Pads blew 4-2 lead and lost again at Coors to Rox 5-4, on HR from Ryan McMahon. They’ve now lost 9 in a row there. Mookie Betts to IL with cracked rib. Giants have favorable schedule rest of month around 4 in ATL next week—getaway game today vs. Pirates, then after Braves come home for series vs. Reds and Tigers.

Nice shots. Looks like a gorgeous ball park. What’s with the bag over the bridge?

    • Macdog said, on June 19, 2022 at 9:51 am

See below. Can’t see in the pics, but similarly yellow Andy Warhol and Rachel Carson bridges are nearby Clemente bridge.

Back at it today, with what looks like better seats. I was in the very last row yesterday, but it was still a good vantage point. The top picture is the Clemente bridge, currently closed with huge tarps over it. I didn’t know until the game Bucs started 4 rookies, including the SS who got 1st career hit.

Great pics thanks to the awesome Macdog. I think Javy was talking about using a scooter to get around one of the other bridges.
Game itself was a slog to watch–Wood and Leone weren’t very good and Pirates walked 9 Giants. If that had been night game at home starting at 6:45 don’t think I could have made it all the way through despite time advantage.

Saw a great documentary on PBS a year or so on the Hill District of Pittsburgh, once thriving black neighborhood that had number of clubs that catered to jazz musicians. Like Fillmore in SF, redevelopment ruined it. Sad because there is rich jazz history there including Billy Eckstine Mary Lou Williams Art Blakey George Benson and Stanley Turrentine among others I likely forgot to mention. Doc had footage of all of above, plus interviews.

Yikes, LaStella at 1b again. B/R lists him as 5′ 11″. No way.

Sometimes no choice when your carrying 3 crippled players( Belt,Longo,LaSpitty) and since Longo can’t go again it’s Flores at 3rd though there’s still Ruf?

Nice pics Mac! I really do like that ballpark layout and the 2 bridge’s you can see on the river with steam paddle boats I saw the other day, very nostalgic..Back at it today huh? True gamer, let’s ride off your hot coattails and get another W and the Sweep 🧹!!

Keep hearing rumors about a Bart trade to the Cubs for Contreras.I would be jumping on any scenario not adding another high prospect to make it happen!
Bart is sadly just Tommy Joseph now with a dead end career, make a push for a solid catcher now to stay in the race..

    • Flavor said, on June 19, 2022 at 10:19 am

Why would the cubs do that

    • unca_chuck said, on June 19, 2022 at 10:53 am

Don’t think the Giants are giving up on Bart yet.

  9. Macdog said, on June 19, 2022 at 10:30 am

Like yesterday, the dominant player jersey/shirt I’ve seen Bucs fans wear is Clemente. Seeing a few McCutchens in my section, lower level on Pirates side, so not many Giants fans around me.

  10. Macdog said, on June 19, 2022 at 11:05 am

Damn, 2 DPs keeping Bucs in this.

  11. snarkk said, on June 19, 2022 at 11:17 am

How did this Bucs team sweep the Doghairs in LA?
    Bucs suc…

  12. snarkk said, on June 19, 2022 at 11:20 am

MLB has way too many teams like Bucs who every Opening Day, have no shot to win anything. Even now with playoffs taking in about half the teams, I can’t see how there are any fans left for teams that have just stripped themselves down like the Bucs, A’s, Orioles, KC, Cincy,, Tigers, Cubs and now Nats, too. Look at the standings — every division has at least 2 teams totally out of it now, a couple have 3. AL West and NL Central are a joke…

  13. willedav said, on June 19, 2022 at 12:37 pm

That can’t be part of the “process.”

  14. snarkk said, on June 19, 2022 at 12:40 pm

    Longoria can’t run, can’t hit.
1 hard hit ball for his last 20 ABs.
Batting .207. WTF? Just IL him now for yet another stint to get healthy. He’s wasting a spot on the 26.
He’s turned into a damn pane of glass.
If he can’t get healthy, DFA his ass or trade for single A player. Last year of his deal, no big loss.
Get a young player in there who can phuckin’ play, run and hit the ball more than 70 mph once in a while.
I’m beginning to get the same feelings for LaStella. The guy is getting paid way too much for a bit o’ pop DH infielder who can’t play in the field and can’t run. I never have liked Giants picking up ex A’s players…

Not sure what Craw was thinking going into 2nd.

    • willedav said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:22 pm

Excuse from Flem, that by running through bag if he beat throw they’d need to tag him out and wouldn’t get DP at first kinda lame. I’ve seen more guys slide into 1b than not slide at 2b. Imagine if that had been done to Crawford–would have caused a brawl.

  16. Macdog said, on June 19, 2022 at 12:43 pm

Longo of course kills a rally.

  17. Macdog said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:05 pm

    Thairo!

  18. willedav said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:05 pm

    Haha Thairo!

  19. willedav said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:09 pm

David Villar btw is killing it at Sac. 17 HRs and OPS over 1.000, OB of .399. Plays 2b and 3b.
Agree with Snarkk–too many unhealthy and unproductive IF guys on roster.

    • unca_chuck said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:12 pm

I’ve been saying for 1.5 months to call up Villar.

  20. willedav said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:11 pm

Pirates trying to give this away, again.

  21. unca_chuck said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:11 pm

    Tyro!!!

  22. snarkk said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:12 pm

    Giants DFA’d catcher Papierski.
He’s the guy they got from the Astros in return for Dubon.
I don’t get how they traded Dubon for a throw away dude. Dubon has some skills, Houston needed some backup for a hurt Altuve. He was out of options so Giants didn’t have a ton of leverage, but come on, that’s the best they could do?

    • willedav said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:19 pm

yeah rather odd. Papierski came up to big club, couldn’t record a hit, gets sent out and then off roster altogether soon after.

  23. snarkk said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:15 pm

    Thairo playing well today.
That barehanded circus play earlier, now the game saver dong…

  24. willedav said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:17 pm

um, not unlucky or burned by “soft contact.”

    • James said, on June 19, 2022 at 7:16 pm

But the first HR given up this year in 30 innings, so a victim of the numbers and a locked in hitter.

  25. snarkk said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:17 pm

Insert my usual rant about Rogers NOT being a late innings pitcher in one run or tied games.
MLB rplay shows 73 mph lazy, cookie slider belt high middle inside. Horrendous pitch.
7th inning is where he belongs.
    He’s past his expiration date.
I don’t get it. If Kap says he was the only guy available for that frame, that’s crap.
Does he have pictures on Kap?…

  26. James said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:19 pm

Three very different pitchers. Pretty impressive.

  27. unca_chuck said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:26 pm

Dubon, the Keith Comstock of the Giants.

He lost his OF spot to Gonzalez and his IF spot to Estrada. He’s doing nothing for Houston.

    • snarkk said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:31 pm

At least he’s still on the 26…

  28. Macdog said, on June 19, 2022 at 1:36 pm

A first for me seeing a 3 HR game. Wrong team though. Effin’ Rogers

  29. Macdog said, on June 19, 2022 at 5:31 pm

The Dogpile losing always takes the sting out of a loss.

    • willedav said, on June 19, 2022 at 8:06 pm

yeah. They were ahead a run in 8th, Guardians tied it then won it 9th off Kimbrel.
Rox smoked Snell and reliever for 5 runs in 5th and beat Pads for 10th time in a row at Coors.

  30. Flavor said, on June 19, 2022 at 5:36 pm

i gave up a 3rd HR to a guy in HS. Knew he was on everything, vowed never to do it again. Only chance I’ve gotten since then has been in slow pitch softball and you’re goddamn right i ordered our pitcher to walk that fuck.

My first live game was a doubleheader vs. White Sox at Yankee Stadium (June ’65)
Tom Tresh hit 3 homers in the second game including one from each side of the plate.
Lined out hard to left trying for #4 iirc – only 57 years ago.
I was dying to try one of those cold Ballantines…

“Baseball and Ballantine… baseball and Ballantine..” Can still hear that song in my head from the commercials. I drank Ballantine ale a bit in my teens, had never tasted anything like it (not even sure if it was good or not, just different). My Father drank Schaefer, which to me tasted like a heavily carbonated loaf of bread, but remember that song too: “Schaefer is the one beer to have when you’re having more than one.” Good to get drunk on, I guess. My fav local beer was actually Schmidts of Philadephia. “One beautiful beer!”… yeah, why not.

      It was damn good beer.
      I’d drink it today, gladly…

      • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on June 19, 2022 at 9:04 pm

The first beer I ever tasted. My Dad let me try it while we were watching the Yankees on WPIX channel 11 on the ol’ black and white. Some memories are forever. Just don’t ask me what I did yesterday.

      • Bozo said, on June 20, 2022 at 6:05 am

The worst beer that I ever tasted, still tasted good.
I would probably say Pearl and Billy Beer were the worst that I tasted, and I think Billy Beer was just Pearl in the Billy Beer can.
