Who’s Are MVP (So Far)?

They were kicking this around with Hank Diddy on KNBR this morning. He went with Crawford and while I think that’s a pretty pedestrian pick, it’s got merit. For me, it’s Heston, hands down. I don’t even want to think about who we would have trotted out there every fifth day if it weren’t for that dude. Aoki should get some votes. Buster, too. Panik?

Who am I missing?

    Considering the injuries (Aoiki/Pence) and general suckitude of regulars (Pagan) or players intended to be regulars (McDP) I think Belt has been pretty valuable so far. Forced to make an honest decision though it is pretty close between Duffy & Heston. I’ll go with Duffy.

I’d say a strong case could be made for Vogie. But, the better choice is Heston.

Craw, because this level of production wasn’t expected and gave the team an early jolt of offense when it needed it most. That and his stellar defense.

I’m going with The Duffman. This kid has really stepped up … fielding a new position – and a rook nonetheless! I don’t have any facts & figures in front of me, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to recall he’s been integral in pulling quite a few games back from the brink with his bat, and defensively he has been pretty damn good. Maybe McDP should get some kinda award for being such a dismal fuckwad, affording us the opportunity to find out what a diamond in the ruff we have in The Duffman … damn shame Boch didn’t bench McDP a week or so earlier … If that had happened, we’d surely be in first place now.

In other news … Cain acquitted himself quite well last night. And so did I! … it was $2 big beer nite – need I say more? Funny, more people roaming the concourse than in the stands. I didn’t get to my seat until the 4th. Temp at field level at first pitch must have been about 103. Cain seemed to be sucking wind early, giving up a couple of walks in the 2nd but worked a quick 3rd, labored again in the 4th giving up a single, homer (J. Singleton (16)), single. He worked 5.2 inns, 4Ks, 2BB, lowered his era to 4.02 from 4.35 on 98 pitches. I’d say he is ready to come home.

MVP..Have to go Heston, pitching staff besides Bum, was in shambles early on and he really solidified it stepping right in and pitching well..

  Whether the injury was for real or phantom, Affeldt’s performance yesterday was one for the books. It may have been the single worst appearance by any Giants pitcher this season. Even if Broadway shows only mediocre work, it still will be head and shoulders above Affeldt’s attempts this year.

I agree about Posey at 1B–he picked Duffy’s short hop throw nicely (good stab by Duffy to begin with). htf did Posey get so competent at 1B? Guess we all know the basic answers there. Hudson was strong tonight through 5. Then. . . . And we have no starting OFs. The next couple of week are gonna be rough.

Well Snarkk, I was thinking of you on this one..
So supposedly if Pagan is just alittle banged-up, the Giants will wait him out and not DL( possibly 5 games, ahh fuck call it a week) they would go forward with a 3 man bench, and yes McDP is one of them along with Arias, and whoever?how exciting is that to play short- handed with that scenario!!

Hudson needs to go bye, bye. I have zero confidence in Peavy’s ability to pitch effectively anymore, but he needs to get a shot. And when the fuck is Cain coming back? We’ve waited long enough. Hudson, Lincecum, to the DL, bench, bullpen, wherever, just out of the rotation.

LJ, I’m with you on Peavy, but of course with about $20m invested in him this year and next, they will give him every opportunity to pay off their investment, as well they should. I would just bet he won’t be very effective and might well be *done*. Not being negative, just being realistic. But hopefully, he will do what he did last year when he joined the team at the deadline. Trouble is, the bullpen, usually our strength, has seemed to struggle recently. Bochy really must work his magic, but he’s going to need better pieces to play. Sabevans, front and center….

  he’ll be day to day, to deal with some swelling, x rays negative yesterday and mri this afternoon’ll tell us more but for now we’re thinking positive and in the meantime we need to get some runners on base and score some runs, that’ll be key, and our starters will have to take on a load now that our bullpen is gassed, but we’re feelin good overall.
