Action Required, Action Demanded!
Well, here we are. July 31st. Our supposed *Super Bowl*. Sadly, Zaidi has been as inactive as….Sabean? I’ve fully braced myself for an onslaught of absolutely nothing happening—what a travesty that will be. And I will reign condemnation down upon Young Z. This is your damn job, man. This is why you were brought in here!
If I wanted the Giants to keep all the old guys around and/or trade or sign more old guys I would have advocated for them to keep Evans and Sabean!
Z has improved the team with some solid, under the radar outfielders (Pillar, Yaz and Dick). But there is so much more that needs to get done. Fuck this year and this idiotic pipe dream chase for one damn game.
Do what you were brought in here to do Young Z. My wrath will be swift and painful should you fail….
AZ throws in the towel.
Castellanos to Cubs…
The Cubs snuck in a last-minute stunner, working out a deal with the Tigers for Nicholas Castellanos, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). The return has yet to be reported.
Sorry AK. 🙂
Yeah bummer I wanted that guy Blade, oh well Z still did an amazing job imo..
Castellanos to the Cubs. DBs get 4 prospects for Grienke.
Flurry of last minute moves.
Dyson gone to Twins
Reliever Adam Kolarek is headed to the Dodgers
. . . and we get Gennett. Yay!
Giants get Scooter Gennett!
Come on down Scooter. Bye bye Panik. LOL
Tailgunner Joe McCarthy is headed to the GIants from Tampa Bay.
What a stud Z is.
You want action? We got action.
Scooter Gennett is headed to the San Francisco Giants from Cincinnati,
Geez, my head is spinning trying to keep a mental chart of comings and goings for the Giants…
Astros gave up half the farm for Greinke but hey no guts no glory. Luhnow has balls of steal.
I’ll hold off on praising Z until I see how much we had to pay the Braves to take Melancon.
Scooter is a nice get though—as long as we didn’t give up much.
Whatever it is, I’m fine with it. I was hoping to get rid of one horrible deal by the deadline, and we did.
Twins all in on former Gmen relief specialists (Romo and Dyson). Lean and mean now to pursue the Wild Card, with us trading away relievers Dyson, Melancon, Pomeranz, and Black today while keeping Bumgarner and Smith and adding second baseman Scooter Gennett.
Yeah Paul, my head is spinning on all these moves.
Don;t know what we got for Dyson, and what we gave away for Gennett.
Prospects Prelander Berroa, Jaylin Davis and Kai-Wei Teng will head to the Giants in the deal.
Kai-Wei Teng is also amazing on a wok . . . So, he’ll be overseeing the players parties and get-togethers.
Right, and how much Melon we’re eating…
Greinke started today vs. the Yanks!
Prelander Berroa, Jaylin Davis and Kai-Wei Teng is what we got for Dyson
Prelander was born in 2000! 5’11 – 170 pitcher (Timmy sized)
Davis 25 OF 6’1″ 190
Teng 22 SP 6’4″ 260
Good job Flav putting the reverse hex on Farhan…
Gennett for the omnipresent PTBNL . . .
Did I win Loo’s contest?
after all, this is all about me
YUP! And the bonus prize, too!
Flavor has the Gift Card.
You can e-mail me an address for the bonus prize.
Way to go, Koko!
Yikes. Wow. I’m kinda shocked.
Schulman “hearing” Braves taking on all of Melonhead contract, about $18.3M
Amazing!
And this Makes Zman more of a God!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHA . . . THANKS MAC! THAT MADE MY DAY!!!!
🍜🍤🍲🥘🥠🥢 Bring on the Teng master grasshopper!!
Zaidi has had it with the Panik/Craw no-hit thing.
I don’t like losing Dyson. He was finally starting to grow on me.

My reaction to losing Melancon is:
Strickland joins Nationals. He’ll still have to fight Harper on the field not in the clubhouse. Or maybe the Nats got him for his pugilistic skills, or lack.
MLB network says Gennett traded for cash considerations…
Zaidi is feeling real good about Coonrod, I guess.
Why not? He’s young and cheap.
I think he might be feeling good about Sam Selman as well who’s been lights out at Sac..
This pen is still quite good with righthandersMoronta, Gott, Coonrod,Lefty’s Smith,Watson& Selman a good potential blend and you add 2 second basemens in Dubon&Gennett not a bad haul..
Giggity giggity giggity! All of the contract?
That’s some serious wheeling and (fleecing) dealing by Farhan Luke.
DJ< you have to tell us what the bonus prize is.
Is it the McClain bat?
No, definitely not the McClain bat.
It’s something pretty new – not a relic from the back of my closet.
Any good Giant fan should have a place for it (hopefully not the trash)…
Last deal?
Cubs also traded Carl Edwards Jr. to the Padres.
Isn’t he a race car driver?
Dodgers didn’t improve their sketchy bullpen.
1. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
2. Buster Posey (R) C
3. Pablo Sandoval (S) 3B
4. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
6. Kevin Pillar (R) CF
7. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
8. Joe Panik (L) 2B
9. Jeff Samardzija (R) P
My tiebreaker was Panik, and in a sense it has happened. Sort of.
I had to laugh out loud when I read Melanoma (spell check result) and Pom Pom were traded thinking of the universal glee I was going to find here.
I was all in on Melon when he was traded to us ,but he lost it when he changed leagues. One of you guys should make a list of all the failures for relievers changing leagues.
Some of you are concerned about how much $$ we were paying out to ATL. Screw that! He was never going to make it here. He could have 10 straight good outings and 1 or 2 bad ones and everyone would want his head again. Think of what Zman pulled off- -ridding SF of two of our weakest pitchers, saving ALL the “premium” pieces, and picking up 1 or 2 pieces that we could work into an improved lineup. All that and we are still in play for the WC! Whatever our chances.
I suspect we have a good one in Zman.
Next Pres. and V.P. are on tonight (hint: B + K)
OSF
He hasn’t played in the American League for years and years, i.e., last two teams were the ‘Nats and Pirates (longest part of his career). He was excellent with them, especially the Pirates.
Melon didn’t change leagues, Seal.
Are you confusing him with Bill Monbouquette?
Loo, I thought he was a Twin/ChiSox vet. My bad.
What kind of odds you think I could get on the lovely Mrs. Clinton being the Democratic nominee in 2020?
A zillion to one.
Best move Z and Boch made was putting Pom-a bomb in the bullpen for an audition before the deadline and it paid off as they found a sucker to take him!! That was a great calculated move!
Outstanding point, Kat!
just got off the course, gonna have to sift through all these comments and look over the moves but early indications are that Young Z has escaped my wrath—-at least for now.
First reaction was the Paul (Asian) nailed this. In the end, Z wasn’t a buyer or a seller but rather a trader.
Paul really did nail it!
Z somehow found a middle ground…
Baggs also reporting that the Braves are eating the Melancon salary. If that’s true…well goddamn!
Best move for me was getting the Braves to take Melonhead AND his contract, and we got the Fonz, and Soy Un Perdador, baby.
Unbelievable.
Plus we got a starting 2nd baseman for cash or the PTBNL.
Melancon pitching in the playoffs….
Good luck with that, Atlanta.
My step-dad loved those, and took one in his lunch to work, five days a week, for decades. He eventually lived to be 91.
They were awesome!
Nothing beats a scooter pie!
Had a neighbor that worked for the company and when I was a kid at Halloween he handed out Scooter pies at the door, needless to say I would change by costume up and go get a second! Their still the bomb today..
Melanoma deal couldn’t have happened without his blessing (full no trade clause) and for that, I’m grateful toward him. We get rid of him and his large salary, while he gets a clean slate opportunity to show everyone that he still has it. Win Win for both parties.
Agree.
It was cool of him assuming he wasn’t paid to waive it.
Maybe he felt some obligation in light of the millions the Giants paid him for doing next to nothing…
Yeah, Trader Z got players to help now (in it to win it, etc.) plus young ‘uns for near future, AND offloaded a bad contract. Nothing super splashy but that’s a job well done. Gennett, good, but the real infielder prize might turn out to be Dubon. And an additional tip of the hat to MadBum, who clearly led the spirited call to give this team a chance to win it this year. Now let’s see if they can do it… .
Yaz came into game slugging exactly .500.
Billy Williams did that in 1968…
the slugging % in today’s game is insane. I think the median (could it be the average?) is something like .430. I heard that somewhere this week, I can’t remember where. There are hall of famers who check in with a .430 slugging %. The game has changed and is out of control right now.
Dodgers were relatively quiet, only getting Gyorko (who’s injured) and lefty Adam Kolarek, who’s death to lefties. That being said, they were pegged to get a top flight reliever like Diaz or Vazquez, but whiffed on both. Nice!
For this year, I don’t expect the Giants to win the World Series… still have some holes and less talent than some of the better teams in the league, but if they continue playing loose (no August swoon), at least it will be fun to watch and the post-season could definitely be in play. If Cueto can return and perform, that alone will be like nabbing a top-notch starter at the deadline. This series in Philly could be a good gauge of how things will go.
Some teams like the Dodgers&Yanks still mystify me with their unlimited resources and on the brink of winning it all are reluctant to give up prospects to secure that success.Well guess what Houston isn’t, they seized the opportunity to add a Grienke to win it all and now with that Big 3 they probably will..
the Dodgers are as close as they can be to winning it all. They can’t just keep winning the NL west every year and NEVER winning the WS. I mean, I love it but at some point that will end. Hopefully their inaction at the deadline and Houston, a team that’s easy to support, can take it down this year.
I really think Luhnow intentionality waited till the last minute to pull the trigger on Greinke so Cashman and the Yanks couldn’t counter with a move of their own. If he makes that move 30 minutes sooner, Bum may have been a Yankee.
Phillies pitcher is blowing his fastball past the Giants.
we got hot for a month. It’s over. I’ve accepted that and welcome others to do the same. I said I’d stand with the FB housewives until 7/31. That day is here and me and them are parting ways. Good riddance.
And they say:

whatever. I’m off those hoes they’re on their own. lqtm
that’s one funny gif, hoes
Dickerson unable to start the game today. That’s tough missing him in the lineup.
get used to that, him being injured is nothing new, it’s been his entire career.
Which is why they need more depth in the outfield going forward.
We now have upped our chances of a Wild Card to 6.1% and a World Series championship to 0.1% . . . For perspective, the Dodgers have a 100% chance of making the playoffs (LOL) and 18.9% chance of winning the World Series. The 2014 San Francisco Giants — a wild card — pulled off a World Series title, but the other 27 wild-card teams since 2012 have failed. Half of those 28, of course, lost immediately. Of the 14 that moved on, only six won their division series; of those six that moved on, only two won their league championship series.
I don’t know why, but per FanGraphs, the Snakes with a worse record than us, have better odds (9.9%) to make the playoffs versus our Giants. Hmm . . .
intriguing stats, blade
likely bc of RS/RA differential
Zaidi may have a career in politics after a day like today. He did the impossible and reached out to both sides. He pleased both the Facebook moms and those (like most of us here) that wanted to see moves made for the betterment of the future.
I have no doubt in my mind that given the same situation, Sabevans would have done neither.
Posey!!!
Busted it!!!
Buster bomb!
Pablo bomb!
Z might of struck gold with this kid RF Jaylin Davis in the Dyson deal with the Twins. He’s tearing up AA-AAA with 25 HR’s currently hitting .331.He could help this outfield this year!
Pillar bomb!
This is turning into a very nice inning.
Damm get out the Hitting Sticks!!
Pillar needed that bomb!!
It’s the ballpark…
Trade deadline took little effect out their bats tonight.Even Panik who’s feeling the heat smokes a ringing double..
Zaidi’s letter to Giants fans today:

Panik and Crawfish are hearing footsteps.
“That Pitch Was A Ball:
The Brandon Belt Story”
In Belt’s case it’s clown steps.
Smarlelged working on getting to .500. And that ERA down. Be still my hopeful heart.
And Buster passes his home run total from last year.
Watson. Dude. Chill.
Thank you
Prelander Berroa, like, he’s gonna be great, because, you know, pre-Verlander.
Rough night for Yaz.
