Bum’s Bat
With one swing from a mighty man, a series worth of frustration was washed away. What if Burns catches that ball? Eh, never mind. Let’s just revel in the glory of a win against a very average team.
Now we travel to Arizona for a match with the dude who’s first name is a girl. With the best VMI on the board this evening I expect us to smack him around.
I’m beginning my Summer foray to Sun Valley today so I will be around and will change the threads but it might be a little sporadic till I get there. With the El Dorado poker room in between here and there, it could be a while……
Overall, a good job by the Giants’ ace last night, as he got his ninth win.
I find it interesting that all the division-leaders have momentarily opened up some space. The smallest lead is in the AL East, where the Orioles lead by five games.
VMI … ?
Ahhh .. Thanks Google! …Vantage Mobility International : wait, is this about wheelchair accessibility? Are we that injured?
Virginia Military Institute? … hmmm, I don’t think so …
This is unintentionally hilarious BB. Good one.
Sporad at Sun Valley all you like, Flav. You are providing a wonderful service with the Flap.
Awfully nice to have Paul Bunyan on our side. Noticed the breadth of that man’s shoulders in a photo last night. Isn’t that about the same span as the Golden Gate Bridge? Meanwhile Cueto should emerge outta Phoenix this night wearing a new pair of Snakeskin boots.
That slow to develop but highly deserved smackdown of the A-Ho’s last night brought the Giants to that 50 win mark at exactly the halfway point of the season. Maintaining that pace would make for a 100-62 run. That sure would be nice. Right now it seems a bit iffy, but those wounded warriors should be returning and if more don’t get knocked around along the way a hundred wins is not outta the picture.
Ah HA! Got it .. Visual Memor index … This is a fantasy baseball tool you are referring to!
,
It’s been a lost season for the D-Backs, and now Greinke has oblique pain. It’s impossible to feel sorry for them, though, because LaRussa is running things there.
The D-Backs are always a dangerous team in their home park; the Giants need to keep last night’s good mojo on offense going.
I posted this comment in the Denver Post yesterday:
“Well, you might be surprised by this prediction and you heard it here first . . . from no less than a Giants fan:
My money is not necessarily on the Rockies to win a wild card, however, dollars to donuts – they come in 2nd place in our division. Yep. The Dodgers bullpen is mediocre (exception of Jansen and Baez); after using 13 different starting pitchers last year, Los Angeles has already gone through eight this season; and their starting line up is unimpressive. Worse, Kershaw is on the DL.”
Flav’s annual foray to the mall in Concord, good times. 😜
I am actually getting excited to hear about Blade and Chi’s east coast jaunt. That is going to be a blast. Can’t wait to hear the daily reports.
I was a little concerned about your choice of hotel. Paul made a good point about it being pretty far out from the action. I pulled it up on a map and I would agree. Wouldn’t that be like going to San Francisco and staying in San Mateo?
But then I went to Priceline and saw the going rates for hotels in downtown and now I see why you choose the location you did. My god, I thought SF was expensive. Those rates are worse than NYC.
Here is a tip. I am guessing your paying around $175-$200 a night for your current location? If you do a Priceline bid ( about two days before or when you can still get a refund on your current reservation) I bet you could get a much better location for about $50 more a night, maybe for the same price as what your paying now if your lucky.
I pretty much use Priceline bidding exclusively when I travel for pleasure or business, when I have to expense myself. I have scored some tremendous deals. Let me know if have any questions.
Chi got the Boston crib and I took care of the NY digs, which are very, very close to Yankee Stadium. I hope he sees your message. The good news is that he got his flight revised. He was coming in at midnight on the 19th. WTF? That would have been a wasted day or evening I should say, as I am arriving at 4:11pm . . . Anywho, he was able to correct that faux pas.
Me? I am fairly savvy on flights and hotels. In fact, for long term digs, I never give the middle man (e.g., Travelocity, Priceline, Expedia, etc.) more than a few days of my money. In effect, I cut my own deal with the hotel after I arrive and tell them, “You can either fill the room or I’m walking to the hotel next door.” This usually works for 2 reasons: 1. I travel light – a 38L back pack max and we’re talking even for 5-6 month trips; and, 2. If they have a parking lot – even better . . . I point to the empty lot and then tell them about filling the room.
I am very polite to them and they usually cut the deal.
Good example of the above is a Boquete, Panama luxury cabana I scored for a month at $30 per night. The first 2 nights was $90 per night. This place had two doors for entering the cabana; a kitchen; living room; loft for bedroom; and numerous picture windows with views of mountains, jungle, and resort gardens.
I like your style Blade! No nonsense, Old school approach.
That’s how I am with ticker scalpers. People hate going to games with me because of my interactions with the scalpers on the street. I love it though.
The best was when I was in Atlanta a couple years back for a Braves-Giants game. You all know how shitty the Braves draw. So this one scalper had a pair behind the Giants dugout about 10 rows back. I told him I would pay him a small “premium” since he had to split the pair. It was ten minutes before first pitch and I offered him $20. Of course, he does the “walk with me” deal, so I comply. He tells me the proverbial, “cracker you’re out of your mind, these are box seats, blah, blah, blah.” My response was real simple. “The game starts in ten minutes and you and I both know if it wasn’t for me coming up to you, you would be eating both those tickets. Here is twenty bucks.” He gets all pissed off as he hands me the ticket. Then as I walk away, he asks if I am going to tomorrow nights game, to look for him. Ha!
Excellent story! Love your style too! 🙂
Well, I seem to remember you mentioning that this Ramada was a good spot, Steve. That was my principal driver on choosing this place, and also price.
Wilco – yes, right under $200 a night for this, and I booked it through Priceline. I do a lot through Priceline, and am familiar with the name your price. Things were filling up quickly in Boston, so I jumped at this (and again, I do recall Steve saying he knows someone who recommended this spot).
We can take a Uber to downtown…no biggie. And the hotel surroundings? I could give a fuck…it is just a place to hang my hat, and if Loo is correct, it primes us for our jaunt to South Bronx. 😉
So, we will definitely get into old Boston. That first night we plan to walk the Freedom Trail and find a place to eat. Any recommended dive bars in that area? (And I will even buy Steve some high-priced sodas). 😉
….just to tie a bow around the Forsch Brothers topic, Ken threw a no-hitter on the 2nd day of the season in 1979. Loo strikes again!
The next no-hitter thrown that year was the one at Candlestick thrown by Jerry Reuss. A game I attended and was incredibly overdressed for, thanks to my dad. A story I have told before on here.
It says something about me that I know more about the Forsch brothers than I do about Faneuil Hall. I’m not sure I’ve ever been inside Faneuil Hall and I am positive I have never taken a crap there. I do remember riding the T to Fenway Park and a buddy pointing out Faneuil Hall and thinking to myself, “What the hell is Fanual Hall????”
Satisfying win last night to inject some balancing sanity back into a short tailspin. Still, this Pen looks to be totally unsettled. It’s easily the biggest concern heading into the second half. Next, of course, to Bochy playing some dude named Tejada ahead of Gillaspie…
Have a great time, travelin’ Flappers!

Giants got 18 hits the other night at ATT, 14 more plus 11 walks couple bombs last night.
sounds like they are rounding into form for trip to AZ, where they miss Greinke and Snakes are 13-28 at home.
Btw, AZ has lost 5 in a row to take 4th place from Sherps. Yes, they might be “due”, but they’re just as likely due for a thrashing.
Wow, stop worrying about Tejada. This guy is not going to ruin the season, he’s last guy off end of bench who gets an occasional platoon start and will be ancient history soon enough when Specs and Panik return, after AS break at latest. Bochy intentionally kept all the LHs (Gillaspie Blanco Parker) out of starting LU and it worked fine.
Now Samardz tmw, in a hitters yard after some not so stellar performances lately, is another thing entirely.
willie, I’m not really “worrying” about Tejada, the Pen has me worried. I just find it strange a guy with no history with this team leapfrogs a player who has been here all season, and is recently hot at the plate, for no reason other than he’s RH’d — a total by-the-book Bochy move. Gillaspie, if he’s got a brain, and he does, has to wonder a little about that, and he’s going to be on the roster, I assume, after Tejada heads back to Sacto…
WilcoJoe, good comment about “wouldn’t that be like going to SF and staying in San Mateo”… I was thinking along the lines of it would be like going to SF but staying at the Travel Lodge off the 101 in South San Francisco…. I understand how pricey things can be in Boston in summer, that’s their big money time. But I think, shit, you’re spending all that time and effort and money to go there, what’s an extra fifty bucks…. Nonetheless, their plans are likely unchangeable at this time, and they will have a good time. Just… not at that hotel in that location… 🙂 If they can change to being in the city, that would be infinitely better. As for the Giants, yeah, those 1st 3 games against the A’s, fuggetaboutit. Right the ship and sail on.
Well, I threw down $200 a night, and it would have been more than $50 to stay in downtown. And again, I am not tripping on the location. We can take a Uber into Boston. The hotel? Only a place to hang the hat. It will all be good.
Blade—throw us a few packing tips for traveling light. Have you heard my son Trev and I are heading to NY during the Giants series as well? We ain’t checking any bags, so we gotta keep it light.
SanDiggity – we must hook-up in NY brother! Blade and I will be heading there (I assume via train) on the 21st (we are in Boston two nights – 19th and 20th), and then two nights in NYC.
We are going to the Friday game in NYC and sitting in the Main Infield, Section 227 B, Row 4, Seats 21, and 22.
Would be bad ass if we can meet up at the game, or even before and after.
Flapalooza, Baby!
We hit some unforeseen expenses so I’m iffier that I was 2 weeks ago.
but you’re saying there’s chance……..
This article has a photo of the specially-constructed ballpark at Fort Bragg where the Braves and Marlins will play the ESPN Sunday night game. But it doesn’t list the dimensions, which would be interesting to know. That had to be an interesting challenge for MLB. You don’t want to make the ballpark too small, or somebody could hit 5 HRs in a game and set a record. I’m sure that was actually the goal of MLB: they’d rather that NO records get set in this game. Just a good, entertaining, well-played game is what they would love to have.
http://wncn.com/2016/06/27/mlb-puts-finishing-touches-on-fort-bragg-baseball-field/
I couldn’t get that to open, but it sounds very cool. I know the good people of Willits have to be excited about the opportunity to catch some MLB action in their area. Hopefully the fog won’t be a big issue!
SMILEY FACE
Steve, bold call on the Rox finishing 2nd. That would be great to see (as long as the Giants finish 1st)… You’ve usually been right about the Rockies….
Dawg, yeah, Steve probably has really good packing tips. Mine are simple: lay out all the stuff you think you want to bring, and calculate how many money you think you’ll need. Then, divide the stuff in half, and double the money.
I like it!
LMAO. I too am traveling light…taking only a 35l backpack.
Obviously that previous post should’ve said ‘how much money’, not how many money. .. sheesh. Late night here after a few brews at Vinyl pub (owners play only good music pre-’90), where, tomorrow night, they are hosting an Independence Day hot dog roast in honor of us Yanks who are here and frequent the bar. It’s co-owned by an American, so… someone brought a shitload of Hebrew National franks back from the US for the occasion. Kinda miss the 4th in the US, so this is as good as it gets. Quyen says hi, Steve….
Knock down a Hebrew National and a few brews for us, Paul!
Don’t forget Quyen…
SanD – see my 10:44 above for details on our game, seats, etc.
Thanks man. I noted everything. We’re still dialing in some details, but I’m hoping we make it to Friday’s game
Cool. Here is my email. Shoot me a message and we can swap phone numbers. I am guessing Blade may already have your number.
chipower9@hotmail.com
Dawg, I need your phone number and email (again). My email is blade3colorado@yahoo.com
I’ll be going to the Friday night Yanks game, sitting somewhere in the upper deck with one of my Mets buddies who will definitely be on our side. So Blade, Chi and anyone else, hope to see you there. Or maybe we can meet up somewhere (Finnerty’s?) during the day.
Absolutely Mac!
Cool. Blade and I are doing the Friday game, too. I say let’s do Finnerty’s during the day. That is definitely on my list of places to visit. I think mrsportdude is going to the YankMee game, too, and I also believe that GH is going to the Red Sox game that Steve and I are taking in.
Dawg, the secret is rolling your clothes and the Janssport Odyssey 38 L back pack (2350 cu inches). You have to get the old one though, as I heard they have eliminated a pocket or two. Mine has 6 total, with 2 main compartments, a utility compartment – which separates all sorts of stuff (phone, small led light, knife or other tool, jewelry, medications, etc., and then 3 other small compartments for all sorts of stuff. Here is a photo I took of it for a travel blog post I did a few years ago . . . Sort of blurry, so I apologize.
Back to rolling your clothes. For a back pack this is the best way. They stay wrinkle free too. Rolling my clothes is a space saver. For a suit case, experts have determined the “interlock” clothes method is the best. On a typical 3-6 month trip to a hot and humid country, this is what I bring: 4 pairs of shorts (substitute pants if you like); 5-6 shirts; 6 boxers; bathing suit; 2-3 bandanas/hankies; toiletries; 7 inch tablet; bluetooth portable keyboard (forget the laptop – too much weight!); and, misc. crap (pass port, airline tickets, money belt, day bag). Never bring jewelry to a foreign country. It announces that you are an American tourist and says, “Please Rip Me Off.” In short, I travel like a frickin’ hippie. When I am in transit (flight, train, or bus), I keep money and cards in at least 3 separate areas – my person, back pack, and my money belt. I never, ever carry cards on me, except to use at an ATM and then I go back to the hotel and lock it in my room safe. Only cash for that day. I learned my lesson after getting lazy in the midst of my 10 country around the world trip, where I got my wallet stolen in Greece.
Thanks Blade!
Also, I am down with what Chi said – I could give 2 shits about where I lay my head down to rest. As long as the joint has a room safe, soft pillows, firm mattress and no bed bugs – I am usually down with that. In fact, when I travel, I like to switch it up . . . sometimes 4 stars, 3 stars and occasionally, a hostel too, where you can meet some very nice, friendly people (especially women).
I’m not much of a fan of Boston, its insular culture, its chip on the shoulder. I’m a New Yawk kinda guy (which has the chip but is not parochial). So maybe I can bop down to Finnerty’s or even sneak into the game last minute. Too many undecideds right now, but the eavesdropping is whetting my appetite.
Hope to see you, Pawlie. Would be awesome to see you again.
I have no clue re: Boston and NY…I do have an affinity for Revolutionary War history, so Boston should be stellar from that perspective. And Fenway has been on the bucket list forever.
Make it a wonderful weekend my friend!
Dawg, sorry that link had issues. Here’s a photo of the ballpark:

Built from scratch for this Sunday night game. I have no idea how it was funded. Maybe MLB and the U.S. military shared the cost. After Sunday, the ballpark will be used for recreational ballgames for the soldiers, which is cool. Although a lot of the seating and lighting will be removed after the game.
I didn’t know Fort Bragg was so big. 250,000 people on the base.
Very cool!
What it looked like before:

Tells you how much I know about millitary bases. I thought they were playing up the California coast.
That’s a bitch of a par 3 . . .
Fort Bragg, CA is very nice! My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Fort Bragg and Mendocino. We had first gone to the Kate Wolf music festival in Laytonville. Awesome music festival, but away from the coast, and in the full heat of summer, 100+ degrees. Using every stay-cool strategy possible, we survived and really enjoyed the festival; and then after that headed to the lush, delicious cool air of Fort Bragg. It was awesome. We still talk about what it felt like to get to that cool air after the festival. A few years later we went to the festival again, and survived, and perhaps we’ll go back again someday. We always keep our eye on who the performers are. When they have some of our absolute favorites, there’s always a chance we’ll go. Performers like Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Gillian Welch, Richard Thompson, Buddy Miller, and others. The genre labeled Americana these days.
Quite different than the military base in North Carolina. 🙂
Although North Carolina does have it’s own very awesome Americana music festival, MerleFest, started by Doc Watson in honor of his son Merle, after Merle died. It’s in Wilkesboro, NC.
The Kate Wolf festival was started in honor of a folksinger who also died way too young.
A possibly fun fact: one of the owners of the ranch in Laytonville where the Kate Wolf festival is held is Wavy Gravy, he of Woodstock and overall hippy fame. Wavy makes an appearance at each Kate Wolf festival and does a kind of rambling stand-up comedy routine, and also does a charity drive to help children in need.
I almost pulled the trigger on Merlefest one year Zum.
By the by (to quote Blade), My 40th birthday (yes I am the baby around here) is in October and I am considering a trip to the Bay Area for Hardly Strictly. Been wanting to go all these years and so what better time? I need to check out the lineup. It never seems to disappoint.
I’m a regular goer to Hardly Strictly. In its 15 years, I’ve missed 3 of them.
The list of performers is always awesome. On 5 different stages. Tough choices have to be made. 🙂
Especially when they had land mines in the bunkers Chuck…
Flav – have a safe and wonderful trip to Sun Valley, and thanks once again for all you do to keep this place alive for all us vagabond Giant fans. I sure appreciate it!
I am heading out from work Flappers – time to kick off this Independence Day weekend! Make it an awesome one, Flap Universe!
Thanks; you, too!
The Blue Jays are wearing red jerseys today that don’t make any sense. But….I know, it’s a multi-uni world in sports these days.
Yeah Flavor have a great trip to Sun Valley my man! But 1st roll those high rollers in the El Darado poker room for extra cash flow on your road trip!!🎰🎲🎰🎲🍻🍺🍻🎲🤑🤑🤑
Happy 4th to the Flap Nation, from this Canucknucklehead!
Canaduh Day is today, July1st (the equivalent of the American 4th of July) … In honor of that, a very few strains of the Anthem: “OH, Cana – DUH! Our homes are made of WOOD.” … etc, etc …
Chi and Blade, where in Boston are you staying?? I may have missed any responses you guys may have left after my suggestion for beer/lunch on the 20th.
I am unsure of post-game agenda for son and I after the Tuesday night game, but if you are staying closer to Fenway let me know. I am assuming we are walking into Fenway as soon as the joint opens so son can breath it all in…
By the bye, I looked at ticket prices for the Sunday Yankee game to see what seats went for behind the Giants dugout. Get this, first row were going for more than $1600 a ticket…FUCCCCCCCKKKK!!! Insane….
GH, been out and about most of the day . . . There are about 5-6 emails related to the game in my inbox which I haven’t read yet, coupled with catching up with this blog – Consequently, I’ll defer to Chi insofar as where we’re going and whom we’re meeting. However, it seems like all the East coast gang, along with Sandawg and his son will be in the neighborhood for Boston and/or New York. Can’t wait to see everyone!
I saw the references to hotels and etc and did not know what was exact info. I left you guys a message just on t he Flap during the hell game free Tuesday…
GH, can you send me your telephone #, along with info about when (date and time) you guys get in, where you are staying, and which game you are going to. I will forward you our info via email (easier to find). My email is blade3colorado@yahoo.com
FYI .. Pretty good battle between Jays & Tribe going on now in extras tied 1-1 … Tribe riding 13 game win streak.
Are the Giants in 1st place?
Didn’t realize this was in slow motion.
Pretty good! I think Zum might have some competition.
Chuck, it’s not in slow-motion on my lap-top. Looks cool!
WJ, there’s always room for more gif-bringers! 🙂
Heh heh. It’s working now . . . !
I think Kershaw’s injury will have a huge impact on how much dealing the Giants will do this season. If he’s gonna miss significant time, than they’ll probably just wait for the injured guys to return (assuming they will) because without Kershaw, the Dodgers are not likely to overtake us for the division.
#loologic
As I said earlier, I doubt the Dodgers will maintain their lead over the Rockies. In fact, the natives are getting restless for the Rockies to acquire a pitcher . . . http://www.denverpost.com/2016/06/30/rockies-need-to-trade-for-pitcher-before-carlos-gonzalez-lose-hope/
Shocked Dwight Howard, Atlanta Hawks agree on 3-year, $70.5 million deal. Dude is poison in the locker room and has zero range. Couple that with a putrid free throw percentage . . . umm, why?
Yeah, and how about the deal that clod Mozgov got from the Lakers? Nuts!
I think the NBA players/owners agreement kicked in for next season, where max contracts (or I guess I should say all contracts increased). Not certain about the details, but I almost dropped dead when I saw what Conley got.
Loo, how do you feel about Lin coming back to the Nets?
Whoops. My bad – was he with the Knicks earlier in his career (versus the Nets)?
I think it’s a great move for the Nets. Lin turned the city upside down for a few months. It should help get some people in the building and Brooklyn has a massive Asian population. If they filmed Saturday Night Fever today, John Travolta would be working in a nail salon instead of a paint store…
My main concern about the Dodgers is their HR pop. It still enables them to be rough on bad teams with bad pitching. A guy like Grandal, batting .180, can still hit a big 3-run HR late in the game like he did against the Nats to win the game. They have batters that can stumble around for a while, and then still go yard in a big moment.
So, even with Kershaw’s situation, I think the Dodgers can end up winning the Wild Card, if the Giants can put the division title away.
Why can’t we have one o-dem dere dinger doers on da Giants zUm?
Im wantin’ one ZUM … Im wantin’ one real baaaad!!
Maybe they’ll hit a bunch in Arizona. 🙂
I don’t care if it’s poor sportsmanship to say it.
Kershaw’s injury is great news for us.
Why pretend it’s not? Who’s lookin’?
Well, I don’t think there’s many Dodger fans feeling sorry for all the Giants’ injuries.
Who says it’s poor sportsmanship? I wouldn’t wish it on him, but he got hurt and he’s the Dodger’s best player. More power to us.
Bummer … I’m blacked-out for the Gigantes tonight … Discovered I will also be blacked out for any time we play the Pedophiles.
There is a MLB ‘blackout’ map I saw on-line. Seems that just about every market/area has 2 teams for which blackouts are applicable. Here in my southeastern corner of AZ it’s the Snakes & Peds.
Span out, stiff neck. Blanco lead off? Oy …
This NBA salary FA stuff is crazy. Mike Conley stays at grizzlies– 5 years for $153MM. Mike Conley? 13.6 PPG last season. These deals make MLB salaries look cheap…
Loo, these are the deals which are making me roll on the floor with laughter . . .
Jeff Green for $15 million (one year). Conley’s $153 million deal (he’s never been an All Star, albeit, perhaps he should have been). Chandler Parson’s 4 year max contract of $94 million (sheesh, this guy had major hybrid microfracture surgery on his knee in spring of 2015, and the rehab from that operation lasted well into the 2015-16 season. The arthroscopic operation Parsons underwent this spring to address a torn meniscus in the knee also). Injury prone Bradley Beal max contract for $130 million/5 years. Ancient Al Jefferson for 3 years and $30 million. Jordan Clarkson’s $50 million deal with the Lakers. Yep, the Mozgov contract is hilarious too. Couldn’t happen to a better team (Lakers). Shit, bring Kobe out of retirement for $24 million again. HAHAHAHA
I haven’t even heard of some of these guys…
Loo, check out the Mozgov video where the guy being interviewed comments on this deal. Hilarious.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/16661921/timofey-mozgov-los-angeles-lakers-talks-four-year-64-million-deal
He’s right – might as well say it…
Jeez … only 3 regulars!?!? Pagan, Belt & Craw … Oh well, I guess Cueto will have to be extra special tonite. At least we don’t have Tejada in the LU.
Bad 0-2 pitch Johnny.
jesus h christ
Giants pitchers keep serving up HRs lately.
Giants pitchers been stinking lately.
I hope it’s just some kind of mini-slump. (Though Smardj hasn’t been all that good for about a month now.)
Ugh … I suppose its a little too early for the raceway “wheels flyin’ off” gif uh Zum?
The AS break cant come fast enough .. Cueto is on pace for 230 innings. Our pitchers look tired.
Atta kid, Conor. Leave him in there, Bochy, against all comers.
Then he follows it up with a bone-headed base running move.
I don’t think that was a bad decision, they just made a nice play. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anyone get thrown out from that deep at shortstop on that type of play.
I think you need to get a better read on a hot smash right at the SS. He was dead meat from the get go.
By you I meant Gillaspie, Dog.
Az radio announcers saying wasnt Pie’s fault he got thrown out at home …howd it look to you LJ?
Ok .. you answered my question while I was typing ..thx
He either needed to break a lot quicker or not go at all. It was a hard grounder right at the SS. He was out by 10 feet.
Euuh boy .. got it .. thx again
Nice hit, Gillaspie, then a baserunning gaffe.
Flav will love that, Kuiper did the that ball is outta here call. Came up a little short, Duane, about 60 feet worth.
I guess it’s a situation a thirdbase coach could remind Gillaspie about, but- nevermind.
Hmm, what a novel concept!
Good bounce back by Johnny. Just keep ’em at bay. The Giants have historically hit very well at this band box.
There’s not much the Giants can do until the pitchers stop giving up all these HRs.
Yeah. The HR’s allowed are outpacing the Giant’s prodigious offense.
It’s weird all the Giants pitchers doing this. You’d think someone would still be able to avoid it. But it’s been happening a complete trip through the rotation, going back to the 2-run HR Bum gave up against the Phils that lost a game.
I just watched a replay of Blanco getting thrown out at second from the first…didn’t he look safe? Why did they not challenge?
Blade, just sent you an email with my sort of Boston itinerary.
Conley will make almost 3x Curry’s salary next year. Ridiculous. And maybe all these ridiculous deals puts the thought in Durant’s head that the Warriors know what they are doing as an organization to build a championship as the prime objective. My second choice is Bazemore and he looks like he is waiting until Durant makes a decision (of course I have not paid attention for any new signings the last couple of hours). But a lot of teams seem to be going after him hard, I guess the Rockets the hardest. I hope he gives the Warriors a shot and I have a belief he would take a little less to be on a championship caliber team.
Yeah, I was surprised they didn’t challenge the call on Blanco’s steal attempt. He looked clearly safe. I don’t get that.
Do the Dubs even need another guard? I’m thinking more of an interior presence/power forward type of guy.
Parker isn’t helping his case tonight for more playing time.
You’d think Miller would be a guy he’d do well against, with all the fastballs. He struck out on ball 4.
fuck
Clutch hit!
Green getting it done!
Johnny needs a shut-down inning here.
When all is said and done and the wounded warriors come back to the roost, Gillaspie is a keeper. Green currently is looking much better an option than Tejada as well.
Gillaspie looks like a man playing for his baseball life.
He was a sure DFA if Duffy hadn’t got hurt…
He’s been a huge lift for the team, with Duffy being out. And, please, Bochy, scrap the Tejada platoon.
I would think Gillaspie’s going to stick with the team when Duffy comes back. And Specs is coming back. I don’t see a spot for Agent OOO, other than in Sac-town for a good while.
Grant Fucking Green comes through…I am shocked with that swing he could hit a little leaguer…ok, a good little leaguer…
Either Cueto gets a couple of quick innings or the pen better be ready to work tonight.
Lurker, are are you referring to Durant or Bazemore…or both? They both would play the 3 and commented before what they need is a guy who can drive the ball in the lane and throw it down. Durant obviously gives you another premier shooter, but I see Bazemore as the guy who’d play like a longer Jason Richardson.
Harrison Barnes just has not lived up to the potential of being a SF who could consistently drive to the basket and shoot.
Fascinating to see how the Dubs are going to handle Ezeli and do they really try to move Bogut. Does Bogut get and play pissed off next season if he thinks they were trying to dump him???
Bazemore, GH.
Bazemore is a small forward? I would’ve figured a 2. Agree with you about Barnes. Given the money he’s likely to command (inexplicably) I think he’s done as a Warrior.
So far Norris is slicing through the Rockies like a hot knife through butter. It’s kind of annoying the way the Braves keep giving the Dodgers pitchers. First, Wood, then Norris. The Braves are taking tanking to an art level.
Norris, 7 Ks in 4 innings so far.
Chi, sent you a message on FB.
Got it. Thanks, Paul.
Seager’s a hitting machine. The league hasn’t figured him out yet.
That’s why it’s really important to not walk people ahead of him, like the Rockies pitcher did. The Dodgers are a low-batting average team, overall. You just can’t walk guys, though. That’s a killer.
Stay hot, Gillaspie!
Memories of Mike Benjamin?
Hopefully better than him. 🙂

Oh, I do remember that streak. It was amazing.
Gillaspie is on fire!
@James: thx for the tip on Voodoo with the Horvitz Zorn group, very nice. Their version of Sonny’s Crib is great. Had My Conception cd on at work today.
bottom order making some noise again!
HUGE!
Lurker, Bazemore played the 3 for the Hawks and the way the Dubs play small, he is ideal as SF. But I also can see Pau Gasol in the mix to add a bigger presence to the roster but also someone you can play at center in the small Warrior attack. Dont think Dallas will let Nowitzki play elsewhere and will overpay for him. Gasol I see playing for a championship and not the money…
Yeah, I don’t think Dirk is the answer. He’s getting up there and the W’s pace of play may be beyond his capabilities at this point. Bazemore is only 6’5″ so I’m a little dubious about him at the 3. Barnes is 3 inches taller and a good defender. I don’t know about Bazemore on D.
I’d also like to see Bogut come back. Outside of a still-rough-around-the-edges Ezili, he’s easily their best option as an interior defender and rebounder.
I should also add that I’ve not seen Bazemore play that much.
Yeah baby!
wow that was stupid. cueto is batting about .100 and they pitch to Brown who romps one.
Guess that’s how you get to 13-28 at home
.051 actually. hard to f-ing believe.
Yep. That was some bonehead bullshit there, but I am happy they have their heads up their asses. Sure worked out this time.
I am liking Downtown Brown more and more all the time. Kid is a good back-up C.
Pretty sure he’s made Susac expendable for whatever he’s worth…
I agree with ya, Loo. Susac has just been too brittle. If the kid had stayed healthy, it would have been interesting seeing what he could do.
The pedigreed Susac becomes a great trade chip if he can produce just a little in the minors.
Giants with a color-coordinated combo. Green and Brown getting it done.
Nice.
