Finish
Ok, so what has to happen today? We need to win and the Brewers need to lose. Our old pal St. Louis needs to step up and beat a pretty beatable team. Both games go off at roughly the same time.
Also, the Niners facing The Giants.
Lots of Giants action today.
wow powerful stuff at end of last thread. Flav best of luck to you daughter and grandfather. Sometimes routine such as putting up a thread each day for all of us mixed in with distractions (fantasy ball, sports in general) help us all maintain level of sanity, and hope for better times, for all of us.
gotta admit it was little odd to hear K n K talk so glowingly of Shark, even if it was more about his personality than anything else. Don’t think they once mentioned any great outing of his. I wonder if there was any feeling by mgmt he might be a distraction on playoff roster if he wasn’t going to get any more starts/relegated to sitting in stands with pen guys.
Flav: Looks like you are going through the trials of Job. You surely have a lot of support on this thread. And thanks again, for making it happen. Peace, brother.
Can anybody handle a potentially positive note? We all sure need one. Perhaps you will agree with me that we have an excellent candidate for the NL’s “comeback of the year” player. None other than the very core of the Bore Core: BB9. That man has turned an apparent decline at a not. particularly decrepit age into a season for the books, He has suddenly transformed himself into one of the most reliable–and clutch–Giants hitters. We were all on the verge of giving up on him and….breakout.
Friar Tuckers have Adrian Morejon on the mound today vs Smyly. SD looks for their guy to be their long-man in the post-season. Smyly has a rather lower ERA than his opponent. Drew is on the cusp for Free Agency, I seem to recall. He should be pretty well motivated. My guesstimate is that he will be good for six IP and my hope is that Kapler channels his inner Bochy when he chooses his relievers today.
Shark must of gotten the news just after he finished pitching the other night,Cause when they interviewed him in the clubhouse he was thanking the fans organization, yada yada.It wasn’t a admission, but u could sense it was over in his voice.I get it makes sense so they can use his spot for another arm (Rico Garcia) but it has to be rough on Shark too not to finishing out the year with his teammates for the last 5 years..
With all the uncertainty in NL for playoff seeding, I read that STL could still be out (and Giants in) depending on them having to play (and lose both games) Monday DH vs. Tigers. Has this been established, that they have to play or is it dependent on what happens today?
Wiledav. From MLB site…3-way tie for final two spots (.500)
How it happens: Brewers beat Cardinals; Giants win
Who gets in: Brewers; second team TBD
In this scenario, the Phillies are out regardless of their result Sunday. The other three teams are tied with .500 records, but with the complication of the Cardinals having played two fewer games.
The Brewers clinch a spot in this case, due to having the intradivision record tiebreaker over the Giants (20-20 over 19-21). That leaves St. Louis and San Francisco. With a playoff spot hanging in the balance, the Cardinals would need to play Detroit on Monday, giving them two shots to win one game for a clinch. A 30th Cards victory would do the job, as they also have an intradivision tiebreaker over the Giants, with 21 wins in the bank against the NL Central entering Sunday. Only if St. Louis lost twice to Detroit would San Francisco get the final spot.
St louis has powerful incentive to win. A lose and giant win means DH Monday, then playoffs as 8th seed traveling to LA..vs a win and a day or 2 of rest, no travel, a home 3 game series. Go Birds!
What another pisser last night turned out to be…
Magnus, just saw last night’s posts about your travails. Those are choices that would weigh on me, no matter which direction I made. My son, his wife, and my 9yo grandson live about a mile away, but I rarely see them. They are much more pandemic-careful than I am (and I am observant and compliant). Ironically, I saw them all — for the first time in months! — yesterday at my ex-wife’s (mother of Ethan and Evelyn), but outside, the occasion being Ev in town from Brooklyn for a few weeks. (Ex-ballet dancer, now a senior in college; English major, like me.) We have a family Zoom biweekly. I’m so grateful we escaped all this with my mom dying at 102 in 2018. It would’ve been agonizing to wave at her at a window in her nursing home, her wondering why. We were spared that. You mentioned gratitude. For me, that is always the key, to literally everything. I hear friends say, “I’m going through a lot right now.” And I say — not callously or heartlessly — who isn’t? Everybody is. And everbody isn’t. If I lie in bed in the morning and hear pouring rain, I might say, ‘Shit, we were going to go walking today. That blows that.’ Or I can say, ‘Rain on the roof is the most beautiful sound on earth.’ The rain doesn’t care either way. Or, as Jefferson Airplane said, ‘The human name doesn’t mean shit to a tree.’
I tell myself I’ve adjusted to quarantine measures. Early on, I walked more, ate better. Living alone, I had practice. Was I delusional to say that?
Now it is fraying.
The longing for human touch. The collected fabric of humans threaded together. I wrote FAILURE TO THRIVE about this. What happens to humans during such an isolated time? https://amzn.to/2MyzMTQ
We’re finding out.
Peace.
Gratitude.
Last night’s affair was more boring than ’70s porn. So I gave up on it. Gave up on the game, that is.
lol
I’m still pissed off about Coonrod not admitting that his shoulder was toast and not telling Kapler. Then holds out his admission after he gets lit up was a weak ass excuse! I hope he’s not with the team next year, he’s just to much of a head case.Take your sorry ass to another organization!
W.T.F?
1st quarter and 2 more leg injuries on the field of horrors. Reed looks out with an ankle injury and Giant safety Kabrill Peppers is out with an ankle injury.
Kaden Smith, Stanford TE?
same guy left year early too.
NYG doing good job of shutting down Niners running game.
after loss going right, 2 nice runs left and a score.
Listening to The Cranberries’ greatest hits on YouTube. In another life on another planet, I’d be married to Dolores O’Riordan. And we’d stay married.
I’m going to enter a Micro Fiction contest today. Don’t ask me what that means. 400-word limit. I’ll cobble and finesse shit from my blog. I want to win money. But since I don’t have the pedigree of an MFA from Stanford or Syracuse, I’m dogmeat. Well, chew on me.
Tiny words? Small fonts?
I never thought of it that way
What contest?
Watch any replay and guys twist their ankles on every play. Mckinnon did on the TD, and Warner just did on the int.
Shanahan play calling starting to carve them up. Good to see Aiyuk the Sun Devil guy getting involved.
how come they don’t use that Tromp guy, the catcher, more?
Injured shoulder. He is out.
As Niners game came back after 4th commercial they played few bars of Bobby blue Bland’s “Ain’t No Love” in the heart of the City. That’s from a beautiful LP, Dreamer, bunch of good songs including “I Wouldn’t Treat a Dog” (the way you treated me).
He recorded the song that’s been stuck in my head this weekend: Two Steps from the Blues.
Still have the LP.
Cards threatening in 3rd…
St Looie 2 up on the Brewers in the 3rd.
cards doing there part! Go Giants!!!
Longo first to reach 10 DPs this year.
4-0 Cards
4-0 Red birds.
Crazy stuff going on in your world, Flav. I know how much you love your daughter. It has to be incredibly tough.
Wishing all the best for you, Katy, and her grandpa. Blessings to you all brother.
Go Cards! And can someone have the Giant’s offense report for duty, immediately…
Longo coming into today 3/29 and 4/36. Sept 1 the OPS was .833. By now it’s dropped over 100 points, 60 of that for reduced slugging.
I remain skeptical, especially about rest of BC, as to what would happen to all the gaudy offensive numbers over course of longer season.
tatis removed for pinch runner. Good
yeah to his credit Pads mgr. has done that all last few days. Gave them couple ABs and then yanked Tatis Machado and Myers. Smyly pitched out of jam, still 2-1.
Yes!
Smyly battled through that inning; great job.
Smily almost done. We have to score some freaking runs now!!!
Good enough job by Slymy…
Brews get one back – 4-1 mid 4th…
Bloop and a blast coming. 1st Bart homer in just a minute!
Giants offense, wake up!

5-1 Cards…
Sigh. For a season that had such low expectations this is really going to suck if losing the last 3 at home keeps us out of the playoffs:(
Tine to pull your head out of your asses El
Gigantes!!!
SD catcher hurt. Coming out. Other catcher is Nola so SD losses DH the rest of the game. So no DH, Nomachado,No Tatis. We have to win a game SD doesn’t care about!!
Yaz looks dialed in…
Pads basically waving the white flag on this game. To not win would be one of the great failures of the last 5 years, at least.
Why they are pitching to belt a mystery
FUCK
Belt. Fucking worthless.
This is sad. Game is being gift wrapped and Giants are impotent.
That was listless. Lustless. Lost. Innings are winding down, boys.
FUCKING SHIT Longoria.
Jesus. What a pathetic effort. Need to win 1 of 3 and can’t do it.
Sorry to hear about all that going on in your life, Craig. Tough even without COVID. Strange days. And there doesn’t appear to be an end in sight.
Unreal. So mad sad frustrated. We are done.
Also watching Seahawks-Cowboys, Seattle WR Metcalf was about to score a 60+-yard TD but was careless with the ball and had it knocked out Leon Lett style right before the goal line for a touchback.
Yeah that was so stupid of Metcalf. These players that showboat deserved to get burned!!
Secure the ball first numbnuts.. Credit to the DB for sticking with the play to keep it tied..
Good night. Slymy picked a bad day to suck.
He was good enough, Chuck…
Agreed, this isn’t onSmyly he had 10 goddamn K’s lol
This looks grim.
The Padres didn’t get the memo that they weren’t supposed to care about these 4 games.
? They pulled tatis and Machado, they started a pitcher I’ve never heard of. This game was GIFT WRAPPED for the Giants and they have come up ant-small
This one may not be as painful of a past blown playoff chances but if we go down without a fight will suck and may be a fair assessment of the this team and their heart or lack thereof…saw last night’s Flav posts. Hope everyone pulls through and fingers crossed on a vaccine sooner than later. Ill take it before my kids.
This is a limp dick exit…
So if St Louis wins the Giants back in right at #8??
No
Well, for a moment. I see what you’re saying.
The Giants have to win.
Nein…have to win….
If Brewers lose we would have clinched if we had just won the back end of the double header or last night.
Well in that case Fuck the Giants and especially Coonrod u prick!!!
Fuck this. Weak-ass close to a surprising year. Pffffffffffffffffft.
We really have to draft pitchers with our first couple of picks.
No doubt and sign Trevor Bauer….
This team performed better than expected, but is talent short.
Need pitching help for next year. Keep developing minors’ talent, though I don’t know how, if the minors aren’t even going to be up and running…
No guarantee the minors will happen next year either.
Of course Myers has to have his stamp on the game.
Bullpen sucks again. maybe Smiley should have stayed in despit pitch count in the last game of the year? I am googling a few diff box scores. None list pitch counts. How many did he have with his 10 k’s and 1 walk?
98
Chuck Smiley gave up 2 runs and struck out 10. Not on him..
Giants responding about as well as Ted Kennedy at Chappaquiddick…
this post was political in nature and removed by BIG FLAVOR
I was actually looking forward to getting one of those deletions at some point.
I want to to make it easier but can’t give up yet. NOW is time for 1st bart homer? maybe i just called it 1 AB early??
OMG I just realized Solano not in the game. WTF???
Ive been switching around not really paying attention.
Hey! Signs of life!!!!!
Oh ho! Life!
Chip away, motherfuckers!
Maybe some hope?
YES!!!
Back in this!!! Take back everything I have said about you Crawford.
Bart time!!
