The Grave Duggar and Posey continue to lead the team in hitting but that W doesn’t happen without The Sock Man. I’m really not sure what I would have done had we blown that game and it came within inches of The Sock Man failing. But he didn’t and we go on to win.
Baseball is a funny game.
For the collective psyche of the team last night’s win was critical. Team win.

Struggling to remember being happier to see the shocked Dodgers faces in their dugout. That was epic matey!
Blanco’s catch for Cains perfecto has to be up there, but last night was pretty amazing (extra points for the Dodgers reactions)..
Jansen surely wasn’t ready and that catch surely was in his head as every Dodger in that dugout. Maybe it was a message, a foreshadowing of fate that the Giants just might be around in October.

Yes, great team win. Didn’t see DeSclafani, only heard Miller talk about him struggling on radio before he was lifted–Dodgers have his number again?. Still, lot of guys got picked up with W and others made contributions. Garcia with save is hard to figure.
Kapler did say something funny playing down rivalry, about playing hard vs. everyone after lead blown in 9th. Only guys left here going back to 3/5 are Crawford Posey and Wotus, with Belt out.

Yeah, that play could/should have been made. Anyone else notice Dubon was using one of Crawford’s gloves? Anb how come there was no throw to first for the double play on the ball to Wade? Was Rogers late getting there?

That would have been an absolute killer game to lose. I don’t hold any illusions that we are going to compete for the playoffs long term this year—thus I had no problem with Buster being held out the night before. If the plan is that he doesn’t catch 3 days in a row, then I am down with sticking with that no matter what—at least until later in the season if we are still competing—which we won’t be.
But, it is important to me that the Dodgers don’t absolutely dominate us and we beat them from time to time. The talent gap between us and them is still massive though.
Also want to say I officially like Kap and am glad he is our guy. I agree guys play for him, I have no big issues with his strategy, I like his temperament, and I think he is an interesting guy to listen to who actually gives thoughtful, honest answers to questions most managers just respond to with nonsense.

Another ill conceived Fox 4:15 (left coast) start. Last Saturday shadows really tough on hitters.
I went to bed after the Giants went up 8-5, I didn’t want to go to bed pissed and up thinking about the game if the Bums had won it in the bottom of the 10th. I think the Giants are still doing a good job of mixing vets with rookies playing. The pen is still the weak link.
I went to bed at 5-2, stayed off the net, then picked the game back up this morning. I couldn’t believe the homer by Barnes. I still need to go back and look at the posts from that stretch. To take a punch like that, rob that homer, and then put up another 3 spot was impressive as hell. Huge win.
So where do you stand on the grave Duggar these days?

It was in extra innings then Moises Alou hit a game winning walkoff in the bottom of the inning.
Sometimes plays like that and Tauchman’s fire up the team so much they’re destined to win..
Kap’s plan is to give the old guys a dayoff atleast every 3rd game are so.Expect them to play 140 games though of course be available to PH are late game replacement. It’s a good strategy overall.
Side note..Buster has hit 7 of his 10 HR’s after a dayoff só it seems to be working..
Longoria too seems to do well after a dayoff as well as he came in late after not starting and added a bonus double to seal the deal after Wade’s game winning hit.For a guy who’s only played 1st in the minors some, he was spectacular last night,making all the plays and gunning out Taylor at the plate , just a heads up play..
I was so pissed after the 9th inning that I just turned it off. This just might be the spark the whole team needed.
The Diver made the catch of the year so far last night, saving the game for the Gyros, and not wasting the 3 run Posey jack, which if done the night before, would have won that game. With one win, at least the pressure is off and maybe they can take one of the next two, with some luck. The Pen looks like a problem through the year. Rogers at some point will be overworked. And, he’s not a closer. He pitches to too much contact for that role, so errors can be made (Dubon), guys get on with seeing eye hits, etc. You need a guy who makes guys miss as a closer. McGee is a one trick pony, he’s not a reliable closer. Is there anybody in Sac that is on the cusp for the Pen? Or, is Pen help only coming from the trade front?…
We do need a fireballer closer. The league will eventually catch up to Rodgers 82mph fastball I don’t care where the delivery point is.

For the Giants to hang in there, the starting pitching has to maintain and the bullpen needs to improve. The Bore Core needs to continue its surprising renaissance. Role players need to continue making contributions.
It’s a tall order, but maybe, just maybe, with some good fortune, it can happen.
