Kapler stretched Gausman a bit too far in this first game of the season. He did not get a lot of work in ST, so flakes of rust showed up in the 7th. Excellent performance through six.
After a shaky walk to Fraley, Baragar handled Murphy to get out of the inning with no further damage. Kid had a very low WHIP last season, with batters hitting just a bit past the Mendoza line against him.
Gausman looked good in every way imo. He exited on time.

That error in the 8th — not a great throw by Belt, but Craw should have had that throw. He weirdly had his foot on the bag anchored way on the 3rd base side, and reached across for the throw in slow motion like he had arthritis and/or had just toked on a joint. Not a good look…
