A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

New Fire Power in SF

Love the Niners first round pick–Slick Rick. That dude is electric. People are going to compare him to Gray and that’s not fair. Gray was a reach at 3, he doesn’t have the skills of this dude. Personally, I wanted them to trade Deebo but I guess no one wanted him or maybe they saw what we all see– a dude who is going to keep getting injured as he gets older. Pearsall and Aiyuk are boys maybe there is still a plan to somehow move Samuel. Either way, even if they keep them both they are for sure losing 1 of them at the end of 2025 so why not add a stud like Rickey? We have nothing after Samuel and Aiyuk…..

If you liked Candlestick you’ll love tonight’s game. Cold and windy. If you’ve never been to a game at Oracle it can get just as cold as Candlestick at night when those winds get going. The ballpark structure minimizes it a bit compared to Candlestick but make no mistake it can get cold as fuck in that park on certain nights.

Check out this reaction from Stroud when it’s announced the Niners took RP. That’s a good sign.

Good columns in TA from Matt Barrows on potential picks in 2nd round and beyond. Couple O linemen in there, including guy who worked other side from #5 pick of Chargers and another who protected blind side for Penix at UW. Corners and D linemen/backers too. Niners seem to do best in later rounds anyway, right?

zero blame for Deebe or Aiyuk wanting to get paid; only short window to collect unlike in other major sports. Seems like Deebo could be moved at any time before Purdy starts getting paid, always issue with teams that win.

Aiyuk tweet was “Fire pick, can’t lie”. Turns out he was at ASU for year w Pearsall.

Btw Pearsall played HS ball in AZ against Purdy, who said, “I think he put 70 on my team.”

which is true, Purdy’s team beat Pearsall’s team 70-24, as Purdy passed for 4 TDs.

I just hope they can find a taker for Deebo so we can keep Aiyuk!

I’d have picked CB Cooper DeJean. This team could have traded up a few spots and got OT Guyton. Jennings and Taylor are fine as the 3s. Fucking Lombardi said he’ll be a great punt returner. Just what you want at the 1.

This team needs CB depth and O line depth before WR depth. We had 33 year old castoff Logan Ryan getting burned in the Super Bowl.

Soler’s in his 11th season. His career WAR is 6. 3.5 of that came in 2019. 1.8, last year. Good night for him to hang in the dugout wearing one of those full length sideline hoodies.

  6. unca_chuck said, on April 26, 2024 at 11:37 am

Or even Koolaide. Deebo is a huge cap hit if traded this year. Not gonna happen. And they’d save money this year on an extension to BA. My thoughts anyway. I think they keep the band together one more season.

When Purdy’s contract happens, there will be some turnover.

Not trying to hex/reverse hex anyone, but Pirates 23 yr old SP for tonight Quinn Priester had rough debut season last year for them. Pitched in 10 games w 8 starts, 50 innings 58 hits 27 BBs 12 HRs ERA of 7.74. Hit 3 guys and threw 5 wild pitches. WHIP was 1.70, FIP 6.74.

Made one start so far vs. BoSox April 19: 4.1 innings 7 hits 2 BBs 5 runs/4 earned 3 HRs.

Pirates did play yesterday, 7-5 L to Brewers and have lost 8 of last 10 including 6 in a row from 15th-21st to Mets and Boston.

Meanwhile Joey Bart is 7-20 with 3 Bombs 💣 and still could of been the backup here at less money and a much better defensive catcher and way younger than this chump.God forbid if something happens to Bailey and we’re stuck with Murphy&Sabol behind the plate.

Tom Murphy Medicare player 2-27 .074 their paying him 8.25 million , can’t hit, definitely stinks defensively! Farhan and ownership stay clueless keeping Medicare players like Slater(.114)Murphy,Yaz( Mendoza line)around and not bringing up Ramos,Matos,Luciano,Schmitt. This team needs more injections of youth going forward!

    • xoot said, on April 26, 2024 at 12:30 pm

I think I saw that Luciano finally hit his first HR of the year the other day. Yeah. Checked it. 102 PAs so far. .808 OPS, tho.

  9. Flavor said, on April 26, 2024 at 12:21 pm

Bart needed a change of scenery. And Murphy is a significantly better hitter than him–a hitter you might not want to toss overboard after 27 fucking at bats LMAO

Mays started his career like 1 for 26…

Mason Black yesterday vs. Vegas: 5 innings (71 pitches) 3 hits 0 earned 1 BB 5 Ks. 6 groundball outs to 1 flyout. Listo!

    Lowers ERA to 1.19

    Pitched 22 innings allowed 16 hits 1 HR 5 BBs 25 Ks. 3rd round pick 2021

  13. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 6:40 pm

The A’s have quietly developed an amazing closer, which means, of course, in a few years he’ll be pitching for the Yankees or the Dodgers.

  14. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 6:44 pm

Pittsburgh is a good spot for Bart. Kind of out of the blaring spotlight, and can just play ball, without the super high expectations.

  15. Paul Sorensen said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:01 pm

Kat, I like the autocorrect (at least I think it was autocorrect) in your post calling Murphy and Slater “Medicare” players… :-)

  16. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:10 pm

Amazon wanted a great song for their TV commercial so they went back about 50 years for Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4.”

  17. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:14 pm

50 years from now will there be a single Taylor Swift song that anyone cares about?

    Spoiler alert: no

  18. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:25 pm

Connor Joe is hitting better than any of our current outfielders.

    • zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:28 pm

(Although he’s playing first base tonight.)

  19. willedav said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:31 pm

Phils have hit 4 HRs off Joe Musgrove in 3 innings at Petco.

  20. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:36 pm

Sparse crowd on the cold night.

  21. willedav said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:36 pm

Good sign, K w breaking ball.

  22. xoot said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:44 pm

be a great night for Soler to put one in the water. Wish he would.

The Giants are real estate champions.

  26. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 7:55 pm

I defy any other team to real estate like us.

    • xoot said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:00 pm

      Braves, for one.

I like the white window frames in the office building, shaped like sloops sailing the bay. May get old.

  28. willedav said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:17 pm

Grandson w nice grab as Cutch stung one.

why doesn’t Harrison come inside on hands more w that fastball of his?

  29. Locojuan said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:35 pm

Good time for Soler to hit one.

    • Locojuan said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:37 pm

Well, he didn’t hit into a double play.

  30. Lurker John said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:40 pm

Soler is a hot mess right now and it doesn’t look like he’s coming out of it any time soon. What a disaster.

  31. mrsprtdude said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:41 pm

    Soler is a mess 100%

  32. Lurker John said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:43 pm

Harrison’s best outing so far, if you ask me. ERA down to around 4 now. He had a pretty good breaking ball tonight. I think that’ll be key for him, continuing to develop his secondary pitches

  33. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:44 pm

Late arrivers to the ballpark made for a bigger crowd. Fireworks after the game, but not so much in the game so far.

  34. Lurker John said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:57 pm

Giants offense just disappears at times. Not a very exciting team to watch.

    • zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 8:59 pm

Chapman might be the biggest dud of all.

      • djloo27 said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:08 pm

Very clever, Zumiee. As you obviously know that’s what we used to call a firecracker or M-80 that didn’t go off…

  35. zumiee said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:04 pm

Is there any real evidence that pets are better off with gourmet pet food instead of the regular stuff?

    • unca_chuck said, on April 26, 2024 at 11:22 pm

Yes. My niece has an 8 year old Bernaise Mountain dog that was losing hair and couldn’t walk very far, and got much better after going on one of those things. Farmer’s Dog?

  36. alleykat69 said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:05 pm

Medicare Gang is not helping in the excitement LJ…

Do agree with you about Harrison back to back solid starts then one was his best for sure 6 strong 5 hits,ZERO walks, 7K’s lowering his era to 4.09..

  37. Macdog said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:16 pm

    Unfuckingbelievable.

  38. Lurker John said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:17 pm

I’m having a tough time figuring out why Fitzgerald and Ahmed are on this team. They both suck. I’d rather see Luciano flounder in the big leagues than either of those clowns.

    • xoot said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:29 pm

and Schmitt. He can play three IF positions.

  39. Lurker John said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:18 pm

I’d pitch around Wilmer to get to Soler too.

  56. Lurker John said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:43 pm

That was Bart behind the plate who couldn’t keep that pitch in front of him. We’ve all seen that from him before, not that it mattered with Bailey’s clout.

  57. alleykat69 said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:47 pm

Ricky Pearsall drooling as he climbs the fence behind home plate in a stupor state!

Oops wrong sport, oh wait no it isn’t it’s “The Jim Piersall story”

  58. willedav said, on April 26, 2024 at 9:59 pm

11 more groundball outs tonight, including all important Doval DP. I’ll take Ahmed Lee and Chapman’s solid D every day, plus Estrada. Fitz handled 2b OK tonight too. Giants are so much better defensively than last year. Maybe Luci can DH.

  59. unca_chuck said, on April 26, 2024 at 11:23 pm

    win!
