Why The Flap Dominates In Other Blogs Faces
The thing I used to loved about this blog is still the thing I love most about this blog. Yesterday, Zumiee makes a random, innocuous comment about hitting up A&W for lunch before the Giants game:
Today I had lunch at one of the original old A&W places, from back when car-hops brought things out to the car. I had root beer in a cold glass mug. Good times.
Now I’m ready for some BASEBALL!
And then, despite a game going on (and a good one at that) the rest of the Flap community bobs and weaves through the baseball related thread with personal stories about burgers and best places to eat, and such. Finally, as the blog was shutting itself down, San Dawg tied it all together with an epic POTD. That one had it all, didn’t it? Sports played, lessons learned, childhood memories, humor and even a “bad ass” reference. It probably had other things, too. And then freaking Loo goes over the top of Diggity’s epic post with some cherry finality that had me laughing out loud this morning…..
So thanks to all of you guys who make this blog the BEST San Francisco Giants blog anywhere on the internet…..

The Giants beat down big, bad Cliff Lee and tonight we get to face the dude of a thousand names. I always thought it was awesome that when Roberto Hernandez decided to fake his birth certificate to de-age himself he went with “Fausto Carmona”. You gotta have some flair and a little bit of ballsy stupidity to enter the US with a made up name like that. He probably figured that if the baseball gig didn’t work out he could get a job working as a magician at the circus. “The Great Fausto!”. Yes, I know I’ve said that before. I continue to amuse myself. Carry on.
The batters were the nails . . .
Affeldt dealing, 2 nice innings.
Score here bring in Casilla.
Blade the AW I referred to in sunnyvale was on el Camino btw Grape (big carwash) and So. Mary, where we lived. We’d hit that one after playing b-ball at Washington Park, where lights went out at 10 PM sharp. You’d get a warning about 5-10 minutes, then boom total darkness. Car hops in that one too.
I remember the one you mentioned, it lasted longer I think…near Arques?
Yes. It was on the corner.
Nice hit, Adrianza. Just slap that thing to leftfield.
Too bad Sando crushed one. One thing about Headley going to Yanks would be that likely eliminates them from throwing big money after Sandoval as FA.
I never noticed before that the relievers in this ballpark have to walk down a flight of stairs from the bullpen to get onto the field. That’s unique.
Yesserge
OK guess what happens next, as Casilla leads off the 12th.
That’s it for bench guys and only Kontos left.
The few remaining Phillies fans are yelling out some pretty loud boos.
Come on Giants, I’m tired and getting cranky, get these em here in the 12th.
The beef that people have with Blanco is that last swing. Swinging like Juan Uribe on that one. That shouldn’t be Blanco’s game.
It wouldn’t hurt Crawford to shorten his swing more often, too. He and Blanco have such big swings. Unless they change that, they’re always going to be .235 hitters.
Sorry, but I never “got” cheese-steak.
Who was it who used to always post that we needed to go after Reid Brignac?
GH as I remember…I think Twin used to give us his updates with Rays…wasn’t pretty.
I like lollipops.
Wow
If a fan has turned his hat inside out for a rally cap, he should not be seen yawning on TV.
Nobody wants to go back to the hotel room?
I bet Flan does. I heard this great story about Flan and his wife being with Dave Groeschner and his wife and they all got locked in the stairwell in Philly during the 2010 playoffs. Flan was playing his guitar and singing because he liked the acoustics in the stairwell, so they had some wine and had a bit of a party going on and somehow they got locked in. Timmy came by, opened the door and said “will you old people please go to bed?”
Hector has no clue up there.
They may have to send Kontos down for a fresh arm tomorrow.
yikes
Damn! Was watching the game delayed on DVR, recording ended in the 11th. I was sure the game was over, but here we are in the 13th! What a game…will be one hell of a win if they can pull it off.
Win or lose, great work by Giants ‘pen. No runs since the 5th.
Roll call . . . Who be here?
“Sir, Blade reporting for duty, sir!”
No one on the bench.
San Dawg is in the house and I’m sticking it out til the end.
Me too, Dawg…
Dark Helmet reporting for duty, sir!
lqtm
I second the comments on the A&W stories.
Little league practice on a fried Central Valley summer afternoon followed by a frosty mug of A&W was the bomb for me. The occasional root beer float, wow, what was better than that? Hand in hand stuff, great memories.
Heading out early tomorrow morning for some salmon fishing off the Vancouver Island west coast, hope we get a few. Hell, hope we get a lot. Maybe some halibut, too.
Go Giants…
Good luck with the fishing, snarkk.
Blanco up in key situations just fucking kills me. He has to run into one sooner or later…
Better than a K or weak-ass out. Let’s go MudBug!
Come on Craw . . . Put us to bed.
CRAW!!!!!
Crawdaddy!
Fuckin A
Whoot! Clear the fucking bases! CrawPower!
HEHEHE . . . Crawford!
Wow–Crawdad comes though!
Who pitches bottom of the inning?
Timmy warming up.
Yeah money! Hella AB from Blanco tho–he looked really bad on those first two back foot breaking balls, then laid off last two for the BB. Kontos got the bunt down too.
Giants fans making some noise…Phillies fans are just saying “Oh Shit.”
Would be sweet to see Timmy close it out.
Adding on!
I remember these guys from April and May. Theeeeey’rrrrreeee back!
hooray…..so far
Craw with the base cleaner!…
That calls for a finger of Bulleit bourbon, and I’m gettin’ it now…
Nice shot, Hector will sleep good tonite. Poor guy, catching 14 innings in Philly in July for 5 and a half hours ain’t easy.
Will we see Big Time Timmy Jim? I sure as hell hope so.
I hope Kontos can finish it out so Timmy gets his regular start.
Would have been nice, John. In reality, it sucks that they are having to use Timmy.
You got your wish, chi. Hope we have someone to face the Dodgers. But you’re right, first things first, let’s win this one now.
If he can get out of it here, John, it will be nothing different that a short bullpen session. I doubt it would push him out of his next start. But right…let’s get the win, first.
they won’t let timmy in – it’s not a save situation
Unfortunately it became one.
Craw with a huge hit, despite my withering criticism. 🙂
Here we go…go Timmy. Close these fuckers out!
Timmy will be digging a chance to get a save.
2nd relief appearance by Timmy at CBB.
My God. They are using Mr. Lincecum
Still with the soul patch.
Looks like he needed another 20 warmups
Might be the first time I can say that I’m glad Hector is catching.
That’s a little rough
I guess it came out that way. Since Tim prefers Hector as his catcher and he was relieving I’m glad Hector was catching, but normally I’m happy when he’s on the bench. Hmmm, I guess that didn’t come any out softer.
This is getting way too interesting
Fuck TImmy a HR is better than a walkl here\
Gosh. A strike that Sanchez didn’t have to chase
Oh Lord
Wow. I don;t believe this.
Just knew the tying run would come to the plate
Ballgame!
Hoooooo doggies . . . . .
PHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go Timmy! Good night Flappers . . . Signing off from Colorado Giants Regional Head Quarters!
Keep the faith, baby
Always . . . ‘Nite Ted 🙂
And a winning road trip!
Brown out, ballgame.
epic
So, do those 21 pitches push him off his next start? And if so, who goes? Do they just skip him, or do they bring someone up for one game (like a Kickham)?
Giants Win Baby!! Timmy Power!!!!
Gotta love it!!!!!!!
Well, two Cy Youngs, two no hitters and now…one save
And over just in time to catch bottom of the 9th Mets @ Seattle.
Now that was a grinder, a true team win, I mean, a whole team win. It’s a win.
Not just a win but a win win that won. It’s sorta like your W’s W’s two, they went in to win, they wanted to win, they won
Don’t just read my post above. Say it out loud. It’s kinda fun the faster you get
Can I just go to bed instead?
Done…one up on LA…just stay there.
and a GIANT win, !
That was a glorified bullpen session for Timmy, right?
I would probably say it was a bit of a stressful bullpen session. I think his normal bullpen would have been today or tomorrow, so maybe he’ll be OK for LA, I sure hope so.
I asked the same thing earlier, Charlie. On the post game they are saying he will go on Friday against the bums.
He needed practice working from the stretch.
Cain goes on DL, Kontos comes up and in two days gets as many wins as . . . Cain.
Now now
stellar
Nice win! May be 1st time in 20 years NL will have full blow races. Of the 6 teams on top one will have the best record ( us after already having our horrible patch) while some one a game out will miss the playoffs..
