Phuckin’ Phillies @ The Big Phone
Another day, another W. This is what the Dubs season felt like. Wins piling on top of wins with the fans starting to become a little immune to how awesome a win is. We need to appreciate these now, there will be darker days ahead.
Tonight, the Phillies come to town and they stink. They can’t hit and their pitchers give up gobs of bombs. How will that translate into this weekend series? It’s baseball, anything can happen. I don’t think we’re as good as our record. It doesn’t make sense that we can lose some of our best players and we start winning MORE. But whatever, enjoy the ride. Peavy at home as been a pretty good ride. Peavy anywhere has been a surprising good thing.
Ranking our starters in terms of reliability you’d probably have to go Bum, Cueto, Peavy, Smarge and then Suarez who is just a cheaper version of Petit who, frankly, I’d still rather have on the team…..
Belt is an All-Star this season so far. I hope he gets picked for it. He should.
Agree, Zume. Belt is in 2nd with 839k votes (about 150k more than Goldylocks). Rizzo running away with it at 2.2 mil.
Man…I just am not digging the way Span plays CF. Fuck…
Span should’ve had that one. That’s the second time in a week he got turned around. The first time he got lucky. There should be 2 outs.
Pagan was a good soldier and made no waves about moving to a corner. I say fuck it, and let him have a shot at CF. Span does have some starts playing the corners (100 in RF and 45 in LF).
.
I saw, so I deleted mine to keep the thread pretty…
Strange letting Osich pitch to the righthander there.
Galvis can put one in the water. Better not give in with a 3 run lead…
Rare mismanagement from Bochy.
Gearrin’s aiming…
you gotta be kidding me. Bourjois sucks.
Big exhale.
*whew*
Is it ok to breath?
I still can’t believe Bochy let Osich pitch to that righthander. Other than maybe he wanted to get Osich more experience in a situation like that.
Zume – I am sure if you had the opportunity to ask, he would provide some type of reason. And maybe even one that you still would not agree with, but it is hard to argue with the dude’s overall success. He gets an occasional pass in my book.
Philly radio announcer right before Belt’s bases-clearing double: “The Giants are a Major League-best .397 with the bases loaded, however, Belt is 1 for 6.” Ooops.
lqtm…that’s fucking awesome.
Tough ump.
I think i would be in tears from that…
Zumiee: Before coming back to the Flap to read the comments, my thoughts were much like yours that Bochy had gone one bridge too far in overmanaging his mix n’ match bullies. Sometimes that strategy works just fine. That inning we were fortunate that they only plated two.
I just tuned in … Are my eyes deceiving me or did Bochy change pitchers in the middle of Godell’s at bat?
He did.
Hold on to your hats. Put your seatbelt on.
Casilla’s been much better since he gave birth…
That had to be something to see.
Watching Casilla close out a game is probably a lot like giving birth.
Yeah, that has to be one hell of a relief…
I think Bochy had a gut feeling about leaving Osich in. When it got to 2-1 he had another gut feeling…oops!
OK boys, here we go. Strap it on…
LOOGY done good.
I’m okay with leaving Osich in, it’s the bringing Lopez in to start the 9th that had me worried. Worked out this time.
It’s great, ain’t it? Edge of your seats baseball, against a lousy team, in June, knowing LA already lost. This team is keeping us interested just about every game…..
Nail on the head. It was fun watching the Dodgers lose earlier. This would be the perfect capper.
Absolutely!
Wow!
Good call, ump!
Early Christmas
MLB Gameday is calling Casilla’s off speed pitch a knuckle curve. Is that really what he’s throwing?
I don’t think so.
Yeah, I didn’t think so either, but it sounds cool….
Damn, how was that NOT a strike in relation the the strike-out pitch?!
With that herky-jerky motion, Casilla just never was going to be a pinpoint control guy.
It gets pretty ridiculous, though.
Ok, I take it back, maybe edge of your seats baseball against a lousy team in June ain’t all that great…..
This dude has nothing tonight.
Worst-hitting team in baseball, and these guys don’t want to throw strikes.
wtf
They absolutely canNOT allow this one to slip away….
I hate it when Kruk makes excuses for a pitcher, fuck the fact he has been out there third day in a row!!
Tortuous…flashback to 2010…
Wow! Fuck Yeah!

ain’t over yet
Holy shit! It stands!
Great play by Pena!
Just another three-hour-plus, six-pitcher, one-run victory.
lulz 🙂 Had it all the way, Mac. Wow, you still up?
Hell yeah, I just got home a little while ago.
Weeee Doggies Boys! That was way too close for comfort…
Talk about a high-wire act, that was Philippe Petit at the WTC.
All of that literally couldn’t have been closer. 🙂
Santiago “Two-Pack” Casilla.
Some people probably STARTED smoking for the first time during that inning!
LMAO…no kidding!
unHoly TORTURE Batman! Fuck that was close … !!!!
Casilla: A hungry seagull’s worst nightmare…
lulz
lol
Shit, I’m pouring myself a stiff Moscow Mule and hitting the hot tub! Whew…
Will miss tomorrow’s game (may follow on LameDay)…we will be in North Shore Lake Tahoe to see a band I have wanted to see for some time: Trampled by Turtles. In a small casino to boot. Should be a kick-ass show!
Flan Man on the postgame. Was so fun seeing him and his band last weekend, and to get to meet and chat with him. He is one damned cool dude.
Have a great time at the show, Chi!
I wonder what the record for one run victories is … are we even in the vicinity? We gotta be getting close … Damn, what a weird season!
Good thing Flappers and other Giants fans are not pitching for the team. It is very important for a pitcher to retain his fingernails.
That was tough to watch. It would be interesting to know what the average spike in blood pressure was for all Flappers.
I think the Giants will swing a multi-player deal that brings back a veteran closer (Huston Street?) and possibly more…
Andrew Miller! 🙂
I’m sitting on the back porch in a reclining lawn chair, enjoying the cool breeze. The heat of the Valley day has finally gone. Drinking ice tea. The Giants with a 7 game lead. Great evening.
Nice…..
Sounds awesome, Zume. Just got out of the hot tub after a Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy (decided a Moscow Mule was too much work after that game!). Nice breeze coming up the face of the ridge…loving it. Seven games…let’s make it twelve…
G’Night Flap Universe. Kick ass band, the Avett Brothers, on the Late Show tonight.
G’Night, Chi, another awesome win tonight.
Geez, I was at the game last night. Had the kids with me so I missed a lot of it. What a nailbiter. I don’t why I never realized how hard Osich threw. Every pitch over 95 there is some company that donates to Jr. Giants and they had something pop up on the scoreboard, that’s what dialed me in. Anyway, the 9th was a little too interesting for my taste, but I’m glad Casilla was able to get a B-Weezy type victory.
