A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

That giant ass……

A stance on the mound so wide he could ride 2 fine steeds at once….

The meticulously oiled mustache….

And that herky jerky two pump chump wind up…….

Everything about that guy I want to go away.

And it happened again. The pitiful A’s who are 16.5 games out of first place came into our park and smacked us around.

I could easily see the A’s sweeping us.

The Giants have coughed up the lead a bunch of times in the 8th and 9th this season. We were hoping the bullpen would be locked in by now, and it’s not. No doubt, the Sabean/Evans duo is looking around MLB for trade possibilities.

The worse thing about these last two games is my sister is an As fan and tomorrow her FB page will be littered with the As ownage of Bay Area baseball.
She loved the throwback/retro pitcher look last night

A couple of years ago, Casilla flamed out against the A’s over in Oakland, and he was done as closer after that. I wonder if this performance yields a similar result…

Good on you, Parker! You deserve more playing time. That on-base % has been real good lately.

Seems SF’s pen always did well when the relievers knew their roles: 1 long man, 1 middle range guy, a left/righty combo for the 7th, another for the 8th, and a reliable closer. A well-oiled bullpen machine, that’s what they used to have. The way Bochy is using these guys willy-nilly (whatever that means) indicates to me he’s not comfortable with who they’ve got to slot them into *regular* roles, and they’re not getting the job done ad hoc. Affeldt retired and Romo has been out, but that doesn’t seem like enough to have taken the pen from a strength to a huge weakness.

Can we send 3-4 of the relievers to Sactown and get some fresh arms for the rematch in OAK???

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on June 28, 2016 at 11:09 pm

      There’s not much in Sac-town, reliever-wise. Re-treads like Broadway.

Belt and Posey seemed too over-eager to tie the game. Just keep the conga-line going.

  34. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on June 28, 2016 at 11:12 pm

Well, that game got farted away.
It wasn’t the whole bullpen. Strickland and Law did well. They just faced so few batters. And for some reason Lopez had to run a gauntlet of righthanders. And Casilla….well, that dude is played out.

The Giants decided to breathe some hope into the Dodgers.
Maybe both those teams will be limping to the finish line, trying to field healthy rosters.

Giants were up 4-1 on another suitable start by Suarez when all the day’s mowing and such got to me and i hit the sack. Probably the right move when you look at the results. Was Bochy asleep at the switch? Did he discount the A’s? Bad bullpen management. Lopez is toast. Osich at this point is the better lefty. Still don’t completely trust him, but he is not fulminate of mercury when confronted with a RHB. Casilla has lost his mojo. He no longer seems to be able to deal with adversity ~~and that is the essential quality in a closer.

Giants probably will hafta pick up at least one arm via the trade route ~ probably before the Break, the way things are going. There is one arm in the pipeline who might be ready for a jump. Mentioned him before as he went weeks without giving up a single earned run. Currently he sports a pretty OK 0.77 ERA and a 1-1 WL record. He’s been a one inning hurler, going 35 innings in 35 games. He’s given up 25 hits and 10 walks over those frames vs 24 strikeouts. Used as a closer he has saved 10 games. Name is Tyler Rogers. We may be hearing about him soon.

    • Carstie Clausen's avatar Carstie Clausen said, on June 29, 2016 at 6:57 am

Forgot to note that Rogers is a slightly built RHP, 25 years old and was a round 10 pick in 2013. The Richmond reliever has a career ERA of 1.79, with a WHIP of 1.06. What’s not to like?

What a bizarre disaster of a game. You sure it wasn’t in Chicago with the wind blowing out? Or Denver, anytime? Yoikes. Let’s hope it was just one back-to-reality game in a WS-winning campaign that included going 31-9. Loo was on fiyuh. 10:05, 10:41, etc. The bullpen couldn’t put out a match.
