A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Newest 700 Guy

Doval threw a ball 104 last night. I don’t care if it wasn’t a strike, that’s sickening. You can sacrifice a little location when you throw fire like that.

Congrats to Pujols on 700. I vividly remember scooping him up off the waiver wire back in 2001 when I still played year-long fantasy and he carried my team to a glorious season victory.

Hah! My fallback is mlb.com audio. I’ve listened on the road a few times on these endless Montana trips and I used to listen at work when I used to go into the office.

mlb66.com is an excellent pirate site. Out of Ireland. That’s how I watched last year’s last games.

Huh. Yeah, Streameast seems to have lost all the MLB games.

Dogs announce Kimbrel out as closer. Wonder if Roberts management of pitching staff winds up being their downfall. Dogs should win even more games than last year, but…

I don’t care for Grant Brisbee at all, but he had great column in Athletic about Bonds years 2001-04 being best run of seasons ever. Great vid of when he hit #70 on road vs. Astros. In the clip you see guys like Dante Powell Cody Ransom Calvin Murray in celebration at home plate.

Were they part of the Bowker Gang?

      • willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 24, 2022 at 1:29 pm

Ha, no Bowker’s brief fling with success was 2008.
Giants went 72-90…Eugenio Velez, Ortmeier, Bocock, Nate Schierholtz. Emmanuel Burriss got into 94 games for them.

Eugenio Velez gave my youngest his autograph during our 2009 SF visit (a delayed 60th birthday trip). SF played the defending champion Phillies. I believe the noon Wednesday game was a 1-0 win over Pittsburgh with Cain batting in the 10th. Winning RBI from Randy Winn. As we and Marcel Proust know, though, memory is tricky. After that Wednesday game, we learned by outside-the-stadium chatter that the Giants obtained Freddy “Glass” Sanchez at the trade deadline. Maybe Ryan Klesko as well (gawd).

Those posts from 2010-12 were epic. Who knew TedSpe was Mr. Marianne Williamson Deepak Chopra Coelho? But, really, he had/has this masterly gift of skating on the edge of parody and then taking your breath away with pathos. I mean WOW. And, TedSpe, let me just declare your James Joycean reference to nightmare was not lost on this reader. (“History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake.”) And what the fuckin fuck about Magnus’s call of Cain’s perfecto?! did we all know that?

We keep this up and Magnus will be appointing a stable of us goons to stand in until his Pre-Midlife-non-Wordle Crisis is over. What the fuckn fuck.

Someone named Ford Proctor is supposedly starting at 2B for the Giants tonight.
    I’m not sure I believe it…

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on September 24, 2022 at 4:42 pm

I used to own a 1967 Ford Proctor. Hard to start and didn’t run well.

Shit, who posted the alt site for baseball? Streameast is officially dead.

Crawford’s been an amazingly consistent .220 hitter all season…

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 24, 2022 at 7:06 pm

Hit his 9th HR last night.
Villar hit his 7th, in 44 games and 130 ABs.
Kap said Estrada jammed his thumb the other night-saw a pitch he fouled off than ran in on his hands and I guess that’s when he did it.
Giants won rare game without him last night; tonight will be tougher go.

I’m sitting in Echoes craft brewery public bar in Poulsbo WA watching UW play Stanfoo over in Seattle. Absolutely excellent beers here. And, the bartender in rockin’ a SF hat, we talked about this season’s disappointments. Giants fans are everywhere!!!…

Gonna catch one more game with my son on Tuesday as I’m driving him to Montana on Thursday. Gonna try to avoid Idaho this time.
