Another day, another netflix series. I got through 5/10 of Ozarks Season 3 yesterday. So far very good and I am expecting the last 5 to go straight over the top. I’m also watching the final season of Breaking Bad again just because it was awesome and I want to feel like I’m really doing something in a day—focusing on just one show seems like setting the bar pretty low….

Also, GP today. After today I wonder if this won’t be the end of horse racing for a while…….

It’s really a great betting card, Flavor.
The kind of card where I can tap out (old school term) before the big races.
I sense you have much more self-control than me…

Yeah my fav bet is the pick 4 and that has been pretty much ruined with the presence of zulu alpha. some players look at that like it’s a single I look at that as a pass because that horse has turned it into a pick 3. I will be betting very little until the 8th or 9th race. I have $5 to show in the 3 here in the first race just for fun.

If you’re up to it, Flavor can you post…

    1) Likeliest Winner
    2) Best Bet
    3) Longshot Special

Loo do you know why GP never starts a race on time? It’s like they aren’t even trying to come close to post time

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on March 28, 2020 at 8:55 am

      Really don’t know. Incompetence?
The days of long betting lines and getting shut out are over…

it seems to be particularly terrible at GP. I’ve noticed it for a couple of years.

Fun pic in Chron (and I think San Jose Merc) March 26 1974 Rick Barry scores 64 in W over Portland.
30-45 from floor (no 3s in those days) 10 boards 9 assists 5 steals. Trying to find box on this one…
3 days earlier Downtown Fred Brown (very cool player) came into Oakland and got 58 as Sonics edged Warriors 139-137.

End of season sometimes saw guys go off. One year there was duel for league scoring title btw Iceman and David Thompson, and Thompson got 70 in final game to beat him out iirc.

Best game I believe Timmeh ever pitched!
Even better then his no hitters!
Had the Braves eating out of his hands with just 2 hits no walks and 14 dominating strikeouts!!

I went to a grocery store today that was surprisingly pretty well stocked. Although no paper towels, no liquid hand soap, and no hand sanitizer. We’re pretty well stocked on those anyway.
The store had lots of toilet paper. Only I package (12 rolls) per customer, but people were grinning at their good fortune.

My buddy lived in Indonesia for a while back in the 90s. No TP there, they just use their hands then easy it off. So in that sense he’s ahead of the game a little should things get desperate. My internet is down so I’m on my pH this afternoon, apparently

The wife and I went into town for supplies and to let the dogs run a bit. Get home, crack open a beer and my emergency pager goes off. Motorcycle accident on the highway, 3 bikes down. We get to the scene and I start to ask the most injured guy some questions, he just starts rattling off, I’m not nauseated, I don’t think I have any internal bleeding, the only place I’m bleeding is a road rash on my hand etc. He said his only problem was his leg was broken. EMTs arrived and sure enough his leg was broken, in 3 places, including a compound fracture. This fucker calmly listed an assessment of what possible injuries he could have had. We had to Medvedev the dude out and 2 1/2 hours later I’ve pounded down a warm beer and am now drinking a very strong cocktail while being completely in awe of someone in shock.

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on March 28, 2020 at 1:32 pm

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on March 28, 2020 at 1:37 pm

      what is an emergency pager?

      • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on March 28, 2020 at 3:19 pm

It looks like a pager but it is a 911 page/voice caller for emergency personal. You can have it set to hear all of the County 911 calls or just your own emergency response area. I keep mine set for station 19, which is my VFD. I also have a cad alert text on my phone.

Some of the ancient Romans used a small piece of sponge on the end of a stick instead of the toilet paper that hadn’t been invented yet. The sponge was then rinsed out to be reused.

cool player. they’re talking about how Kike Hernandez owns Bum with 6 doubles 4 HRs and .500 BA in 40 plus ABs.

  34. willedav's avatar willedav said, on March 28, 2020 at 7:13 pm

Couple curious moves by Bochy that last inning tho. Hernandez doubles but is stranded there with 2 outs and Bellinger up, followed by Russell Martin. they pitch to Bellinger instead of walking him. He whacks a line drive that Belt has to dive for on one hop almost on OF grass but Bum is late covering batter safe Hernandez running on pitch scores 1-1.

Then he lets bum hit for himself leading off the inning despite fact Ryu had retired 14 guys in a row. Bum strikes out on 3-4 pitches and leaves dugout as Moronta goes down to pen to warm up all again. Didn’t want to waste a PH?

  35. willedav's avatar willedav said, on March 28, 2020 at 7:18 pm

Seemed like that was time you pitch around Bellinger and deal with Martin and instead they went right at him and he burned them. bum wound up throwing 29 pitches that inning.

3 hits for Duggar who scored the game winning run. anything like that ever happen again? Tyler Austin hit second after Duggar and smoked a long double first time up. don’t think he did too much after May 1 either.
