Home
Ahhhhhh can you feel that? I can. That’s the sweet flow of a gentle marine breeze. Feels good. There are unconfirmed reports that breeze hit the players in the face as soon as they got off the plane and many of them fell to their knees, sobbing. Gratitude.
Hopefully the weather and the travel didn’t take too much out of our guys. The Reds are pretty bad but they’ve got some hitters who can make you pay. I’m still not sold on Peavy but appreciate what he’s doing or trying to do. He’s Cy Young compared to Cain.
Imagine how pissed off we’d be if Evans had signed Lincecum?
Time to get back on the winning beam, one way or another…..
Great post Flav. I can only imagine how those players feel getting that nice, gentle, marine breeze. I’ll probably get mine in the form of a hurricane at some point. Still, Home is good and Home Plate is how to score runs, so hopefully they get their home cooking and cross the other plate often. We Score (often), We Win.
http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2016/7/25/12272408/sf-giants-huston-street-rumors
I am going fucking postal if the Giants sign Street. Keep your heads down boys if that happens. Bullets and heavy sharp objects will be flying like a motherfucker.
Chuck, you are with Blade but I have even money they do trade for Street…
Fuck, I SO hope you are wrong Peter.
So one of the four prospects the Cubs are allegedly offering for Chapman is the #24 prospect in baseball. The Giants as far as I know donβt have any prospects in the top 100. That seems like a pretty big overpay for a two month rental. Of course these deals seem to end up being much more watered down than what the rumors make them out to be.
Chapman was throwing serious gas when Blade and I were in NYC (if the gun was accurate, he was regularly touching 103-104). With each pitch, it looked like half the damned ballparks’ heads were on a string, as they would watch the pitch be delivered, and immediately look up at the area where the pitch speed was listed.
Let the loveable losing cubbies overpay. If we are picking the YankMee’s pockets, I would take Miller all day every day (and twice on Sunday) over Chapman,
Street has sucked, so of course it makes sense the Giants would acquire him?…
It may turn out to be a good thing that the schedulers brought in the Reds before we face the Gnats from the District of Corruption. Perhaps Belt, Buster and Crawford can begin contributing once again. At least Crawford is a Bay Area dude and should be reinvigorated by the cool. It would be extra cool if BB9 and Posey get on base first. It would also be kewl if Pagan replaces Span at lead-off and the latter would be given a few days to chill on the pine. I’m sure several of us are pining for that move. C’mon Bochy!
I’ve been calling for that move (Pagan in the lead-off, and Span with some pine-time) for at least a month. Yo skip! Make it happen, yesterday!
Dodgers have EZ schedule on paper this week. Not beyond possible the Giants find themselves tied for or behind division lead by end of week. They need to get their heads out of their nether regions on hitting…
I truly believe that we need to give the division lead to the bambinos of la-la land at some point (I prefer sooner rather than later), and at about the time that Pence and Panik return. This all fits in with my suggestion that our boys need some adversity (hey, there was tons of it in ’10, ’12, and ’14). Again – What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger. Come on your fuckers, torture me just a wee bit more!
Yeah, didn’t see the sweep at the hands of the Pads, but the East coast swing is always tough on these guys.
They need to catch a fire NOW. If the Dogs were playing halfway decently they’d already be past us.
Yeah, I think Span needs to come down with a lower body injury and sit for a couple days. He’s doing bupkus.
Tough trip to say the least. A hit there, a hit there with RISP and it goes different. Will adding Pence change that? Can he play 3b because Gillaspie and his .154 over the last week is annoying as hell. Especially when he goes for the gladiator style dirt rub up of his hands. Maybe dude should try some batting gloves. Posey hasn’t exactly been lighting it up either. Maybe the heat really did get to him. Let’s not even talk about the Big Poon Belt. Now they’re talking Houston Street??? FFFFffffff…
Crawfish had a roadie for the ages. In a bad way.
If we are flinging shit, he deserves a lot. 6 for 33 (2XBH) for a .182 BA, 0 ribibies on the roadie . . . Yeah, they are all asleep, but He certainly had his chances.
And you did not even mention the three E6’s in the game Blade and I attended. Craw has a lot of company on this team in regards to getting their shit together. Color me Polly…I still think they come out of this just fine…
Oh shit! Gotta run…my half-full glass is almost half-empty!
Beside pitching, Pavlovic mentioned that the Giants were kicking the tires on Steve Pearce. Plays some Inf. and OF, has some pop, I could see the Giants going for a guy like that.
I like Steve Pearce. Very versatile player. He would be a great fit.
How many weeks ago did I put Pearce on the table…Flav will verify…l
witness!
I third the call on Pearce. I think he would be a great fit!
Crunch time coming up quickly. Now that the Cubs landed Chapman for a squadron of prospects the logjam on top level relievers has been broken. Mutts and Milwaukee are in talks over a Lucroy for Arnaud trade which would need to be sweetened for the Brewskis. Problem is, NY may toss in one of their 3 top prospects if Milwaukee includes one of their pair of quality relievers. My take for the last week or so is that the Brewers would be the best pickup joint for SF.
Andrew Susac has been dingering steadily over the past week, upping his potential as trade-bait. He should be worth a 3.75-4.25 ERA level guy. Would hate to see him go for a Bully, except for one of the very best.
disappointed we didn’t have the package to put together to get Chapman.
That was a crazy overpay by the Cubs. Two top 100 prospects and two other fringe prospects for a closer that will walk in three months. This is why it pays to wait until the final hour. I just hope Sabevans doesn’t have a problem working on the sabbath.
Maybe I’m the only one thinking Chapman is just an arm injury in progress? He was never coming to SF, anyway. Cubs definitely going for the ring, all in, and why not? I like the ballsy move. After 100+ years of no WS, ya gotta go for it when you have a team like they do…
Very true. If any team should overpay, it’s certianly the Cubs. By the way, who was the last Giant prospect ranked in the top 25 of Baseball? Wheeler maybe?
Yeah, I think Wheeler was pretty high. Bum? Posey?
Disappointed. Not surprised. Cubbies completely overpaid. Good on them.
Steve Pearce would be a great add because of his versatility but he’s not a difference maker. I like picking him up because of the 3 guys we have coming back it should probably be assumed that at least one of them won’t make it back. Maybe 2. So I’m on board with Pearce, prolly wouldn’t cost a ton either.
Yeah the Cubs will really fuck themselves if they sign Chapman to an extension!
Would be awesome if Chapman doesn’t and the G-men get him in the offseason..
Don’t
Theo not known for making bad decisions. I’m sure this will work out for them.
Only way the Chapman deal works for them, IMO, is if they win the World Fucking Serious. Anything less and the trade is a failure, IMO.
Fuck it let’s get Sabean& Beane off their ego trips about these teams and make a deal!!
Reddich, Gray,Dollittle, for Arroyo,Bickford,Mejia and whoever in AA playing for the chipmunks..
Pagan and Blanco will be gone next year so Reddich makes perfect sense to get right now..
I don’t think the ego trip is on this side, I really don’t see Beane doing anything to help us out even if that means screwing his own team.
That first step outside at SFO and feeling the air is the first sign for me that I am home…
Comment RE: Louβs post yesterday about statues. I am more in the camp with snarrk. Not saying that Perry wasnβt deserving of the HOF, but he has just never been up there on my list of esteemed Giants. And he is a super nice guy. I have met him on two occasions at ST, and he was cool about signing my 2010 spring training lid (Vida Blue signed it, too). And I think he deserves a statueβ¦I would just put up one for Bonds, first.
And Loo and I were in lock-step β look at Kentβs numbers as a second-sacker. Dude belongs in the HOF, AND deserves a statue at 24 Willie Mays Plaza. And Loo, you are correct. Of all the current Giant statues around the yard, Marichal is my favorite, hands-down (LOVE the high leg kick).
I also believe Bonds deserves a statue, he built the fucking ballpark. I also believe he should be in the Hall and nobody else should be allowed in until he gets his bust in the HOF. But on the local statues, the Giants are using the Hall as a standard, Perry is in the Hall, he get’s a statue. By the way, he won one Cy with us and came in second while also with us. Tough crowd here.
No Cy’s as a Jint, Bozo…
Sorry, you’re right Loo. He got his first Cy the year after the Giants traded him to the Indians. I’m glad they’re giving him a statue, I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t. But, I’m done fighting for the old guy. Cheers man.
No problem here with Gaylord’s statue. Definitely linked to HOF status. Gaylord’s brother was no slouch either:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/perryji01.shtml
This one, while off-topic (and Loo – LOVED your Schick off-topic post) had me seriously LMAO from yesterday’s thread:
Post by Blade (he and I are in lock-step politically), and Pawlie’s response (pure gold):
blade3colorado said, on July 24, 2016 at 10:34 am: “1. Off topic β Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced Sunday she is stepping down as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. At one time, I actually liked her a lot. I thought she was a true progressive. However, she really pissed me off (as well as her DNC brethren) when she favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders in the partyβs 2016 primary contest. Shit, I didnβt even need these leaked emails . . . It was quite obvious to me that she and her DC cronies wanted Hillary to win the nomination. In short, she was bought and paid for a long time ago.

i am scratching my head trying to decide which is more off topic, Looβs grooming commercial or this.
lulz!
That commercial is soft-core porn, Chi!
I find the statue discussions interesting and agree with the comments about Kent & Bonds being deserving. If Posey sustains a high level of play he may be there too and let’s not forget Bochy who will be in the HOF. So that’s 3-4 more statues. Where do they put them? Along the walkway behind the right field archways? Line them around McCovey Cove?
Question is do they have enough plaster to make Bochy’s head?
Do they have enough pilaster to support it?
If not, heads will roll.
Belt dropped to 6th. Interesting that he’s the guy who takes the LU hit with Span doing literally nothing at the top spot. Before he got hurt, DuffMan was locked into his spot no matter what he did. But the all star Belt is the one who gets fingered by Bochy? Interesting…..
And Parker to 3rd.
Span CF
Pagan LF
Parker RF
Posey C
Crawford SS
Belt 1B
Gillaspie 3B
Pena 2B
Peavy RHP
If Pence and Panik were healthy it’s possible to start 7 ‘P’s at once.
I think they should do that at least once…
i support this as long as they don’t call it something stupid like “Killer P’s!” There has to be a better name
Right now, the P-shooters would work.
Pissing Prostates?
Yeah, i was honking this morning or was it last night to dump Span waaaay down and to boost Pagan to leadoff. Belt batting 6th is stoopid ~ to quote an ancient Flapper’s favorite drop-kick. If he can’t knock runs in, at least he walked a couple times yesterday. So maybe he should have been run up to 2nd where either advancing a runner or getting on base (both maybe) is the role.
Imagine the podcasts if there was p-p-ing all over the lineup.
feel the same way, Boch….
John Shea β@JohnSheaHey 3m3 minutes ago
Bochy on Chapman: “Cubs got a good one, a real good one. I wish they made that trade three days earlier.”
Parker/Posey in the lineup together in honor of the actress who has appeared in a number of indie films.
she’s still hot as fuck.
I used to have a crush on her. Especially when she was in Dazed and Confused.
Her and Joey Lauren Adams.
And, yes, she is still hot as fuck. Aging quite nicely.
really wish I could see this on video.
You got to give Wasserman-Schultz credit…she did her job. Now just call her Secretary of Health and Human Services Wasserman-Schultz…
Dinner tonight was a very good seafood salad sandwich, and a bowl of ice cream.
I’m ready to rock some baseball!!
Sounds so much better than my salami sandwich as we closing down beach house and emptying fridge…go Giants as I pass out;(
Michelle Obama…that was emotional even for me and I’m not emotional about very much.
Watched it too. Agree.
We scored.
A Run and a run with a guy in scoring position!! Breakout the champagneπΎπΎπΎ
You mean Bochy refusing to bunt over a lead off man from second and the next two batters striking out and popping up up actually worked to score a run???? We must be home…
Yeah I had my post ready for the screwed up scenario GH.then Posey bailed me out..
At some point he has start managing the percentages…
Duvall with a 420-foot out. π
Krukow said Velez; I think he meant Adrianza.
The fill-in magic is officially over. Get the missing starters back.
Giants waste base runners on with zero outs like they’re just brushing their teeth…
Wow Crawford basically stop that snot off his nuts. Still had plenty of time to make the play but noooo rushed another throw for no reason that ate up Belt..
That would be shot..
Anyway another E-5 ouch
Belt should’ve had that long hop all the way; his hands have betrayed him a few times lately. As for Craw, he’s in a bit of a fielding slump.
Not trying to be a broken record but why does Bochy refuse to bunt. We are struggling for 10 days. Two runners on and no outs and no sluggers in sight…#justdontgetit…
Guess he figured Pena and Peavy wouldn’t get anything done with guys on 2nd and 3rd, so maybe Gillaspie could hit a tweener or something. I’m always for bunts, but I can’t say I totally disagree with that view. As we saw in NYC, even when SF has a guy at third, they can’t score on a wild pitch…
Even if they had walked Pena after Gillespie bunt to get to Peavy and Peavy may at least strike out put Span back up with bases loaded is at least a shot at scoring more so than watching the bottom three flail…
Someone needs to get Parker some Kwell.
I’ve got no problem with moving a guy who struck out 17 times in 8 games down to the 6 spot. 2 for fucking 32? That’s some serious suckitude.
Duvall’s ball would’ve been 15 rows back in Cincy. That’s why I look at all these inflated Red’s HR totals with a skeptical eye.
It would have been out in just about any other park…
And Great American Field is still a bandbox.
If you reach into the field of play to catch the ball you should be booted and banned from the yard for the next two seasons…
The guy reached onto the field of play. There’s no arguing it, Kruk. Escort the jackass that caught it to the parking lot.
What an asshole. That kid earlier did the same thing in catching the foul pop.
Sounds like Kruk is getting on the Red’s bandwagon. I don’t give a fuck how well the Reds are playing, Mike. The Giants need a fucking win.
GH’s mentioning of all of the bandwagon Giants fans back east makes me wonder. Is that the case with the AT&T fans as well? It really seems like we have some of the dumbest fans in baseball. This interference shit is getting old. It makes you wonder if the majority of the fans in the stands are just there because it’s the cool thing to do and they really don’t know shit about the game.
I couldn’t see that interference watching just the play by play online and will let you all who go to more home games than I will ever go comment on the home bandwagoners but gotta think it is a healthy percentage, but also recognize you got to pay the bills and filling that stadium helps that..
The first side angle they showed, which was not shown again, clearly showed the dude reaching onto the field of play to catch the ball. Just a stupid move by a dumbfuck fan. The kid you can forgive, albeit barely. The adult, no way. They announce it before every fucking game, don’t reach onto the field of play or you’ll get the boot. But folks are too busy shoveling garlic fries down their gullets to notice.
Ballgame!
Thanks for coming drive safely home…
Fucking Peavy. Who thinks the Giants will come back from this deficit?
4th inning ugh..Peavy gave up that 3 run blast to Ortiz in the 4th last week:(
The walks were a killer. Peavy’s not good enough anymore to survive walking guys.
This team is floundering right now. Pitching, defense, hitting, the big trifecta. I don’t know about some of you, but the last thing I want is the Dodgers overhauling the Giants right now, as if that’s going to magically trigger some special mojo for the Giants. The way they’re playing, we’d be staring up the Dodger’s ass the rest of the way.
Yeah no need to bunt runners over and manufacture runs. Just wait for 3 run homer from Hunter Pence…
That’s another part, their small ball game has gone AWOL. First and second, no outs in the second and Gillaspie can’t move the runners. It’s one thing to abhor the bunt, but when your team is struggling how about thinking outside the box.
And Pagan didn’t get the guy over in the first inning.
Exactly zum. Left handed batter no less.
That’ll work!
OK, Belt was perfect to bat 6th.
Fuck bunting, just strike out to get on.
lol
I didn’t know that Gwen Stefani was going to pitch for the Reds tonight.
Awesome first base coach we got! Our base coaches rock!
See strategery…get in their heads…
Yeah no one else in this lineup can hit a 3 run homer…especially Buster…
BTW, Amy G looks effing hot tonight.
Friend of mine gives me her season tickets to use once in a while and that section of the park is jammed with long-time Giants fans. Croix de Candlestick encrusted caps, season-long h/w scorebooks, etc. One family, bunch of Nob Hill assholes, obviously plays vicious Giants trivia games at the dinner table when they’re not busy one-upping each over the investments and lawsuits they’re pursuing. When those people sell their season tickets on StubHub to bandwagon fans, the section is a lot more enjoyable. “Excuse me, mate, but can you explain why the policeman fellow walked out to the hurler’s hill just then?”
Another stupid base running mistake!!
But I will give the Reds credit on that one, pretty bitchin play they schemed up to nail Pena! Never seen a second basemen sneak behind a charging 1st basemen, well excuted..
That was a cool play, but now Pena can forever say he was picked off first by the second baseman.
Seems like a firstbase coach should see that coming, IMO.
Man, Pagan got all of that!
PA-GONE!
Hell of a bunt.
I will eat some crow now!
LJ want to join me?
LOL
PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGOOOOOOOOOOONEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Parker took a 3-1 hanging slider down the middle for strike 2. I don’t get that. Even if you’re looking for a fastball there, you have to take a hack at that hanging pitch.
It’s the key for him taking the next step. He has to punish the pitcher for doing that, and not give the count leverage so easily back to the pitcher, so that Parker has to swing on a worse pitch on 3-2.
WilcoJoe, you reminded me of one dumb thing I saw in Mecca (i.e., Boston) – THE WAVE. Unbelievable. I would have thought never in a thousand years would I see the wave in Boston or New York.
What’s next? Beach balls?
I’d be getting the bullpen going.
Law is up.
Peavy’s blowing a gasket.
It was clear Peavy was done.
To us. But, we don’t have the Batphone…
Peavy is throwing mid 80s fastballs and cutters. That shit is going to be murderalized if he’s in much longer…
Pardon me. It got murderalized while I was typing that. Why is it that we can see this shit, and Bochy won’t pull the plug on this dude? I don’t fucking get it. You KNOW he is throwing hit me stuff, but he keeps him in, hoping to squeeze another inning out of him. It’s total bullshit. Why the phuck have Suarez in the Pen for long relief if you’re not going to use his ass!!!!!….
Does it every time Snarkk with Peavy.. There has to be some animal porn positions that Peavy has on Bochy..
This is a rotten performance from Peavy; I don’t care how Bochy spins it later.
Three quality innings, something to work with?
So much for that ill fated lead..
Fucking Peavy sucks donkey dick!!
Can we trade Peavy for Bruce??!
$35 million on PeavaCain. Time is running out to get a starter and Pen help…
You beat me to it. π
This Peavy/Cain end of the rotation is just brutal. $35 million this season for negative WAR.
Keereist, get a gol darn AAA pitcher up here and throw him out there. I am sick of this Peavy/ Cain bullshit. You get 5 runs and you’re STILL in danger of losing the game. Time to make some decisions…
