere. https://youtu.be/0VwmyItsU-4
That’s great; thanks! I dig all those folks.
Mays story on giant channel right now.
Bad news from Gulfstream, Flavor:
Javier Castellano tested positive…
Wow, Zummie, I’m encouraged by that and for us on the west coast. The only way to slow it until we get a vaccine/treatment/etc. is to stay away. I’m blown away that my “Queen City”, San Francisco is doing its best.
OSF
Just talking to myself here…
One of my favorite horses was named Queen City Lad.
He won the Nassau County Handicap in 1975.
The following race was Foolish Pleasure vs. Ruffian…
