That giant ass……

A stance on the mound so wide he could ride 2 fine steeds at once….

The meticulously oiled mustache….

And that herky jerky two pump chump wind up…….

Everything about that guy I want to go away.

And it happened again. The pitiful A’s who are 16.5 games out of first place came into our park and smacked us around.

I could easily see the A’s sweeping us.

Yeah I’ve never been one for the magic/sorcery type sci fi.

    Yeah baby! Thank youBrandon!

That being said, g 0 t is very well done. Another extremely well-written show from HBO.

    Oh fuck. I’d be dead.

I’ll admit, when that guy comes in these days, I start worrying…

Breaking Bad, absolutely the best. The Wire, I just couldn’t get into. I’d rank 24 and Shameless (my most recent favorite, just finished watching Season 6) in my top 3. Six Feet Under and Weeds as well. Game of Thrones is fun viewing, but I also would not rank it as “must see TV”. Unless Dany and her dragons are featured…. 🙂 This season’s finale was fun, though: Jon Snow takes over the North, F-ing Ceirsee or whatever takes over the South, Dany is on her way for what will surely be an epic battle at Westeros, and loving Sansa and Arya Stark back in the picture. And this commercial interruption was brought to you by the Giants reasserting themselves, thank you very much.

    • snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:43 pm

      Loved “Six Feet Under”.
Great theme music to begin show.
Great characters, great writing. Quirky to the max, but believable with fine acting.
I loved the young sister’s character played by Lauren Ambrose. I wonder if she has gone onto more roles? Sometimes the mother would utter a line that made me just suddenly bust out laughing, it was so outrageous — but fit her character.
Epic final show, one of the best ever show-concluding episodes…

  6. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:42 pm

Yeah Paul, I tried the Wire as well and didn’t get it. Liked 6 feet under for a while. Dexter of course. They all had top notch writing. Dexter was creepy as fuck.

    • gianthead said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:53 pm

I literally just finished the Wire last week finally and with you both that it was just ehhh.

But Paul, I have Breaking Bad as best basic cable show ever. Mr. ROBOT season one is a very close second. Unbelievable show last year. But Thrones is just at a different level. I would never rewatch a tv episode ever and have already watched the Thrones finale again and it is only Tuesday. I binged on Dexter a couple of years ago and just couldn’t stop watching. Every time my wife walked in when I had the tv on I had a Dexter episode on…she must think I am disturbed. The music interlude in Dexter is still the best.

I’ve never heard anyone rave about Shameless before. Will check it out when I put Showtime back in my lineup and swap out HBO for a couple of months until Thrones is back…

My quick top 10 drama / semi-drama shows. I’m not saying they are all the best quality, some were guilty pleasures:

    Breaking Bad
    Sopranos
    X-Files
    Six Feet Under
    The Shield
    Hill Street Blues
    Miami Vice
    St. Elsewhere
    Northern Exposure
    NYPD Blue
    ER
    Hon mention: White Shadow

    • gianthead said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:56 pm

I have Lost in my Top 5…and with you on X Files….Rome is also a top fav for me…what got me back into HBO…

      • snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:59 pm

Mid to late X-files before it got off the rails a bit, I would tune in just to see Gillian Anderson, she was looking mighty awesome. She’s a quirky woman in real life, but hubba bubba late in that show run. I loved the episode where somehow she took some drug or was somehow affected by some mysterious power to lose most of her inhibitions — and came on to Muldur in a big way. Hilarious…

    • snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:56 pm

i’ve not yet seen Wire or Thrones…

      • gianthead said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:58 pm

And great call on White Shadow…my favorite show growing up. I’ve had my oldest son watch a bunch of it as well…

    • djloo27 said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:01 pm

I loved White Shadow, but they were a flawed team. Aside from Coolidge, they had no size. They also couldn’t shoot for shit. Wardell Stone was super-talented but under utilized IMO…

    The Wire,
    Treme,,
    Sopranos,
    Deadwood, and
    Dexter.

Lagniappe – Anthony Bourdain, Parts Unknown.

  12. zumiee said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:03 pm

For dramas, off the top of my head:
    Breaking Bad
    The Wire
    Hell On Wheels
    Fringe
    Better Call Saul
    Deadwood
    Justified

A type of show that I’ve never gotten into are all the forensic shows like CSI and whatever. There’s a zillion of them, and I find them really unpleasant.

  13. Paul Sorensen said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:05 pm

I like Shameless because I’m not easily surprised by a show or film, but Shameless is the one show that is guaranteed, at least once an episode, to stun me to the point where my mouth drops and I just stare at the screen and think, “ohmygod, I can’t believe that just happened”… 🙂 William H. Macy is always good, all the characters are whacko but you care about them. That’s why I never got into the Wire, just didn’t really care about the characters. A couple of years back during an extremely isolated and boring stint in China, I streamed all seasons of 24, and it reminded me how good it really was. IMO. Always wished I could *Be Like Jack*.. haha. Breaking Bad? I’m now binge watching the whole thing again for the 3rd time. It still surprises me. Tom, good call on ER, I never missed an episode its first couple of years. And I can always watch re-runs of Law & Order… Geez, reading all this, I’m beginning to think I need to get a life…

And I just turned over to CNN as I was catching up with the terrorist bombing at the Istanbul Airport. I was there almost exactly 6 years ago, June 30th 2010, and that was the same exit at departures and same parking garage where it looks like two of the bombs went off. I have a ton of relatives in Istanbul but not likely anyone would have been at the International airport at that time of night…thankfully. so I missed the first two batters and the frickin walks….

I don’t think the wheels are completely about to fall off, but it’s looking like this team needs a pit stop to tighten the lug nuts. All-Star break, maybe.

    • snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:22 pm

The Pen is the most obvious weakness. Sabean and Evans need to get real with it. Romo is due back, but we’ll see about him. Any Pen that gives up five runs late, in one frame, is not very good…

Now I’m getting worked up about that 8th inning last night all over again. Stratton batting with the bases loaded and none out. Bochy just gave up. Maybe he’s not feeling well. Seriously.

How did we piss this lead away and this team was smoking until last night. Javy Lopez finished??? Why I personally think Andrew Miller may be the most important potential pickup this trade season between us and the Cubs..

  43. snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:25 pm

Bochy didn’t have a righty ready to counter after Span made that great grab on that line shot against Lopez. So, he rolled dice on Slivovitz or whatever that righty’s name is, and Bochy got reamed with being unprepared. If this were NYCity, Bochy’d have some ‘splainin’ to do post-game, if they lose it…

Let the As have their 5 minutes of giddy. They suck balls and they play in the worst shit-hole in the majors. Their owners have done nothing but alienate their meager fan base to near zero while the GM trades every valuable player in existence.

Fuck ’em sideways. This is what they will hang their season on as they drift to 72-90.

    • Lurker John said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:28 pm

    • snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:31 pm

Bochy had to figure melvin would burn the lefty hitter for a first righty PHitter. After he scorched one that Spann saved, Bochy should have brought in a righty, IMO. You cannot let two righties hit consecutively against Lopez with multiple dudes on the bags…

  75. Paul Sorensen said, on June 28, 2016 at 11:00 pm

Seems SF’s pen always did well when the relievers knew their roles: 1 long man, 1 middle range guy, a left/righty combo for the 7th, another for the 8th, and a reliable closer. A well-oiled bullpen machine, that’s what they used to have. The way Bochy is using these guys willy-nilly (whatever that means) indicates to me he’s not comfortable with who they’ve got to slot them into *regular* roles, and they’re not getting the job done ad hoc. Affeldt retired and Romo has been out, but that doesn’t seem like enough to have taken the pen from a strength to a huge weakness.

Paul, a lot of this has to do with guys only going 5 and Boch using guys to cover that.

Can we send 3-4 of the relievers to Sactown and get some fresh arms for the rematch in OAK???

      There’s not much in Sac-town, reliever-wise. Re-treads like Broadway.

Belt and Posey seemed too over-eager to tie the game. Just keep the conga-line going.

    Plus we got no Petit.

    Melt down…

Well, that game got farted away.
It wasn’t the whole bullpen. Strickland and Law did well. They just faced so few batters. And for some reason Lopez had to run a gauntlet of righthanders. And Casilla….well, that dude is played out.

Time to bring in the flying squirrels.

The Giants decided to breathe some hope into the Dodgers.
Maybe both those teams will be limping to the finish line, trying to field healthy rosters.

Giants were up 4-1 on another suitable start by Suarez when all the day’s mowing and such got to me and i hit the sack. Probably the right move when you look at the results. Was Bochy asleep at the switch? Did he discount the A’s? Bad bullpen management. Lopez is toast. Osich at this point is the better lefty. Still don’t completely trust him, but he is not fulminate of mercury when confronted with a RHB. Casilla has lost his mojo. He no longer seems to be able to deal with adversity ~~and that is the essential quality in a closer.

Giants probably will hafta pick up at least one arm via the trade route ~ probably before the Break, the way things are going. There is one arm in the pipeline who might be ready for a jump. Mentioned him before as he went weeks without giving up a single earned run. Currently he sports a pretty OK 0.77 ERA and a 1-1 WL record. He’s been a one inning hurler, going 35 innings in 35 games. He’s given up 25 hits and 10 walks over those frames vs 24 strikeouts. Used as a closer he has saved 10 games. Name is Tyler Rogers. We may be hearing about him soon.

Forgot to note that Rogers is a slightly built RHP, 25 years old and was a round 10 pick in 2013. The Richmond reliever has a career ERA of 1.79, with a WHIP of 1.06. What’s not to like?

Fuck those cocksucker A’s. I hope we NEVER play their sorry asses again! Well, I take that back. I hope we go into their house today and tomorrow and kick the ever loving dog shit outta them! PFFFTTT…

What a bizarre disaster of a game. You sure it wasn’t in Chicago with the wind blowing out? Or Denver, anytime? Yoikes. Let’s hope it was just one back-to-reality game in a WS-winning campaign that included going 31-9. Loo was on fiyuh. 10:05, 10:41, etc. The bullpen couldn’t put out a match.
