A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

That giant ass……

A stance on the mound so wide he could ride 2 fine steeds at once….

The meticulously oiled mustache….

And that herky jerky two pump chump wind up…….

Everything about that guy I want to go away.

And it happened again. The pitiful A’s who are 16.5 games out of first place came into our park and smacked us around.

I could easily see the A’s sweeping us.

The Bay Area has been very very good to the Kuipers. Duane was a part time scrub on 3 lousy Giant teams and he parlayed that into his great gig with the Giants and sweet jobs for his brothers in MLB as well.

Albert Suarez is this year’s Chris Ray. I have a playoff t-shirt from 2010 that lists the roster. Even then, I’d be like, Chris Who? [went 3-0 if you’re wondering]

    • pawliekokonuts's avatar pawliekokonuts said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:12 pm

I forgot that Chris Ray was like Bengie Molina, could’ve gotten a ring no matter who won the WS. And I also didn’t realize Molina’s career was over in 2010. Hey, do you blame me for the digression? Game turned into a CF.

I sometimes wonder if HRs get Span’s and Panik’s swings a little out of whack. They start elevating their swings too much and get too many fly outs. I always dig it when they do hit an HR, but maybe there’s a price to be paid for those HRs. I don’t know. I could be totally wrong.

Ahhh I don’t quite know what just happened there that inning…they had Vogt 0-2 and they threw 2 waste pitches and then one right down the middle..wtf???

All you need to know Flav about Game of Thrones is that it is probably thr best show ever made for television. The finale this week was like watching a mini-movie. The quality of the battle scenes the week before have never been scene on tv before. The shot of the horses charging across the battlefield are as good cinematographically as any Oscar winning movie.

And I am with Lurker (I think it was John who said it) on the fantasy aspect of the show/books, I kind of gloss over those parts in the book even though I like the Tolkien fantasy tradition. But they have had to stretch out the show in order to keep up where the books have been and now are past the last book as those into the show know. So to get 10 episodes in per year with all the directions the books go in, there is a bit of time wasted on the numerous side stories.

The other aspect of the show that is mesmerizing is that it almost always does the exact opposite of what you expect from traditional story telling. And as a viewer/reader you really enjoy watching the evil in people. It is like when I was a kid watching wrestling on a Saturday morning, I always loved the bad guys and hated the good guys…

Breaking Bad, absolutely the best. The Wire, I just couldn’t get into. I’d rank 24 and Shameless (my most recent favorite, just finished watching Season 6) in my top 3. Six Feet Under and Weeds as well. Game of Thrones is fun viewing, but I also would not rank it as “must see TV”. Unless Dany and her dragons are featured…. 🙂 This season’s finale was fun, though: Jon Snow takes over the North, F-ing Ceirsee or whatever takes over the South, Dany is on her way for what will surely be an epic battle at Westeros, and loving Sansa and Arya Stark back in the picture. And this commercial interruption was brought to you by the Giants reasserting themselves, thank you very much.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:43 pm

      Loved “Six Feet Under”.
Great theme music to begin show.
Great characters, great writing. Quirky to the max, but believable with fine acting.
I loved the young sister’s character played by Lauren Ambrose. I wonder if she has gone onto more roles? Sometimes the mother would utter a line that made me just suddenly bust out laughing, it was so outrageous — but fit her character.
Epic final show, one of the best ever show-concluding episodes…

  31. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:42 pm

Yeah Paul, I tried the Wire as well and didn’t get it. Liked 6 feet under for a while. Dexter of course. They all had top notch writing. Dexter was creepy as fuck.

    • gianthead's avatar gianthead said, on June 28, 2016 at 9:53 pm

I literally just finished the Wire last week finally and with you both that it was just ehhh.

But Paul, I have Breaking Bad as best basic cable show ever. Mr. ROBOT season one is a very close second. Unbelievable show last year. But Thrones is just at a different level. I would never rewatch a tv episode ever and have already watched the Thrones finale again and it is only Tuesday. I binged on Dexter a couple of years ago and just couldn’t stop watching. Every time my wife walked in when I had the tv on I had a Dexter episode on…she must think I am disturbed. The music interlude in Dexter is still the best.

I’ve never heard anyone rave about Shameless before. Will check it out when I put Showtime back in my lineup and swap out HBO for a couple of months until Thrones is back…

Mid to late X-files before it got off the rails a bit, I would tune in just to see Gillian Anderson, she was looking mighty awesome. She’s a quirky woman in real life, but hubba bubba late in that show run. I loved the episode where somehow she took some drug or was somehow affected by some mysterious power to lose most of her inhibitions — and came on to Muldur in a big way. Hilarious…

I like Shameless because I’m not easily surprised by a show or film, but Shameless is the one show that is guaranteed, at least once an episode, to stun me to the point where my mouth drops and I just stare at the screen and think, “ohmygod, I can’t believe that just happened”… 🙂 William H. Macy is always good, all the characters are whacko but you care about them. That’s why I never got into the Wire, just didn’t really care about the characters. A couple of years back during an extremely isolated and boring stint in China, I streamed all seasons of 24, and it reminded me how good it really was. IMO. Always wished I could *Be Like Jack*.. haha. Breaking Bad? I’m now binge watching the whole thing again for the 3rd time. It still surprises me. Tom, good call on ER, I never missed an episode its first couple of years. And I can always watch re-runs of Law & Order… Geez, reading all this, I’m beginning to think I need to get a life…

Snarkk, I liked the Mini – X Files they ran this year…and is it me or did Gillian Anderson not look really good????

Gillian has always looked good and the new mini series was no exception.

Well, I’d let her give me an examination…

How did we piss this lead away and this team was smoking until last night. Javy Lopez finished??? Why I personally think Andrew Miller may be the most important potential pickup this trade season between us and the Cubs..

Bochy didn’t have a righty ready to counter after Span made that great grab on that line shot against Lopez. So, he rolled dice on Slivovitz or whatever that righty’s name is, and Bochy got reamed with being unprepared. If this were NYCity, Bochy’d have some ‘splainin’ to do post-game, if they lose it…

    Fucking ugly 2 games.

Let the As have their 5 minutes of giddy. They suck balls and they play in the worst shit-hole in the majors. Their owners have done nothing but alienate their meager fan base to near zero while the GM trades every valuable player in existence.

Fuck ’em sideways. This is what they will hang their season on as they drift to 72-90.

not much consolation when you’re getting smoked

WTF was Lopez doing in there for the last two batters.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:31 pm

Bochy had to figure melvin would burn the lefty hitter for a first righty PHitter. After he scorched one that Spann saved, Bochy should have brought in a righty, IMO. You cannot let two righties hit consecutively against Lopez with multiple dudes on the bags…

Bringing Law in was the easy obvious choice, but….he didn’t have Law warming up, for some reason.

A’s batters hit ropes and bombs in the 8th. Giants answer with a Belt dribbler and a Posey whiff.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:30 pm

It seems like every mistake-pitch by the Giants is getting crushed these days.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:32 pm

Posey’s stats aren’t bad, but his production just seems continuously underwhelming, especially at $20 million per year…

Lopez has given up 13 hits and 10 walks in 12.1 innings in his 35 appearances. 9 runs alowed in 12 innings??? Whip close to 2 is awful.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:32 pm

What hurts is, even after the 3-run HR, he gave up ANOTHER run.

      • Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on June 28, 2016 at 10:39 pm

Yep, now that extra run could end up the difference.
