Though it’s been murmured a bit here at the Flap lately, it’s become obvious that if we want to win the division we just need to win-out. Maybe we get lucky and lose one or two but LA isn’t slowing down.
It’s a joke that two 100+ win teams have to fight tooth and nail to avoid the dreaded play-in game. That should be reserved for the mediocre teams who are looking up wistfully at the power houses of the league.
MLB really needs to change the post season format. Either re-seed after the wild card games OR just do what the NBA does and have 2 conferences.
LA is 14 games up on the wild card teams below. But because maybe they *only* win 104 and SF wins 105 they have to burn a stud pitcher in a play-in game and pray nothing crazy happens?

Giants scored 3 off Gray in Coors 2 weeks ago. He had shut them out for 5 but Craw nailed him for 3 run bomb in 6th to tie game and SF scored 4 in 9th off pen guy Estevez to win it.
Giants will see RHPs rest of weekend, so GD and Dickerson, as Loo suggested end of thread, should get a start or two. Both have good hist here. Belt HR was crushed, with immediate bat drop.
Wade is chasing pitches up and out of zone with 2 strikes and just needs to calm down a taste. One of the hits Giants got in rally, I think before Yaz bomb, was hard hit ground ball through hole past 3b.
I was thinking years before Arenado would have snagged that and started a DP. So nice not to have to worry about him, especially back there.

I agree with you on post season format, Flav. Current set-up is asinine. This stretch run really is crazy….shades of 1993. Cards are due to cool down, but still, no way I want to play them in a one game play-in game.

I also think they should go back to 154 game schedule and have every team play a 7 inning doubleheader on Sundays 8 times to bring it down to the 154 number and then every team gets Monday off either for travel are home to get a breather..
