This is definitely different but since we usually get hot around the first of the season maybe we can avoid a June swoon.
Just go to show Winder Spring Training means squats the Giants have the best record the last couple of years and then fall on their faces when the season starts up 81-81 last year and this year shaping up the same are worst.
I have to agree with Paul it’s frustrating looking at that LU they have some power hitters but they also K a lot and no speed as usual and the pitching is mediocre at best from the starters to the pen, they’re never going to hang with the freaking Dodgers..
Ah, the beat goes on.
Getting shutout twice to start the season will all be forgotten as they rack up 93 wins. Even with all their flaws I see this team going to the playoffs. I’m calling 93 Ws and sticking with it.
I think we’ll hit eventually but most of the PS resembles the waiver wire…
Only 2 games, so we’ll see. On paper though, pitching staff is a big issue, particularly with Webb laying an egg on opening day. Hopefully, that’s a “1 off” and he shakes it off going forward. However, he’s been nails for so long, maybe this is the beginning of him not being reliable???
Quite honestly, our minor league coaching gives me little faith, that Elldridge will work out his issues, insofar as striking out a lot, e.g., struck out 19 times in 40 plate appearances this spring. Extrapolate that to a season with 600 plate appearances and you get 228 strikeouts, which would be a big league record. Ugh. Anywho, maybe he figures it out in Sac and can join this team soon.
Based on the TV evidence, I have no idea how Mahle gets anyone out.
No doubt about that Judge smash.
Time for a wellness check on Zumiee?
Yeah I thinkJudge put a dent in the Ambulance roof..
Willie will ensure we get to 500 with another strong finish.
I have zero clue what these announcers are talking about, insofar as expectations for a new player replacing a superstar like Posey. Sure, I get it with regard to Judge and New York, where fans will let you know immediately what they think of you.
San Francisco? Come on! It takes a lot to light a fire under our fans, i.e., this is the easiest city in MLB to play for. When Mays left, Bobby Bonds filled the void and fans loved him. Same deal with McCovey, when Clark came in. Bailey has it easy, insofar as expectations in the SF bay area.
Giants chose Bailey over Bart I guess…
And Christian Arroyo over Aaron Judge
Heliot has a great post walk bat flip…
OK, my gut feeling is gurgling a bit. Still, just 93 more wins to go.
Love your overall optimism! I’ve been optimistic going into the season, other than worrying about the pitching. Oops. Of course they’ll do better than this. Just kind of shocking to look so inept right at the start, and certainly not the way Buster and V. envisioned the beginning of the new era…
I’m going way out on a limb here and say this will NOT be a good hitting team and will take most of the spring and into the summer to battle back to .500 ball. Lousy contact hitting even with pitches over the plate and don’t get me started on Savior Heliot Ramos ! The entire lineup has looked overmatched this series.
0-3? 2 days off in 4 days? Maybe opening day at home isn’t such a good idea.
they’ll be coming after Buster, soon.

And Dom Smith further down the page…
Dom lost his mother to cancer just days ago. Yeaterday’s grand slam thus acquired some of that weird aura fans like to see around mere sports feats. But I miss Dom. I would much rather see him at 1B than Casey. Or Jerar.
Yeah, big mistake getting rid of Smith. Don’t know the details though – Loo or xoot, what happened, e.g., a trade, released, free agent???
guess he had a one year deal and they didn’t re-sign him. Dom would’ve improved the IF D a lot. Even Chapman benefited from his glove work. Had to make room for Devers and Eldridge? Hmmmm. Checkers not chess, imo.
Blade the Giants just released Dom after the season figuring with Devers,Eldridge, and the signing of Arreaz they had 1B covered.Dom the gamer he was also couldn’t finish the season pulling his hamstring making a great play on an errant throw by Chapman in a game the Giants pulled out, just think he got a raw deal for sure..
I have to agree with the critics that allowing Borucki to pitch to Judge was dumb. Made no difference in the end, I suppose, but the implication seems to be that if he can fuck up so badly in an obvious situation who knows how he’s fucking up more obscurely. I can’t agree with that. Yet.
Yeah Dominic Smith is the 1st MLB to hit a walkoff Grandslam in his debut for the Braves!
Just can’t see why the Giants let him walk? He’s still only 30 and hit,and played great Defense just stupid! And RIP for his mom that Bomb was for her!🙏
3 games in I’m not going to jump ship on the hitting, especially with the Yanks as the only oppo pitching to assess it against. After 3 with the Pads, the story better not be the same, or to mix metaphors, I might be climbing up the ledge. The number of Ks does look disturbing — I thought they had solved that some with the batting coach from Toronto and success at fewer Ks in Spring Training…
The Yankees not only out scored SF, but also out K’ed them 29-27. I think Toronto is like the KC Royals of 2014-16, a passing anomaly.
