James said odds of scoring go down but how much though? I haven’t seen this approach used very often, so I wonder why not if analytics are high on it. Adding extra baserunner seems odd–a hit puts another runner in scoring position.
They only need one run to win. The runner at first doesn’t matter in the circumstance the Rockies were in.

Can’t lose a game like this. I know Story made an incredible play but still, can’t lose that game. In some ways this is good. If they want to make this sham post season they’re going to have to beat a good team 3/4. I highly doubt they do that. But I’d rather have them fail on a regional station than a national one……
Milwaukee lost 4-2 to te Cards, so we still have the 8th seed.

There is a lot to look at here, but the key to this loss IMO was in the 2nd inning when they couldn’t get more than one run with bases loaded and one out. Ya got to hang a crooked number there.
3/4 would almost guarantee getting in, but I think they could get in At 2/2. Brewers play five more against the Cards, and Cincy closes woth three against Cleveland. Philly closes with Tampa Bay. So all of those teams chasing us are playing good teams.
I mean it could happen. And monkeys might fly outta my butt.
