A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Buzzkill Game

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 18, 2010

That one just sucked. Uribe had easily his worst game as a Giant and one of the worst single performances of a Giant this year. He only got saddled with 1 error but he bungled at least 4 plays and did nothing at the plate….

I have to admit, I like Randy Wolf– definitely a guy you’d want on your team. Back in July he gave up something like 15 runs in 5 innings. You wonder how a manager lets a guy stay in that long but it turns out that Wolf volunteered to stay out there to save their bullpen that was destroyed the night before. He’s been pretty reliable since then and outstanding in his last 2 starts. Tip your cap and move on…….

I didn’t look at the pitching match ups when I said we could easily sweep these guys. Gallardo goes today, always a tough pitcher. We’ve had our moments against him though….

And then Sunday looms. God’s day. You’re supposed to rest on that day, right? I don’t think God is gonna be too happy to see Zito working on Sunday. I forsee a severe punishment in the offing…….

I think you guys were talking earlier in the week about NL manager of the year…I would have thought three weeks ago that Bud Black would easily get it. If the Rockies make the playoffs or Atlanta, I could just see the East Coast media playing favorites.

Dusty Baker will certainly get some votes, but if I had a vote right now, I think I do vote Bochy..and I have been riding his ass for 4 years…

  3. stixwiz's avatar stixwiz said, on September 18, 2010 at 7:42 pm

What i don’t endorse is Bochy’s hunch of batting Uribe second tonight. Hell, this morning i was calling for him to sit as he’s been dragging lately, both at the bat, and even more so in the field. C’mon. RentMan would be no worse at SS. Also, A Panda here in the U.S. just gave birth today. As for batting for Lincecum, it was good for that run, getting SF into the game. Bullpen has been reliable in September and the arms are many and pretty loose. Also, now both Timmy and Madi are worked but not drained. Holding the Brewers in range depends on how good a judge and juggler Bochy happens to be tonight.

Kat and FatHeads , your need to blame Panda has blurred your vision. He was not a step from the bag, he would have had to backtrack and then had no chance at the plate or anywhere else. Tim gave up 4 hits-THAT is why they gave up two.

you are absolutely right TF I think it was mostly the bat that broke that play
tim was looking strong; all things considered he would be out there getting outs, but I do not disagree with what happened, just pissed

Bullshit Twin.He was even with the bag 2 steps away. There was no backtracking to get back to the bag.And you have a fat slug Fielder who wasn’t running hard.Couldn’t have been an easier play.

  9. giant head's avatar giant head said, on September 18, 2010 at 7:53 pm

I dont want to argue with you Twin, but I think he was right at the bag when he grabbed it with the replay I saw but I did not tape the game. If you watch it on replay, be interesting to get your perspective if he did get in front of the bag when he picked it up…

And BTW, I get the slur you have been trying to direct my way of late..I think that is a cheap shot, but I will let Flav/or the Big Giggity as he is now know known (Peace Be Unto Him) be the judge of personal attacks…

there’s no doubt there is ample blame to go around. And i agree, this has nothing to do with Pablo. Kuip called it, at this point in the year your offense can’t be sucking dick like this. And we’ve been smoking massive pole all month. Our outstanding pitching has masked it but the bats are flying one flap down. That don’t work if you’re a fucking bat……..

Finally in the race and our hitters have rolled over worse than the Dodgers.

2 runs or less in 6 of last 8 games. We suck so bad at the plate right now that every player seems an easy out except Posey. Even Huff looks horrible now.

My buddy and I were talking …Would you swap our whole team for the Rockies? Same record, better Giant pitching etc, but after 4 years of this type of offense… Would any other team pinch hit for their ace in a 2-0 game in the 5th? (Disgraceful, and that is no slam on Bochy). Their games are so much more fun to dream about….

Agree the blame for the loss goes to the offense. By the way, since a 21-30 start, Brewers have played .500. So they’re not as bad as written off. Anyway, Dennis don’t know what you heard from JT, but I thought he made two good points: one, it does affect hitters if there’s a lot of movement in the order of the lineup/they can’t expect the same person behind them, because they get pitched differently. And two, in discussing the whether Panda should throw home, he said Panda is not playing with a lot of confidence right now–meaning it affects his decision-making.

it was 0-0 and two outs and Timmy let a bloop hit get in for two runs..perfectly right move to take him out for a pinch hitter.

Even though Torres ahd been tanking a bit (but maybe the appendix was affecting him?), we see what limitations we have offensively with him not in there…may be a further reflection he is indeed the mvp on the team…

We got hosed regardless. Ford should have been pinch running for Huff at first and no outs. I like our odds even with the shitty offense tonight to get that tying run in.
