mm watched a race late in card at Pimlico with 3 horses in photo finish. Flavien Prat’s horse got 3rd, extremely close. Ms. Gaudet talked to Florent Geroux–she looks great and had some winners yesterday iirc.
Lot of talk about how offense is down across board in baseball, comps to 1968 and dead ball era. As bad as it has been, Giants last time I looked were in middle of NL for runs scored and other categories, while at or near top for pitching/runs allowed. Lot of hitters slumping, hopefully return of Solano and Dickerson allow Kap more flexibility and better results.
Runs scored SF exactly at league average. Tied for 3rd in HRs (!), below league BA but OB almost exactly league average because of high pct of walks. They do K a lot. Overall right at league average for OPS. they aren’t only team in NL hitting poorly, in other words.
Pitching only trails Pads and Mets for efficiency of runs allowed and they’ve also given up way fewer bombs than they’ve hit so far. 4 games in bandbox Cincy after leaving PNC.
Minors notes: In Sac, Thairo 2 for 5 in W, batting .353
Richmond lost, Ramos 1-4 2 Ks batting .333
Eugene won Wilson another good day 3-4 2 doubles batting .424 OPS over 1.300.
Bishop must be hurt haven’t seen his name in a week
SJ won big 14-3, on a day without Luciano. 19 yr old CF Luis Matos 3-5 scored 3 drove in 2 with HR #2 BA of .359 OPS just under 1.000.

I know it was a tough situation but Barager had the batter at 1-2 looking silly on a couple of sliders and still had 2 pitches in his hip pocket to waste are the batter chases,why throw a FB he can lift in the air instead of a down slider that maybe u get the strikeout are a force at home possibility?

Darren is also one of only 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, given annually “to an NCAA Division I senior with notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition”. I went online and voted for him. However his future baseball career may unfold, the kid will not regret in later life having put in all 4 years at Cal. Much respect to Dusty and wife Melissa for raising not just a super athlete, but an all around great kid. The image of him as a toddler getting swept up by JT at home plate vs. the Halos is something Gyro fans will never forget. Now he’s ready to take on the voyage to maybe someday play on that same field. I hope we see him in a Giants uni somewhere soon, trying to get to the bigs. I will always have a soft spot for Dusty, even though he was once a Dodger. I just wish he had never started Livan in game 7…
I still can’t get that image out of my head when little Darren bolted out on the field and had to be grabbed by a heads up JT Snow at home plate. Bet to this day he still hears about that moment..

If you’re not a pitcher and you are hitting .100 in the Bigs with 50 or more ABs, I’m sorry, but you need to go somewhere else for a while regardless of your position. Casali’s OPS is .357, SLG .120 (that seems almost impossible) and is striking out almost 1 out of every 3 ABs. If there’s not another decent catcher at Sac that can hit at least .200, then go out and get one…
