Snakes on the Ropes
Tonight’s game would be more interesting to me if it wasn’t a bunch of opener bullshit. They really need to do something about that.
Boch 2 wins away from glory.
1-1
Huge Game 3 in Arizona tonight. That guy with the ridiculous last name goes for the Dbacks vs what appears to be a completely over the hill Scherzer. Shit he’s 39? One of the game’s great fighters though, maybe he’s got a gem up his sleeve in the city where his career started back in 2008.
Not much to say about the Niners. Their D can’t stop anyone. That’s inexcusable considering they have mostly the same crew as last year. Hmmmmm there was one change. But what could it be?
#shitcanWilks
Purdy is taking some shit but I think it’s unwarranted. He made some fantastic throws in that game along with some incredible reads. But, all people are remembering are the picks. QBs throw interceptions. Montana threw a shitload of them.
Game 1 Was Great
I don’t understand why people say things like “oh man the network must be so bummed about this match up.” This is a fantastic match up. Both teams have exciting players. Arizona is incredible with their speed and athleticism. And Texas can just bomb the shit out of the ball.
Any baseball fan would appreciate this World Series.
Golf in Davis today. Wild Horse. This was the trip we were supposed to do with my man Gary. So it will be bittersweet but I’m excited to play and toast my friend over a fire pit party later tonight……
What Did He Really Mean?
I’m still trying to translate Johnson’s comments from the other day about *somewhat trying to break even.*. Even for an out of touch owner that was an incredibly tone deaf thing to say in public. Then Buster backed him up by saying he “wholeheartedly” believes winning a World Series is a top priority for Johnson and his cohorts……
So one of three things is at play here.
- Buster has been hit in the head too many times and he’s just a dunce catcher who believes whatever anyone tells him.
- Buster is a boardroom guy now and will be towing the company line from here on out.
- Buster is speaking the truth.
Because none of us know the answer to these questions we have to search for more clues. And Bob Melvin deciding to take the manager job is a pretty good clue. Completely respected by all in baseball (other than that idiot AJ Preller) it would be odd for Melvin to take this gig if he didn’t truly believe Johnson and his group didn’t understand that winning the World Series is the top priority.
Therefore I’m willing to give Johnson a little slack, maybe he’s just a terrible public speaker who froze up and said something stupid.
Go Rangers.
AZ vs The Bochys
Good for Arizona, they earned that. And if Philly couldn’t finish the job with 2 straight at home in front of those maniacs they certainly didn’t deserve to go to the World Series. As is now quite evident, the Dbacks are building an exciting young team that has both power and speed. They will add an SP or 2 and be a dominant force in our division for years to come.
The only thing that sucks is that it’s too bad MadBum fell apart the way he did. Imagine if we’d gotten to watch him pitch in this series, even coming out of the bullpen. Sadly, that was not meant to be.
NBA has started and I’m having trouble ramping up for that.
Kick Him To The Curb
That Niner game was absolutely infuriating. And I don’t really care that our shitty kicker hit a long one. We’re just waiting around for him to miss another. It was a huge mistake to draft him in the 3rd round, a mistake that goes on a long list of early round draft picks by Lynch/Shanny. Get rid of him and find some no name kid from Eastern West Iowa State who just wants to surprise everyone……
Happy for Boch.
Now if Philly can just get their head of of their ass and win today I’ll be happy……
Finish Them
After both series started out 2-0 I’ve been surprised at the twists and turns taken since. But tonight we should find out the representatives for this year’s Fall Classic. I can’t imagine Arizona wins tonight. And we’ve got a Game 7 in Houston. It doesn’t make any sense why the Astros are having such a tough time at home. Chalk it up to a small sample size. And Max looked pretty ave in his last start.
Philly Just About There
Ok, heading back to Philly up 3-2 pretty much ensures the Phillies pathway to the NL Pennant. I can’t envision AZ taking two straight in that environment with so much on the line and those lunatics in the stands screaming their lungs out.
Boch in play for a pretty epic meltdown if he can’t win today. If he comes back from 3-2 after starting out 2-0, oh my what it will do to his legacy.
Astros Not Done By A Longshot
Two games today, 1 of them, again, starting at 2pm. WTF? Does MLB care that some people have to work? As of today, Texas seems like they’re in far more trouble than Philly. But I like that both series are turning into a battle. Although I’d be fine if Philly won today lol
Houston Surprises
Hold the phone, what’s this? Some life from Houston? What’s next, Arizona wins tonight? Are things about to get interesting?
With The Match Up Nearly Set
Looks like it’s almost a can’t miss Rangers vs My Phillies at this point. Though they had the same regular season record Texas swept Philly in a regular season match up and therefore they will have homefield advantage. That is going to be huge. Huge in the sense that the Philly fans don’t get to impact the first two games of the series. I will have to cover on Texas now.
Arizona Not Matching Up
Might be overreacting to just one game but it looks like the Phillies are home free into the World Series. I can’t see how they’d lose tonight with Nola going in that insane atmosphere they have there. Texas is no pushover though. Great to see Bochy doing so well, seeing him in the dugout reminds us all of some good ol’ memories even if he’s in that weird looking uniform…..
Bochy, A Giant (Head) Among Men
It’s impossible to not be impressed with what Bochy has done in his first year managing the Rangers. Yes, he has good players. But to get to the point in the season you have to be pushing the right buttons and the results speak for themselves. I am obviously rooting for Philly as I got them at 14-1 before the post season started but I will greatly fear Boch should Philly meet Texas in the World Series.
Shocking Win
LOL, how did Stanford pull off that win? They are one of the worst teams in the country, on the road, and getting blown out at halftime.
Prime Time, as I’ve been saying for weeks, is extremely overrated. He’s a great motivator but I question his coaching skills. I think he probably needs to add better coaches around him but my guess is that he’s going to get tired of coaching soon enough and/or right after his kids graduate from the program.
Waiting around for MLB to re-start is lame. Why are we waiting around till Sunday?
L(OL)A Exits Again
Watching the Dbacks come together and play like they did in September, it was obvious that they’d turned a corner and they were certainly a million miles better than the Giants. But wow, I didn’t expect them to just systematically disable and embarrass the Dodgers the way they did. Impressive.
Now we just sit back and root for the Phillies to finish off the Braves and this post season is going along positively swimmingly.
When Winning Sets You Up For Losing
Lots of talk about how the *100 win teams* are at a disadvatage going into these series vs the wild card teams because they had so much time off. Like they lost their edge and the WC teams come in razor shape. Um, I guess? I think it’s more likely that the favored teams are just playing a little tighter than usual. It doesn’t take much to disrupt your team if you are playing tight. But let’s say it’s true what they say, that sitting for 4-5 days sets you up for failure. There isn’t much you can do about that. The only think I can think of is push the series back another 4-5 days so the WC team has to sit 4-5 days, too. But MLB is already playing so late into the season I don’t know if that’s feasible. Plus, then the division winners are sitting 8-10 days. Anyone here got a better idea?
Tough Loss For Philly
I get what Harper was trying to do but there were no outs, he didn’t HAVE to score from first. Huge blunder. But in the end it probably didn’t matter. Atlanta just seemed destined to win that game. I mean if you can’t hold a 4-0 lead while no hitting one of the best hitting teams in the lead, it probably wasn’t meant to be for you.
Dodgers sucking as usual. Honestly, it’s like almost every year. I don’t understand how Roberts keeps his job.
Total Domination
The ass whippin’ I wished for came to pass. That was not a competitive effort from the Cowboys. We are so much better than them, lol. If you find any videos today on tiktok of idiot Dallas fans destroying the tvs feel free to post them here.
Hoping for Wheeler to be a dealer today but am worried Atlanta bats could wake up. A 2-0 lead would be sweet though. Same goes for AZ but I don’t have $ on them just a great desire to see Dave Roberts sitting in the dugout sad and stonefaced again.
Niners/Cowboys
I mean, what else is there to say? A more iconic match up in sports I cannot think of. This rivalry shaped my childhood and how I looked at sports. We seem to play them very little in the regular season.
I still remember blowing them out in ’81 and me and my friends were like “Uh, we have a good football team.” We’d never felt that way before about any local team.
The pride I feel as a Niner fan when we kick the shit out of the Cowboys is like no other feeling as a fan you can have…
NLDS
Baseball begins again today. It shall act as a sufficient distraction until the Niner game tomorrow. I’m assuming we’re all rooting for Baltimore, Minnesota, Philly and AZ?
Wild Card Series Done, To the DS We GO!
Fun to see those fans all get to celebrate and there was certainly a lot of electricity in the games (minus The Rays) but all 4 series ending 2-0? With no late inning comebacks or lead changes? Yikes. From that standpoint it was a little boring, eh?
Ok, I get why the Niners are favored to win on Sunday. Nobody believes in the Cowboys. Say they haven’t beaten anyone. But we’ve beaten Pitt, Rams, Giants and AZ–none of whom is over .500.
Seems to me like both teams are good measuring sticks for one another.
The Post Season Has Begun
Yesterday was fun. The Dbacks are an exciting team to watch and they won, too. And how bout Royce Lewis (rookie) coming off the IL to blast 2 bombs for the Twins? He’s the guy who is smashing all the Grand Slam records, btw….
Since pitching wins in the post season I wonder if the stolen base is going to have an even bigger role this year than in year’s past?
I misspoke when I said our young guys had failed….so far. What I meant is that none of them have come up and done what so many rookies did this year–and some of those rookies are younger than our rookies. So I have been jealous watching all of that unfold and then having to watch guys like Matos and Schmitt crush it in the minors only to come up here and do very little. Bailey was the exception.
Why do other teams have rookies who come up and smash and with us we always hear “it’s going to take time, they’re rookies.”
If none of the guys who came up this year ever develop into anything (certainly not anything like a Carroll or an Acuna or a Henderson) will any of you be even remotely surprised?
Who’s Going To Win?
Obviously, the Braves look like huge favorites. Surprisingly they are only +315 at draftkings with Houston and LA right behind at +415. The longshots are the Dbacks and the Marlins at +3000 and +3500 respectively.
As we know all too well, even though it seems like 10 lifetimes ago, all you need to do to win the World Series is #gethot and #getclutch for a spell.
I might put a couple of Benjamins on the Rays +1000 and the Phillies +1300 just to have something to root for.
But truly, who knows? It’s baseball, just about anything can happen right now. It’s what puts this sport ahead of NBA and NFL for me.
There’s a free MLB.com bracket game if you want to do that

And That’s A Wrap
I didn’t watch the last game nor any of the last games for about the last week. Did they do anything for the Crawford celebration?
There is so much to fix with this team it’s daunting to even know where to start. If I had to pick one thing, and I’d need a gun to my head to just pick 1, I’d probably start with making the team more athletic and faster. The Arizona series really highlighted how far we’ve sunk to the bottom.
Regarding the blog, I’ll keep it open through the World Series and then shutter her doors for the Winter. That seemed to work really well for me last year and I’ll be re-charged for 2024.
Gary’s memorial was incredible. Probably had 300 or so people from all sections of his life. You’ll be happy to know that your boy Big Flavor made it through a 4 minute speech without embarrassingly crying and being unable to speak. I am so thankful that I got to have that moment with all those people and Gary watching down from above……
Again, thank you to anyone who contributed to Gary’s gofundme. After I heard of how truly desperate his window is I gave her another $500 in cash, everything I had on me, at the memorial. If you missed it or are able to give now, I know we passed the goal of 10K at gofundme but she really does have an uphill climb to start over right now, here’s the link. Again, thank you so much for being so supportive of me during this incredibly difficult time in my life.
