2010…2012….2014?

Well, if heart and soul have anything to do with pitching, I like our chances today. And having watched Strasburg pitch a number of times, I’ll take the fire and moxie from Peavy over the robotic pitch counted Strasburg.

As we know as much or more than any baseball fan, anything is possible. If you had told me when I started the first Flap blog over at blogger.com (as a joke because the Splash blog kept crashing that day) that 6 years later two Giants fans who didn’t know each other would meet at my blog, become proud members of a supernova known as “Flap Nation” and one day meet up in Ho Chi Minh City for a “knowing dude head nod”, I woulda called you crazy….

And yet here they are yesterday (Blade on the right, PaulinAsia on the left with the peace sign):

However good Bochy may be on his route to the HOF, he is not always the most astute of lineup setters. Now that we all know BB9 has his timing and stroke back he is the logical #3 hitter. Buster is better suited for cleanup. Not that it necessarily would have turned out any different, but imagine if Belt had been the guy up with two on and only one out. Don’t have the stats in front of me and too lazy to look em up, but my feeling is that Posey is far more apt to GDP than Belt.

When it comes to selective hitters on the team Panik has to be #1 with Belt second and Buster a rather distant third. Hell, Pablo is creeping up on him, if you can imagine that.

Except for not being very economical in those first two innings Peavy has been nothing but superb. Even so, he may be getting close to the point whether we like it or not BB15 should have someone like Petit and maybe also Strickland and/or Timmy warmed up as the sixth gets underway. I’m sure Jake’s been around long enough that he wouldn’t take it the wrong way.
