Huge Game 3 in Arizona tonight. That guy with the ridiculous last name goes for the Dbacks vs what appears to be a completely over the hill Scherzer. Shit he’s 39? One of the game’s great fighters though, maybe he’s got a gem up his sleeve in the city where his career started back in 2008.
Not much to say about the Niners. Their D can’t stop anyone. That’s inexcusable considering they have mostly the same crew as last year. Hmmmmm there was one change. But what could it be?

Purdy is taking some shit but I think it’s unwarranted. He made some fantastic throws in that game along with some incredible reads. But, all people are remembering are the picks. QBs throw interceptions. Montana threw a shitload of them.

The short pass intercepted late was fairly stupid, and this offense should be scoring more than 17 points, but all in all, the defense is atrocious. This looks like the SIngletary days when we couldn’t stop anyone on 3rd down. Screens and short passes just eat us alive. Over and over and over.
With no pass rush, we don’t get INTs. Our huge turnover advantage early is just not working when Burrow can just stand back there and read 2-3 routes.

Scherzer’s first World Series start was in ’12 Game 4, left after 6 1/3 with 8 Ks and game at 3-3. This part I don’t remember, from AP story today: “The Giants’ clincher against Detroit was played in 44-degree temperatures with howling winds, and it felt colder to Scherzer.” Don’t think that’ll be an issue tonight.
Throwing 2 picks in the red zone is hardly unwarranted criticism. Brock has got to get better at finishing drives. In the last 2 games he had 4 picks in the 4th quarter.

Without Trent Williams, our run game has died. Purdy was the leading rusher yesterday. And since we are leaning on Purdy to get us out from deficits, he’s not exactly playing his best ball late in games.
Michael Silver mentioned some guys to help O line D Line and a corner so secondary can look different. Thoughts?
We already got Gregory for the pass rush. I don’t see us adding to the D line. Corners are OK. I just think we need to scheme our rushes better. Throw a stunt or 2 in there. We have FIVE YEARS of our own tape to look at as to how to do a better job of getting pressure.
As far as the O line goes, I’ve been harping O line depth since May and they don’t listen.
Still and all, when Deebo and WIlliams are back for the Jacksonville game, the offense should improve. I’m hoping they shitcan Wilks and promote Kris Kurocek, the D line coach.
I’m no defensive expert or Niners expert, but just watching video of the game, it seemed like there were a lot of missed tackles. Coverage seemed ok, players were there, but missed a bunch of tackles.

The team just seem so fucking flat these last three games. Like they thought since they blew away Dallas, they could lollygag through the rest of the season. And that is squarely on the coaches.
They are now 5th seed in the NFC standings.
Secondary/D Line kinda chicken/egg thing. If line got to QB, DBs wouldn’t have to cover so long, if they covered tighter, then line had another second or two to get pressure or sack. Sacks been few and far between, and running game of opponents has had lot more recent success. As have last 2 QBs they’ve faced, who seem pretty comfortable picking apart the defense. New blood can’t hurt.
Then we need to play better short zone defense. QBs are just pitching and catching 8-12 yard passes at will.

look, we pay our Dline a SHIT TON of $$$$. They need to do their job. Our corners are fine but they aren’t the rolls royce of the defense. That’s the Dline. Get to the fucking QB
Well, yeah, but Purdy has to stop fucking up late in games. Yeah, we don’t get the ball much because the other offense is on the field all game, but he’s got 4 4th quarter picks in the last 2 games. The first one led to, surprise, an 89 yard TD drive by Cincy. So, instead of tying the game we are down 14. Purdy had something to do with that.
He did enough to win the Cleveland game, but we didn’t win it.
The point being, the defense used to give the offense numerous opportunities to score. These last 3 games, not so much. Still and all, we had 460 YARDS of offense yesterday. Purdy has to be at least partly accountable for the fact we’ve been stuck on 17 these last 3 games. Fuck it. 2 games. Cleve has a legit defense. Minnesota and fucking Cincy? No. Teams run all over Cincy but we can’t do shit. As bad as the defense is, the offense is stuck in 2nd gear.
Thank god Dodgers let Seager go.

D-line not getting it done. 1st int was the killer, but also took a very athletic play by the d-line man to do it.
