One More Record For The Bay
I’ll be honest with you: until about ten days ago I had NO IDEA what the 3 point record was. You could have told me it was 5,001 and I woulda said “Damn, dats a lot of 3’s”.
Anyway, he did it. It’s been done. Steph, to me, is like the clean, likeable version of Barry Bonds. He’s given me SO MANY thrills over the last decade+. And he’s still rockin’. Such a fun ride to watch….
Glad he did it in NYC and the Garden to up the attention on the achievement. I am still more interested in how they played as a team and these three road games they have been off but they are too talented and can pull off these games with off nights.
Depth. Kerr has rolled with Curry and 4 subs off bench and those units have outperformed other team’s starters. I’ve been on him in past, but Green has been tremendous and has been attacking basket and finishing inside.
You read about all turmoil in Sac, and yet Bjelica fits in fine with GS.
No knock on Curry who is obviously the greatest long distance shooter of all time,
but the record he set is as much the result of the new game (that he perfected) as it is his ability.
Kind of like some of Ruth, Chamberlain and Gretzky’s records…
When GS knocked off Sixers in first meet up in SF by 20, Doc Rivers said that while everyone focuses on their 3s, GS kills you with 2s, which they make at very high pct. And imo that’s a special part of beauty of watching Curry score, creativity and 2pt shot making ability he has on layups bank shots and floaters.
This is stuff you can reach kids with and get them to work on, a smaller player figuring out how to score inside instead of just hoisting up 30 footers.
Great write up from Melissa Lockard in Athletic on Giants top 30 prospects.
This could definitely be the reason we haven’t hit FA like most of us wanted. Hope is there.
Well, that’s definitely Farhan’s plan. Bringing up the prospects before throwing around boatloads of money.
Insane that people want us to sign a guy like Bryant when he’s gonna command oodles of dough.
well, Luciano and others aren’t coming up anytime soon–many of them struggled once they went up a level, including Luciano from Low A to High A. He didn’t hit well in AZ Fall League either. We’re talking prospects, at High A or AA ball.
You saw those power numbers on Ramos-he hit AAA pitching worse than Dubon or Vosler, both of whom sucked trying to hit ML pitching.
Agree it is probably gonna take the hitters awhile to get on the 40. I was mostly thinking of the pitching. We have some pitchers than could show up sooner than expected. It didn’t surprise me that Harrison is so highly ranked. I still think we pick up a vet catcher even though the article sounded like they are going with Bart. I guess he picked up enough defensive skills last year that they feel pretty good about him.
Well, we all said before this season that 2023 was the year they were working toward. Regardless of the wildly insane results this year, they haven’t really deviated from the plan. Which I’m fine with.
They will pick up spare parts on the side of the road and see who it works out.
Only 62 daze until pitchers and catchers report…(I hope)…
Stay by that window…
Always…
61 days till they figure shit out.
They have the $$ to sign a very good player. A player vs pitcher, if only because they are safer money. If they don’t sign anyone the payroll will be significantly lower than in years past
Talent level too. Giants hated rivals have powerful lineup even without Seager–SF still hasn’t addressed loss of Posey.
Late-night news! Jags fire head coach Urban Meyer.
I heard on sportstalk late this afternoon that they wondered if Meyer could survive the week. Apparently latest was that the Jags former kicker reported to media that Meyer had kicked him in his leg while stretching before an August practice and told him something like “you better Fing get you kicks together”. Kicker said Meyer kicked him with a force of 5 out of 10. Kicker told Meyer he better never Fing kick him again. Meyer replied that he was the HC, and that if he wanted to kick him again, he Fing would. Kicker reported the incident that day to his agent, who contacted the team. If true, that is insane…
Meyer was used to god-like power over college football players.
Exactly Zum, though I doubt he could have gotten away with physically abusing a college player, even a kicker. I’m sure more stuff will come out of locker room, that he spread blame for team’s incompetence everywhere else but at himself.
He should run for President.
.
Hey Flavor- Once again I fucked up could you please delete this youtube link. Thanks
Thanks
Lol what HC gets fired after midnight? Guess Owner Kahn had to call some bars up to find where Meyer was grinding on some young chicks to give him the news!
Oscar Weiner Meyer is such a dipshit, kicking his kicker in the groin leg? calling all his coaches substandard, it’s such a dysfunctional organization that even goes above him cause he was a terrible hire that now has set Lawrence back in his progress and put a dagger in the back of their star RB Robinson who’s pissed at his usuage after being one of the top backs last year!
And what coach in the NFL doesn’t are seldom where his headsets during a game? Meyer felt he was some freaking god,and didn’t need anyone else telling him anything about his shitty game planning.I’m just glad the assholes gone. And you can bet more mental& physical abuse from his college coaching days and I’m sure they’re ALOT will start surfacing out soon as well..
Meyer’s deal with Jags may have a balance remaining north of $40 million.
I’d be shocked if they don’t deny paying him the rest, based on multiple violations of the “good conduct” clause in his contract.
He can contest that, but it will be arbitrated, apparently, via Goodell’s office, so the owner obviously has the upper hand. I’d say a Coach kicking/assaulting his own kicker and arguably harassing a young female on video at a bar are pretty good starting salvos. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear he’s got an alcohol problem or similar, that would also be ammo for the owner. The dude’s actions seem to cry out that he did not want the job…
No kidding. Who takes a job and then just fucks with everyone and everything around the job?
Fucked up thing is, there are prolly 15 colleges drooling to throw $150 mill/10 years at him.
Nothing on Earth freaks me out more than Walt Dropo’s rookie season and his failure to ever remotely duplicate it…

At least he didn’t Dropout like Joe Charboneau!
Looks like he was still building the park (BP). Great photo.
The pic disappeared..
This 4th down mania is pretty funny. Teams say you can’t leave points on the field but KC has blown 3 4th downs, and have given KC 9 points. Scary thing is it looks like Charger TE Donald Parham had a real serious head/neck injury.
Chiefs return the favor and don’t go for the lead down 1 on 4th and goal.
Fucking stupid shit.
You watching this DJ? Chargers stop the Chiefs on the 1, go 98 yards and fumble on KCs 1. Unfuckingreal.
Have you lost your mind yet, DJ? Mahomes pass tipped and picked on their own 6. Chargers finally score.
There was nothing enjoyable about that game for me except the very last play.
Chargers always fuck up in the end – it’s truly amazing.
The coach is a fuckin moron.
I heard Parham might’ve had a seizure of some sort – but that’s not reliable info.
Mahomes is still way out of whack…
Coach Brandon Staley gift wrapped this win for the Chiefs with his idiotic play calling and the points he left on the field..
Insidious thing about Meyer is why he was hired in first place. Replacements I heard mentioned yesterday include Bienemy and Leftwich, couple qualified black QBs and co-ordinators/assistants. Bienemy talked in past about going to interviews he could tell would be fruitless–one team even told him they wanted to talk to him over the phone to satisfy the Rooney rule. He said, “Let’s not and say we did.”
Also said he when he walked into rooms for these interviews, he noticed no one else there looked like him. Really sad we’re talking about this nonsense in 2021.
CBS site threw another name out there–Jim Caldwell. He was assistant on SB winning teams for Colts 2006 and Ravens 2012, and went 36-28 as head coach of Lions. Lions fired him after 9-7 season in 2017—and have gone 15-42 ever since. The Lions, lol, had a winning record for him but he hasn’t been head coach since.
Caldwell also was Colts head coach in ’09 when they were 14-0 before losing last two, then got to Super Bowl but lost to Saints.
Caldwell should get a statue for posting a winning record with Deetroit.
