Off to great start so hope he continues to get regular ABs somewhere once Crawford comes back and not just as platoon SS.
Part of baseball’s 3 outcome problem is inability or unwillingness of pitchers to throw strikes. Happened to Hjelle who was all over the place and then got hammered once he came into zone, same as Beck. Lot of hitters K at alarming rates to begin with.
This guy Waites that came in there last night walking guys with 6-0 lead in 9th is just a wtf.
Schimitt is the shot in the arm this team needs. Hope he can stay in the zone.
With all our pitching woes Cobb has been nothing but amazing.
Kapler would be a complete fool if Schmitt isn’t in this LU everyday.He doesn’t even act like a rook, he’s calm, plays with controlled emotions in the field and at AB’s, ( picking the brain of Craw is cool too, kid just wants to absorb as much knowledge as possible)gives that clubhouse more juice to build off as a franchise piece for the future!
PS..Speaking of future does David Villar still have one? He’s obviously odd man out losing his job to Davis and now Scmitt, he really needs to go bak down to Sac and work on hitting breaking balls cause the league has figured him out..

If the season ended right now, each of the big 5 free agent signings would have the worst stats of their careers . . . by a lot. If they’d collectively been merely below average through the first quarter of the season, the Giants would be over 500. That’s heads coming up 5 times in row when you’re calling tails. It can’t stay this way for the entire season . . . I hope.
Well, the biggest fail by far has been the relievers. And the shitty back end of the rotation. Yeah, they get shut out once in a while, but the pan has given up a ton of leads. It may be settling down a bit but I’m still iffy about Stripchat, Manaea, Shitter, and now Tom Waites.
Sure, that’s legit. I was marveling at the chances of all 5 of these FAs being far worse than a mix of ho hum or disappointing. If the pitchers each had an ERA of 5 and Conforto/Haniger 690 OPSs, SF would very likely have at least a couple more wins.

Todays the anniversary of the college game where Buster played every position, finishing as closer. Casey could’ve done that too, given a chance. His era as a college pitcher was something like .28, while he excelled in the field and raked at the plate. He is our salvation.
