A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Nearing The Start

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 4, 2022

Am I reading this right? The Giants start the season at home for once? Against our “arch rivals” the Marlins no less. Oh well, can’t play an exciting team every series. I am still ramping up interest for the season but it’s coming, oh it’s coming…..

I am really looking forward to the season. I am probably one of the minority of people who dislike anything NBA so baseball will be a great respite. And, then the NFL draft is coming also. Looks like Gore will join the 49ers as a scouting evaluator and that Jed is totally behind the idea. If nothing else Frank does know football.

Actually I’m going to be more excited for next year’s baseball when the Giants play EVERY TEAM in baseball!
Then they alternate parks the following year to balance out the road trip fairness. And by then more of the young studs from the farms will be on the door step to the Show..

Kervin Castro sent to Sac. He was supposed to be this year’s Yusmeiro Petit (with more velo). In the televised game vs the bums the other day, iirc, he had one great inning, but then gave Joey B a workout in the next frame, forcing him to chase after wild FBs and bad curves in the dirt.

Jeter bailed out on the Marlins; not a good sign for the future of that franchise.

Said he was lied to, that rug pulled out from under him by ownership as he was ready to spend $$ and sign players. Hard to say exactly what’s going on there.

Jeter got rid of the big crazy sculpture thing beyond the outfield fence, and then left. That will be his legacy in Miami. Oh, and trading a bunch of star outfielders.

Former Dodgers slugger Tommy Davis dead at 83. Born in Brooklyn, attended Boys HIgh, signed with Dodgers after phone call from Jackie Robinson according to story I read. Career .294 BA, elite hitter before disastrous injury.

Great line Brad Pitt said in Moneyball,
“There are rich teams, there are poor teams
Then there is 50ft of crap 💩 Then there is us”

April 4 1988 Danny Manning and # 6 seed Kansas knocked off #1 seed Oklahoma 83-79 to win Championship Final. Manning had 31 and 18 boards to edge Mookie Blaylock and Stacey King’s team.

Another good game by Estrada, 2-3 with a bomb in win over the Effin’ A’s, looking forward to seeing this guy play.

Agree, I like Thairo. Thinking he might take over 2B from LaStella at some point, unless they want him as a super sub….

Sad about Brooklyn boy, Tommy Davis.
Not too many greats from the 60’s still around.
I could never stand Pete Rose but give him a break before he’s gone.
What’s the damn difference at this point?

Kansas rallies to beat plucky 8 seed Carolina.

Hell of a comeback by Kansas down 40-25 at the half and out scored North Carolina 47-29 to take the championship 72-69..Really turned up the pressure early in 2nd half to tie it up 50-50 with only 10 minutes in..
