Another Lead Lost
This season has reminded me a lot of this Seinfeld scene. We know how to TAKE a lead what we can’t seem to do is HOLD a lead….
Draymond being suspended for Game 3 is a total joke. At least the game is in SF where I expect we will see a different Kings team…….
Great job up above there, Flavor.
I’m officially done with Wordle after getting 4 letters in place
and missing on 4 guesses of the 8 possible letters to solve it.
What am I, a child?
Yesterday was like that for me. Round, pound, sound, found and mound but it was hound.
Complete joke and what I have not seen much of is criticism of Sabonis trying to fling Klay down and the whole world knows Klay’s injury history. But Dray put a little extra into using Sabonis’ chest to push off. But if Sabonis misses the game for injury then it is a trade off I can live with.
Brilliant. So the Giants are probably near the bottom in that all-important Hold stat. Is there now such a thing as a Blown Hold?
Mac’s Blown Hold stat is probably why we aren’t sitting pretty at .500. The Giants are around league average in most stats, SF does lead MLB in Ks and is pretty high up in HRs.
Dingers and Deadlifts is Kapler’s motto, maybe he should change that to Holds and Heavyweights or something.
Nice thing about baseball is for 6 months there is always another game soon on horizon, so Villar can forget about all the Ks (mostly on off speed stuff) yesterday, adjust to whomever is on mound today and try to get back in the groove.
Same for Warriors, who had adjustments to make anyway and get couple games at home where they’ve been much better for most part. Maybe an hour for someone to come in off bench and make a splash given more minutes.
My fav NBA team of all time was Wilt’s Champion Sixers, and after they knocked off Warrior’s for the title Wilt praised bench guy Matt Guokas for his contribution.
I saw your reference to Pluto’s ABA book. It’s “Loose Balls,” yeah, what a howl. Didn’t know it’s out of print, I might still have it.
Thanks Mac. That would be worth using Amazon gift card to grab if it’s still available.
Speaking of taking a lead, inexcusable brain fart by Ruf straying too far off 1b and getting picked off. Billy Martin would have made him find his own way back to SF.
Ruf is a stiff. Interesting explanation for Woods injury–pitcher’s steel spikes sticking in the plastic turf.
Krukow in his radio stint this morning was trying to blame the Giants losing on having a negative attitude, after hearing about Yaz saying the offense was essentially asleep at the wheel. The attitude isnt the problem, the problem is the overall team and organizational lack of MLB level talent. The bottom 4 in yesterday’s game had something like 10Ks out of their 0 for 15 ABs…
Bingo. Been saying for a while that the animosity directed at Kapler is fine and all, but there is little talent throughout the lineup. Even the pitchers are decent but nothing to write home about. Yeah, Webb is someone to build off of, but the rest are 3s and 4s.
The team malaise seems to be from everybody waiting for someone else to step up and do something. Odd that they can jump put to a lead though. The problem in recent down seasons is even getting a lead.
Sure, but bottom 4 included Crawford and bunch of young guys. Craw ain’t going anywhere this season and often sits vs. LHP. The kids need to play–Wisely Sabol Bart Villar, Ramos and Bryce Johnson if they can stick it out, Wade Jr. (0-3 with BB at leadoff) too. I don’t have problem watching the young guys while so many of vets like Pederson Slater Haniger and Conforto are hurt and unavailable.
Giants on pace for 2,000 Strikeouts, the MLB record is 1,500 something enough said how shitty of a team this is..
Giants had one run in, runners 1st and 3rd, nobody out, could not score any more. That is a recipe for losing…
Might as well start bringing up the kids. Personally I think there is a huge attitude problem or lack of desire, whatever. Just like any large organization it starts at the top.
I don’t think anything drastic happens yet. Yet. If they can have a decent homestand and at least look like a major league team in the next couple weeks, they stay the course. They keep on playing .250 ball, then they will prolly start dumping old guys by June.
See we lost a 1 run lead today.
2 walks no damage. zzzzzzzzzzz
Thairo is swinging at dirt balls. Last 2 ABs.
wow hella job by Doval there. Kap played that right too–no way you pitch to Arraez, nor Soler after Jazz stole 3b.
Yeah finally Kapler made some right moves especially on the international walks scenario which was obvious to me.Doval’s Houdini act blowing his 100 plus FB by 2 hitters with baseloaded was beautiful. Also Joey Bart made some incredible stops to help save that inning..
So hallelujah they got a much needed win and coming home to face the Mets, let’s get it on!!
How to turn 4 run lead into torture. Makes for nicer flight home.
Nice professional play to end the game. Maybe there’s hope. Conforto looks like the one promising addition Z made, although Manea has surprised me, so far. Long flight home to meet the Mets who’ll simply fly up from LA.
A victory!
StrikeOutman wraps up loss by Dogpile to the Mets. I didn’t know this was a 4-gamer vs. Mets starting tomorrow. No wonder the Dogpile played a rare midweek day game, so the Mets, as Xoot said, get an early trip to SF. But LA lost today, so.eff them.
yeah and followed by 4 straight here vs. Cardinals before next day off.
Padres shut out Braves 1-0, solo HR from Soto.
tomorrow Tatis Jr. will be on roster and in lineup playing RF at AZ. He hit 7 bombs in AAA rehab stint, including one stretch of 6 in 12 ABs.
Scherzer ejected by our old buddy Phil Cuzzi after hand inspection in LA this afternoon. Complained, “It’s rosin” per twitter lip readers.
Speaking of AAA West League, it’s a collection of mostly warm weather cities and 2 others of high elevation. East: El Paso Round Rock Sugar Land of Texas, Oklahoma City and Albuquerque.
West: Sacramento Vegas Reno Salt Lake City and Tacoma.
Talk about diverse climes, San Francisco where it’s Krukow friendly pitcher weather in summer and Sacramento, let alone Texas or OKC.
so the Giants young guys have to come from feasting at these hitters yards (where scores are like 17-9 game Sac over Reno 2 days ago) to the O, and face off against ML pitching. Hope some of them can figure it out and be part of the next group that contends.
Dave Wilcox gone at 80…
Sad news Wilcox was a true hard-nosed player.
I’m bummed LB Dave Wilcox was one of my favorite players to watch along with CB Jimmy Johnson! Not many teams tried to get yardage with those 2 on the left side of the line they were that good..RIP Dave Wilcox truly a Great HOF player you will be missed!
