Get Past SD For A Spot

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 25, 2020

Well, here we are. The final regular series of 2020. It certainly doesn’t feel like it should be ending so quickly but that’s what a 60 game season will do to you. We might get in if we win 2 games, we will likely get in if we win 3. San Diego’s motivation level is low so we might have a chance. Either way, if they do get in I’ll feel better about their walk of shame spot because they will have at least beaten a top team to get in……

Rockies did get some hits off Gausman amid all the Ks plus that 15 pitch AB cut him off at 6 innings. So with pen blowing lead and the game, Kapler had to use 7 guys the day before 14 innings of a DH. Not good.

Pads have 2 good SPs going today. Watched some of A’s-Dodgers series and A’s were using normal SPs and most of their regulars, as was LA even though neither has much to play for.

The game with Lamet is going to be low scoring . . . at least (likely) on the Giants side. Dude is a stud. He’s been holding batters to a .166 batting average all season, with 89 Ks in 65.1 innings pitched. About 10 days ago, he went against Kershaw and the Dodgers and K’d 11 of them . . . only run scored by the Bums being a groundout fielder’s choice.

Giants pitching needs to keep the score low to have a chance. That’s the key in my opinion. Anderson might be up to the task. He kept the A’s in check last outing.

I’ll be surprised if he pitches past the 5th. SD in “getting everyone ready for post season” mode

      • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on September 25, 2020 at 8:49 am

Of course. None of these MLB wimps pitch past 6 and he averages 5.91 innings (65.1 divided by 11 games). This isn’t 10 years ago, much less 20-30 years ago.

You can bet SD would love nothing more than to knock us out of any chance for the playoffs. This is gonna be the biggest test of the year for us. SD ain’t gonna lay down.

we’ll see. I could see their manager resting guys, I don’t think SD has anything to play for do they?

Giants haven’t even listed they’re 2 starters today that’s scary.
Though 1 might be even scarier if it turns out to be the Shark who hasn’t pitched since Aug 7th, please god no!
Pads starting Lament&Paddack in the twin bill yikes 😳
Agree with Blade..Lament is downright filthy and could even win the Cy Young Award for sure, though I’m leaning towards Trevor Bauer..

I think we just need to split the DH today. San Diego will certainly have nothing to play for over the weekend (it is not Flodger level rivalry for either us or Pads)….they are not going to over-tax Clevinger.

  11. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:55 am

If Giants are fortunate enough to have playoff games, Gausman would be in line to start first one. If not then yesterday was it.
MLBTR story referencing Hank says he’d love to stay and mentions Posey as reason he came here in first place. So what do you think Giants would have to do to keep him, and for how long should a deal be? 3/40 was idea I saw in comments from bloggers. Reasonable, or not based on his 2 months here?

He and Hank have lineup with Yaz leading off, usual suspects plus Wilmet at DH Tyler Anderson SP in first game.
He hasn’t hit much but Heine did get down nice bunt in ill fated 11th and threw out a runner for caught stealing.

And, unless SD has some real tired players i think they will go for the momentum and bring their best.

Stix you missed four years of this bullshit while you were in the clink. I’ve been saying for years we need to start hitting bombs to catch up with everyone. Some flappers kept yapping about walks and OPS. bombs are the way to win games consistently now.

You mean me? All I said is it doesn’t make one fucking bit of difference how a team compiles a good OPS, the number of runs you score will be basically the same. It’s very hard to compile a good team OPS without hitting for power … and drawing a fair number of walks. It is not all that uncommon for a team to hit a lot of HRs and have a shitty team OPS, and a mediocre offense.
