Comeback Win
Well, another game I clicked off early only to find out we some how ended up winning. Lose a game late, win a game late, maybe I should just wait and flip these games on in the 8th inning.
Paul Skenes tonight. This is gonna be must watch…..
going into last night’s game we had the same record as the Pirates so this matchup is a much better reflection of where we are as a team rather than sweeping the Rockies. Each team blowing games late probably also reflects both team’s mediocrity. Pirates though seem to have the young pitching building blocks to develop a competitive team and a couple young hitters. We need to see if our young hitters are the stuff to build around.
Giants winning last night added to my joy yesterday, as late afternoon was the AHs earnings report of NVDA, where they also “knocked it out of the park” (as I bought a significant stake in it earlier this year). Gravy on the mash potatoes was them announcing a 10-1 split.
Bought some Nvidia at $150 in 2020. Wish I bought more!
Well, on June 7th, that will “magically” increase to 1500 shares, if you still own the shares. Unequivocally, not a financial gain . . . However, 9 times out of 10, doing this acts as a catalyst to bring in more retail investors, along with NVDA employees. Frankly, AI has a long runway Unca, where you could be looking at continued astronomical gains as NVDA and others monetize it. We’re at the beginning of that, not the end – could go on for a decade or more, e.g., Cisco in 1990s insofar as the internet build-up (until the DOT Com crash in 2000 . . . Red letter lucky date for me, because the Gods looked kindly on me 3 days before the crash, i.e., I settled with my soon to be ex-wife after selling all my stocks the Friday before the crash).
Still got ’em. Might buy more before the June 10th split date.
I bought $11k worth in 2019.
Nicely done Xoot!
I have advisors. I really don’t know much about the markets. My younger son, though, an engineer, bought nvidia then on his own, while he was still in college. Effing kids.
I was with Merrill Lynch when I worked at the Naval Postgraduate School (1989-1992). I might have made a few thousand dollars with them, maybe less in those 3 years (although, most of my money was going into my pension retirement fund – now, that was a good investment!).
After that experience, I knew enough to educate myself about the market, concurrent with the advent of the internet, where I was comfortable being my “financial advisor.” lol . . . Just my experience, but financial advisors charge fees, which can eat into your returns. Fees can vary depending on the advisor’s experience, the complexity of your portfolio, and the services provided. Nevertheless, per one study I read (Vanguard I think), they indicated a 3% greater return versus DIY. Dunno . . .
The guys I have charge 75 basis points. They’re the successors to a guy who specialized in what I guess is balanced growth for sports stars. Way back when, collaborated with him in a couple of lawsuits involving clients who got defrauded before being introduced to him. My growth after fees has been good.
Sounds like a sound move xoot!
Interesting column in TA by Eno Sarris on rankings for fantasy SPs. Said of Jordan Hicks, “his fastball velocity is generally falling over the course of the season” while excusing him for being sick in last outing.
Of Logan Webb he says that changeup “…has become more horizontal than vertical” and it’s being hit harder, which is more dangerous away from home yard.
mlb.com lists Erik Miller as Giants SP today vs. Skenes. whoa
BoMel turns the team on its back like a dog signaling acceptance of domination?
Just wondering if Mason black is available or how many innings he could go. tyler rogers Walker and Doval have all worked in relief last couple days. Melvin will get report on who can go today and for how long. No idea who that is.
Skenes has pitched 10 inning total in his 2 starts and on some kind of limit.
Lamont Wade is an on-base machine.
Up to .484 for the season. 6 for 6 last night — 3 hits, 3 BB…
Barry in 2004 had the all time season OBP at .609.
Insane…
Lol Snarkk. Yeah bend me over Erik Miller I’ll be your submissive bitch today for my one inning..
The dude that’s says I’m only going 1 inning max in any game then my confidence is shot Wtf?
From MLB.
Of the top 10 draft picks for 2019, 9 have reached the majors, 1 has not.
Hunter Bishop, Giants…
Top 10 meaning First 10…
You guys noticed the 26 man roster pictures?
Wisely&McKenna are identical clones facial wise,it’s scary.
And why are all of are outfielders all midgets 5’11 tops!!Hydrant Days are back! Bernard,Pagan,Torres and I’ll take a short stack for breakfast 🥞
Mays
Mike Felder…
Paul Skenes this morning, 9:30 AM.
Matos is looking very confident. For good reason.
Sure be nice to see a getaway win.
Matos not confident on that catch he had in the glove. That blue glove did him in..
Didn’t take long for Miller to give up the lead 2 pitches HR..Cutch
Damn. Matos had that.
oooops. Matos botched that.
Casali deke Tellez? Moved outside as if another slider is coming then whoosh they freeze him w fastball.
Nice recovery.
Ramos line drive single to RF was off fastball at 98.
OK. There goes the 27 out minimum.
DPs have helped pitch count. Doubtful he lasts more than 6.
They have 3 hits off Skenes and making him work, he’s good but I’m not worried they will score off of him..
Another productive out for Soler!
another soft IF FC RBI for Soler. Okay.
Shutdown inning???
arggh Black gifting light hitting Pirates 3 bases here.
Nope.
Fuck us…
The Wrath of Bart — his first grand salami comes against SF, of course.
Black is sure not living up to his Spring Training promise…
At least he didn’t pull any hot dog crap…
Bart’s revenge.
Give him credit he has hit ball hard in this series. 4-8 I think radio guy said.
Payback is a bitch!
Grandslam by BlackBart combo..
Freaking Black is a HR giving up machine..
I’m not overly impressed with Skenes, but that Salami was a gut punch to overcome..
So….getting to .500 is going to be like getting to the top of Mt. Everest….OK….
That 13th ranked team ERA isn’t showing any signs of coming down.
Can Matos and Ramos speak any language?
They sure look confused out there way to much.
It’s the Centerfielders job to take responsibility but Matos will never be a Mays take charge guy..
Buck Fart.
Drag bunt? Huh?
OK, make hay against the pen. Oh great, McKenna the savior.
That’s a start. Ramos bomb.
Boom Ramos rakes hanging slider
I wonder why Flemming sometimes adds “a” at the end of sentences. “game-a” “same-a” “down the line-a”
McCutcheon transactions in case you forgot…
January 15, 2018: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with cash to the San Francisco Giants for Kyle Crick, Bryan Reynolds and international bonus slot money.
August 31, 2018: Traded by the San Francisco Giants with cash to the New York Yankees for Juan De Paula (minors) and Abiatal Avelino.
Utter joke. The nadir of Evans.
Although we screwed the Pirates pretty good over the years I guess…
Schmidt was a steal.
Fucking reaction Jackson giving shit right back. Seen enough of him.
Can we forever end the myth that the Giants haven’t drafted and developed an All-Star outfielder in decades? REYNOLDS WAS A GIANT. YES, THEY STUPIDLY TRADED HIM AWAY, BUT REYNOLDS WAS A GIANT.
And that’s not even counting Duvall, who the Giants traded away and was turned into an outfielder by other teams.
Duvall was blocked at third base for the Giants by the STUPID Longoria contract.
Actually before that trade I guess.
The Giants years between 2017-2020 are kind of a blur for me now.
And I guess Adam Duvall…
June 8, 2010: Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 11th round of the 2010 amateur draft. Player signed June 19, 2010.
July 30, 2015: Traded by the San Francisco Giants with Keury Mella to the Cincinnati Reds for Mike Leake.
Ha! You and I are on the same mind wave.
Hopefully you’ll recover…
Chill, Zume. We sure didn’t develop them, did we?
Just so tired of hearing that myth, sorry.
exactly. Pablo played 3B when Duvall came up in 14. And Reynolds played only one year in the minors for us.
Jackson started the 9th instead of Rodriguez the first night and instantly screwed up in a game Rodriguez would of got the job done!
I’m through with Puss Jackson in the pen his ERA just keeps going up..
Happy Chappie!!
Right back in it…if Giants pen guys can get people out.
Chapman is at his AS best right now.
How about that!
el Cubano vive!
Soler line drive double. Pirates pen ain’t in good shape either.
Chapman another Bomb! 3 in the series! If it wasn’t for useless No Action Jackson it would be tied up!
Oh wait a double for Soler still no outs let’s go!!!
Wilmet! tie ballgame
Soler and Wilbur for the tie!!
Mr. Ed lives!
Man, the Pirates bullpen sucks.
It kind of amazes me how little I remember of the Giants seasons from 2017-2020.
The five fives? ZZ Top in the pen?
I remember ZZ Top!
Bart helping Giants out here, might have been crossed up.
WTF Bailey?
Wisely picks him up!!!
Whoa Wisely comes through. cbs said that pitch was 97.
wow. This team would be pretty good if the pitching could settle in.
Wisely chips in!
I guess I need to stop complaining about our bullpen.
WISELY Huge RBI single for the lead!!!
Stellar managing today.
The odds of a shutdown inning aren’t as good as they should be, but one can hope.
Pirates beat writer Jason Mackey lamenting Pirates have had 2 decent starts from young guys and taken big leads only to potentially go 0-2. Not too happy w Aroldis Chapman either, whom they are paying $10.5 mil as set up guy. yikes
Aroldis is not aging well.
wow talk about going to your left. what a play by Chapman, again.
You see Rodriguez should be the setup man in the 8th in game now going forward!
Rodriguez!
Dude is legit!!
oh no.
welp. Could be another heartbreaker.
Luciano looks terrible at short.
Bailey guns him down!
Great throw!
yes! Luciano atones. Great tag.
Yes.
Ball game! Tyler Rogers gets it done.
Wow we can sure make it interesting. Good win.
Ha, hell yeah.
What a great comeback, twice!
What a series. Do it again in NY and it’s .500 time.
