A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Road Trip Rambles On….

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 8, 2010

Next up, “Sam Lecure”. I do not fear this Sam Lecure. He’s part “Eric Hacker” with a little “Kevin Pucetas” thrown in for taste. Cain deserves a few of these games. After we feast on this fool we face off Judgement Day and find out who are starter will be Wednesday. We know it won’t be Bumgarner who started last night. Does Welly get thrown to the wolves again? Might Iron Head Joe get the call?

This if off track, but anybody else find it strange that today, less than 12,000 voters in Santa Clara could decide the fate of the Niners for the entire fan base in the Bay Area?…

  3. TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on June 8, 2010 at 12:34 pm

I’m kind of blah on the Niners thing. Allow me to offer a cliche. I only go to maybe a game every other year. Unlike baseball or, depending on the seats, basketball, I prefer watching football on TV. So as long as they don’t change the franchise name yadda yadda yadda

The San Francisco 49ers of Santa Clara? Silicon Valley? The Silicon Valley Search Engines playing in Google Stadium? Yeah, who cares.

If anything, Snarkk, measure J is going to get poeple to the polls.

I think the Niners are still just using SC as leverage to get them off their asses in Hunters Point.

    CF Torres
    2B Sanchez
    3B Sandoval
    RF Huff
    SS Uribe
    LF Burrell
    1B Posey
    C Molina
    P Cain

Baggarly notes, as I and others have, that Bochy has resisted batting Bengie 8 bcause he can’t sacrifice with the pitcher. Maybe he figures Matt is good enough to swing away. I dunno, we’ll see.

    Timmy L. (San Francisco)

Lack of walks on Gary Brown overrated?

    Klaw (1:35 PM)

No – concerning. But his main value to me is his glove. I think he should be a plus-plus defender who hits enough to be a solid everyday guy.

  10. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 8, 2010 at 1:11 pm

I guess that’s their best hitting LU, but the OF defense is obviously weak. If Rowand or Nate had shown an ounce of power lately, Benji might be watching Buster catch again tonight, w/ Huff at 1B. But . . . . here we go. Can’t wait to see Burrell and Huff track down the deep drives.

  11. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 1:21 pm

The “Gamer” on this team is Huff n Puff. The dude has been pushed/pulled from 1B to LF to RF, no complaints, played a more than adequate D at first, and he’s hitting around 3bills with some decent clutch hitting and usually good AB approaches…

Keith Law seems like a douche. He has this pompous attitude and acts like he is better than everyone else, when in reality, his stint as an Assistant GM did not bear much success for the Blue Jays. Granted, they play in a very difficult division, but still. He acts like his shit doesn’t stink, he is never wrong and those who disagree with him are slow.

The latest Splash has Schulman reporting that Bum came “unglued” last night in Fresno and got tossed out of the game. Apparently started when Velez dropped (shocking) a can o corn pop fly, and proceeded on from there against some bad calls. Or, maybe they had just told him Wellemeyer was going to stay on the 25 man roster through June. Whatever, I think its OK he blew up — the Giants need some fire in the belly…

  15. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 2:07 pm

I’d bet he went out last night VERY pissed off. He had to think he’d get scratched and called up to the show. Add that Strasburg goes tonight and Leake for the Reds on Thursday… Madison really must have been massively angry and disappointed…

Hey gang! Coming at you from the prize p.c. Thanx again Michael. Local co-op :ISP finally got card for the commo box in my driveway and after a glitch or two and a return by the service rep (they are good at that) i’m online and good to go. Still have much to get used to on Windows 7 OS and working this keyboard in cramped space, but the DSL era begins here now. Go Giants. May Matt the Horse nail em down and may the reinvigorated lineup make it a romp.

  17. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on June 8, 2010 at 2:13 pm

Here’s the MadBum ejection from last night. Check out how Velez comes in and tries to calm Madison down. It was his drpped pop fly that got Madison worked up to begin with. What an ass.

One thing about Strasburg is that he has people in DC for the first time in 6 years really hyped about tonight.

It has an opening night feel and fairly moderate temps will help him
But remember Lincecum’s first start showed some growing pains.

  19. xootsuit's avatar xootsuit said, on June 8, 2010 at 2:17 pm

Bum had to be restrained from attacking the 2B ump over a disputed pickoff call and he threw the game ball into CF before he departed. (Glad he didn’t bean the blue. Wonder if he was mocking Velez in CF? Catch this, asshole.) He was pissed about something. I’d be pissed too, if I had to live stay in Fresno.

But, oh, I forgot: Bum’s such a dainty fragile flower, we really don’t want him in Cinn. getting hammered by the Reds. Let’s let him spend a few more starts in lovely Fresno and then break him easy in the friendly confines of China Basin against some weak team . . . .

Enough with the psychoanalysis. Get him calmed down and on a fast train to SF.

  20. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Nice link DMD. Bum didn’t go off THAT much, but still, it’s cool, I like the attitude. He probably wanted to ring Velez’ neck, but the umps got in the way. Add that to not getting the call up, and the cocktail was fully mixed. I don’t get the continuing Wellemeyer thing. If he pitches in Cincy, then Bonehead better have a hair trigger hook. Otherwise, it’s like putting BP put in charge of blowout prevention…

  21. gianthead's avatar gianthead said, on June 8, 2010 at 2:24 pm

I saw Bum get tossed in that game last year and he was equally fired up. Will be a good personality to add to the rotation…

  22. Cal_Stim25's avatar Cal_Stim25 said, on June 8, 2010 at 2:38 pm

Bum’s got a mean streak. I saw him in San Jose barking at some outfielder who took exception to something Bum was doing. Bum isn’t a little guy and he wasn’t backing down. I like that.

  23. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 8, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Eugenio is apparently still making rookie mistakes at Fresno–see Bum’s ire last night. Next spring, when teams break camp, where will Velez be?

    1. At ATT as a Giants’ utility OFer.
    2. Dropping pop flies with the AAA squad of another organizaton.

  25. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on June 8, 2010 at 2:49 pm

If Velezes’ drop precipitated the outburst, it’s fucking bush league… and inferring that Bumgarner’s reaction is justifiable would be bullshit. Totally unacceptable and he’d better have made amends with Eugenio if that was the case…
