Luciano is getting his hitting legs, but you really can’t have a SS that can’t convert routine double play balls. The team is starting to hit as a whole, they can afford a SS who isn’t hitting much, but sorry to say not one who is frequently puckering on late inning DPs…

I think the clock is an issue too. He also gets behind in the count too much. Lindor was sitting dead red after getting ahead 2-0. You can’t do that against big league hitters, especially good ones.

The weird thing is, it’s routine grounders Luciano is choking on. The ball in the 9th was hit hard but was an absolute tailor-made double play ball, especially with Alonso running. Game should’ve ended right there. You have to make that play in Little League let alone MLB. It’s almost like he has the yips or something.
When your glove is turned the wrong way these plays will happen.It’s definitely in his head right now for sure.

I say stick with Luciano and keep working with him. He’s a good hitter. Put a sub in for the 9th as a defensive replacement.

Maybe Zum. and Wisely is here. Luciano doesn’t seem settled on footwork of how to get in proper position on ball, and his glove is wrong. He admitted the ball he misplayed before he had glove at wrong angle.
I’d rather have Ahmed than either Fitz or Schmitt for late game replacement. Let the other 2 play every day in Sac, unless you are going to demote Luciano entirely. which certainly is an option but awfully harsh.
Not sure I trust Ahmed, that throw in Philly is still fresh in my memory.

I just watched from the 8th inning on again and yeah, what a finish and what a stretch of games. Holy crap. The team is showing life after a couple of months of sleepwalking. Still a lot of work to do, but they’ve gone from boring to exciting in a couple of weeks. Crazy few games!
Dodgers lost to Reds, Yanks have hit 4 HRs off Darvish and lead 7-0 at Petco behind Rodon, and DBax down 3-0 to Marlins in 5th.
.500 never sounded so good.

After the Padres lose tonight, the Giants will be tied with them for the last playoff spot. It’s always fun to be in the playoff conversation.
